Been a long time since I rock and rolled

As I mentioned in my previous bloggings, when I was younger I played a lot of music. My musical involvement ran the gamut. From fronting garage bands and singing in all city choirs, to playing the violin in the orchestra and playing the “Thunder Bass” in our marching band’s award winning drum line. Not to mention quite a few other instruments in between.
I have fronted bands that made money, and would have signed a deal had it not been for my parents intervening due to my tender age. Even had “Rusted Root” a local band made good, open for us! This of course was before they signed their deal and became famous with “Send me on my way”.
Yet it’s been about 9 years since I’ve done little more than sing in the shower and or play a few scant tunes with some family/friends on the ole’ porch. After my mother died, I was fortunate enough to meet my wife. After which we had a whirlwind love affair that changed my outlook on life drastically. So something that was innate in my daily life was cast aside in lieu of other pursuits of happiness.
Also, my wife never once asked me to stop playing my music. She has supported me in any and every endeavor, so obviously it was not the case of an overbearing wife and a submissive husband.
Even now when I sit back and look at the life of a musician, it’s really not the life that I would ever want. I mean, traveling constantly. Playing in dirty unsafe venues, having to deal with management, creative control etc. Also, if you actually do ever make it (Fat chance), you have to deal with living your life in a fish bowl and never having a private moment. Even with all of these drawbacks and the knowledge that the musician’s lifestyle is not for me, I still find myself mourning the path not taken.
But in this day and age of “American Idols” and “Grease: You’re the one I want”, my life choices keep popping up into my head, reminding me of what “Might have been”. Now don’t get me wrong, I freaking love my family and do not regret the choices I have made. Rather, it’s a simple reflection/realization that had I been coming up a mere 10 years later, I may have chosen an entirely different path all together.
They say you never lose it, and I hope that’s true. I’ve always mused that one day after the kids go to college and my job is complete, I’d love to get back into the studio and record some tracks. Maybe just play around town with a local band on the weekends and or holidays. Who knows? Maybe at age 36, I’ll get another shot at the stage….stranger things have happened.

A LEGO MMorpg??

The LEGO Group selects NetDevil to create branded MMOG

The LEGO® Group today announced it has commenced a working relationship with NetDevil® to develop a massively multiplayer online gaming experience to further engage its dedicated and active community.

“As children around the world continue to spend more time online we are developing new and engaging ways for them to interact with our brand,” said Lisbeth Valther Pallesen, Executive Vice President, Community, Education and Direct Division LEGO Group. “The LEGO brand represents construction, creativity and problem solving – values that compliment the MMOG market. By merging the online world of social interaction with physical play, the LEGO brand is providing new experiences for children, as well as fans. NetDevil’s technological capability, openness to work with a large community, and their enthusiasm for the LEGO brand made them a natural partner.”

“Playing with LEGO bricks and developing online worlds are both creative activities. To bring them together is deeply professionally satisfying and we look forward to working with the LEGO team,” said Scott Brown, President of NetDevil.

Want to direct your own mmorpg?!?

Acclaim and David Perry have teamed up to work on a new MMORPG . So far it is only known as "Top Secret", however what makes this project different than any other, is that one lucky fan will get to direct the development of the entire MM.
