I jumped on my email account this morning and guess what I found. A nice fraud alert on my Bank of America checking account. Seems some ass has been using my account in good ol' Chicago. Now I get to go through the whole process of hoop jumping. What a great start to the week.

The old ball game

I've lived in central Florida my entire life, okay okay the same county my entire life. I used to love baseball, I still have about 10,000 cards (mostly torn up by silverfish I assume, I haven't seen them in ages) but have never gone to a game. I lost interest in the early 90's then the strike pushed me farther. I really didn't pay much attention during the roid offs between Sosa and Big Mac. the Devil Rays came to town and have sucked for a good 10 years. Why the Tampa Bay area gets saddled with crap ownership I have no idea. The Bucs, Lightning and Rays have all started life with bad ownership. Well, the Rays have shaken the fleas off and I have a son now so I decided it's time for some baseball. He did very well, he was a little in awe for the first 3 innings but warmed up and was having a blast watching a dancing banana. He couldn't make it through the whole game, 8 innings and he was done. Not to shabby for a 3 year old. Before we got in the game he told me has to get a ball so on the way out we stopped at a stand. Well, after buying a ball he told me needed a bat. So I had to turn around and wait in line to get a little bat. They gave away gloves to the kids today so he should be all set. The Rays won btw, in the 10th, via a homer against the White Sox. I was happily on the interstate, listening to it on the radio.

Burn baby burn

I got off work early yesterday, the week before a holiday is reaaaalllly slow. I stop and fill the tank half up. I'm driving home when it starts smelling like somebody is dumping fuel in my car, really bad fumes. So I put the windows down and the smell goes away somewhat. Long story short, the fuel line that plugs into the rail has decided to leak. My engine was covered in gas and I was high as a kite. I can't believe it didn't start a fire, if it was on the other end that connects to the metal line it would have dumped fuel all over the exhaust manni and it would have went up in flames. I also found out the the clutch is starting to slip. yeah.

The new panhandling?

So I was at the gas station tonight when a beat-up F150 rolled into the pump next to me. Nothing to strange right? Well I've seen this gray pickup before, hauling the same 2 early 20 somethings. I saw what was coming a mile away.

The guy gets out and starts asking people if he can get a couple of bucks. He's far from home, the tanks empty, blah blah blah. This is the fourth time I've seen this kid. He gives me a sob story about how his car is in the shop for an alternator and he had to borrow his girlfriends (she's driving) dads v8 truck. Instead of calling this kid out I say I don't carry cash, and now I'm regretting it. I should have told him to get a job, read a book (how to change an alt in a car) or just to suck it. I'm almost certain that I'll see this kid again, in fact I'm going to be looking for him.

If anybody is buying booze or drugs with my money it's gonna be me!

I fskn' hate cell phone shopping. The wife and I went cell phone shopping for mothers day. The bill? $593ish. Really, 600 bucks for 2 phones? Mine being $150? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! My a.d.d. was kicking in and I wasn't paying attention so the wife took over and the sales monkey took advantage. He loaded her up with a bunch of shit we (don't) need and I can't wait to check the plan that asshole set us up with for 2 years. We went this morning and returned over 4 bills of crap and got her the same phone I got that cost her $100 with a $50 mail in crapbate. F you in the A , verizon. The best part was the asshole that sold her all that crap was working bright and early this morning. Sorry for your loss, ass.

Sorry if you sell phones, just be honest with customers. BTW, the phone she got was really nice, just sucked for it's prime function, making F#CKING calls.

R.I.P

Just got word that an old buddy died. I haven't talked to him in a while, since life got in the way (married, kids, moves). I guess he had some problems he felt he couldn't get away from so he took the rope. I really feel for his mom (his little brother died in a motorcycle crash about 5 years ago) and his gf that found him. "wow" is all I can say. Go hug somebody you love.

Holy crap, I just paid my mortgage payment and it dropped like $200 or so a month! Insurance in Florida is a lot, and with no major storms last year my bill dropped about $2K a year. HHHHOOOORRAAAYYYY! (beer)

bleepin HP-UX Ignite

I use this software for HP's flavor of Unix, it's called Ignite UX. It sits on a server and makes different versions of HP-UX available for lan installs. You copy a cd into a depot and then you can install other machines from the server. It's great when it works right, you roll patches into the install and I don't have to keep track of cd/dvd's. I've been working on this for 2 days now and it just won't work correctly. It's holding up machines going to Mexico and Poland and it's making for a very bad Monday. blah

What am I doing here?

I can't stand my job anymore, if I hit the lotto I would be a much happier person indeed. I'm a bit of a busy body, I get myself into trouble when I have nothing to do. Idle hands do the devils work as they say. Things are unbearably slow at work so I sit here watching the clock and plotting my escape.

I recently did a little side work for an attorney so as payment he set me up with an LLC and now I'm not sure how or where to take it from there. I registered a domain name and I'm starting a web page but it's a slow painful process for me as I'm not the most artistic or creative soul. I'm looking into doing small business IT services and residential, setting up small servers and such but how do I get my name out there? I know I can do the work, I'm responsible for my current employers site and email and I work on large Unix servers for 10+ years and pc's for even longer. Anybody with any experience or words of wisdom out there? I have a few contacts but they know my boss and I don't want to upset the apple cart just yet.

On a personal note, moving sucks! Moving into your inlaws place sucks even more!! I spent my weekend helping clean up their place so we can move in and I can finish up a few projects and get our place on an ever expanding crappy market. I think we'll be lucky to break even so we'll be starting from scratch. Apparently this sorta thing has happened to a lot of people in my family (both blood and inlaws) so everyone is being supportive but it still fills me with a feeling of failure and suckiness.

Other than that, I'm feeling great! Almost like I got an hour of extra sleep or something. : )
