Some times I miss Texas
It's been almost 9 years since I moved here from Dallas (richardson to be exact). Some times I really miss TX. Maybe its the chilli on baked potato for lunch that I just ate, but I really miss it some days.
Two of our Wii controllers ran out of batteries yesterday. we powered it up because it was flashing blue at us. I thought it was a sys update, but it was just a msg about the wand-condoms. However two of the three wands we have ran out of the juice. I guess it's time to look into getting a recharge kit. Not that we use the wii much. And I still haven't picked up paper mario since before going to Raleigh. Oh well I'll get around to it. At the moment I'm trying to finish a Job.
Hockey season starts today too. For my brethren (and sisters) in the northern states and Canada this is usually a big deal. I can't wait to get home, and put on my Sundin Jersey, and crack open an MGD and plop down in my office to watch the game on our little 24" sdtv, while Shannon flips around and watches something dumb on the 42" downstairs. At least I'll get to do some work up in the office. She's really good about not bothering me when I'm doing work. She'll even bring me dinner.
We just had our 1 year anniversary on Sunday. I know it sound gushy but I'm still in love with her. Even though we've been together around 7 years, lived together for 5. Something about the exitement of "us" hasn't worn off for me. OH well. I'm wasting time and my lunch is almost over.
Blog you later.

Who needs a vacation!
These days I find myself reminiscing about my honeymoon in Jamaica last september. It's really the last vacation I've had from work. I'm really feeling the pull of needing another very very soon. On that note my work-conference trip to Raleigh, NC was booked in full today. Hotel, airfare, everything. Of course it's just an IBM hardware conference covering xSeries server platforms. Maybe they'll have some seminars on the blade servers too. Lets hope. I'm not staying for the Lenovo laptop discussions though.
Good news came in tuesday about my wifes diagnosis. She has been off work for over 3 months now, and in pretty bad shape with abdominal pains since last year. For the past several months the doctors had been unable to tell us what it is. Tuesday we found out. It's food intolerances. I'm not quite sure how they differ from food allergies, but mystery solved. Her follow-up with the GI specialist is tomorrow. Likely we'll be referred to a dietitian. My grandmother also had surgury yesterday on her hand, which I have yet to hear back from her or my aunt yet. I worry any time a woman of 87 goes under the knife. I'm sure she'll be fine.
I spend last night playing paper mario on the gamecube since I'm determined to finish that one before getting the sequel for the Wii. It was a nice break from working at home for the previous 3 days. Anyhow. this is long enough for now.
Ciao.

A good Wii-kend
Most weekends these days have been relegated to keeping my wife entertained. She's been off on disability for months now. Her social interaction sim-bar is really low since she isn't going to work to get her fill of gossip and such. This weekend I took her over to best buy to pick up a couple dvd's that were on sale for 7$. There to my surprise stacked about 10 high in a cage were the nintendo Wii. I'd heard about this mythical beast. I've even played one back before it launched at a friends house. It was my very first time seeing them on a store "shelf". I asked permission to buy one. She hemmed and hawed for a little bit. Asked me "if you weren't married to my you'd have one already wouldn't you?" , to which she already knew the answer. (I'd have pre-ordered one). I had to promise not to get a PS3 as well. (no loss there). I also had to buy Mario Party 8. All conditions I gladly accepted.
One Wii 289$
two wii-motes : 90$
two nun-chucks: 50$
component cables: 20$
Mario Party 8: 60$
USB Wi-Fi Access point: 40$
Waving my arms around like a moron trying to get toad to bash the dice block: priceless.
The wii is such an amazing console. I really am In love with it. Ideally I'd like to see more channels in the wii-menu. The fact that the internet browser is 5$ is a little stupid. Especially in this day and age when a lot of families have computers in the living room (or whatever room the Wii is in). I think I spent about 30 minutes messing around with the weather channel. That thing is really fun. The controls in the news channel are phenomenal. There are very few things to dislike about the wii. One of which is the lack of HD support. 480p is nice, but definately low-res. Also MP8 doesn't even support widescreen!
I'm feeling a bit guilty for buying the Wii though. I've got so many other games on the go that I have yet to finish. (or barely play these days)
Dead Rising
Dragon Quest 8
Final Fantasy x-2
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy VIII (started it in the winter again)
Paper Mario: 1000 year door
Morrowind (started it again in the fall for the PC)
Ocarina of Time : Master Quest
Sadly I need to start playing shorter games. That and I need to stop playing games 90% of the way through then picking up something else. I've also picked up some contract work on the side which eats into my gaming time in general. On top of all of this I have to find some time to play some Magic on MTGO with the clanfolk. Not enough hours.

Brand New 2old2play
Incredible. I'm really liking the layout change. The new logo is pretty sweet too. Much classier than the old one. I figure with a new site I'll start making some blog entries here, since I've nearly abandoned my myspace account. Good stuff site admins. You know we all appreciate the hard work you put in.Posted by Banshee3 @ 4:00 pm EDT | Permalink | 0 Comments
