Chrome-dome Sun Protection

For those of you who suffer from follicle-impairment, but have to venture out in the sun, I have an outstanding product to recommend. .

I have typically hated putting sunscreen on my Kojakian-cranium. The reasonably priced stuff has an unpleasant smell, and both the inexpensive and over-priced-but-decent-smelling stuff would leave my otherwise naked-noggin greasy-shiny-sticky...altogether aesthetically unacceptable. In fact, I have been known to take drastic measures...and I'm not proud of this...I've subsequently powdered the greased-bean, to take off the shine.

Well, Bananna Boat (I've always been uncomfortable with that brand name), has come to the rescue with their "Sport Dri-Blok, with Powder-Dri Technology, No Slip Dry Lotion". This stuff is SPF 30, and includes something called "advanced AvoTriplex" for blocking both UVA and UVB. But the most amazing thing: while it goes on a bit shiny like any lotion, within less than a minute, it dries to a non-sticky matte finish. Now that's a sun-protected spartan-scalp to be proud of!

Maybe I'm alone in the sunscreened-greasy-pate-self-consciousness group, but on the off chance there are any other sufferers out there, you will love this product. Here's a pic from Amazon.com, but presumably you can pick it up at any store that typically carries sunscreen: http://www.amazon.com/Banana-Boat-Dri-Blok-Advanced-AvoTriplex/dp/B000PL3WGS

Best news: he confirmed that video games had absolutely nothing to do with it. He also confirmed there was no problem playing video games in the dark. He did say it was a good idea to remember to blink periodically, or at least take a break now and then to remember to blink.

Blew Out an Eye

I've been playing so much Gears of War lately, that I think this may have resulted in my blowing out some blood vessels in my eye! Seriously. In addition to playing GoW nearly every night and several hours each weekend since it came out, I've also been spending several hours a day in front of a computer drafting documents at work. I suspect I have been forgetting to blink...and now I have a massive red bloodshot area on the inside of my right eye. Downright disgusting. Going to make an appointment to see an opthomologist. Hopefully, it is just a case of "dry eye", and nothing worse. Happy gaming, and be sure to blink.

2old2wait4matchmaking

Where were we…

I pretty much play Halo2 now, periodically dabbling in a couple of other games. However, I’m exclusively a console person. Goes back to the emotional scarring from the days when one loaded their new PC game, then had to go online to search for and download half a dozen patches. You see, I know next to nothing about computers / internet etc., hell, I didn’t even know what a patch was or how too search for it “online”. Too much trouble, not enough time/patience. Then along comes the console, just stick in the cartridge or disc, and bam!...you are good to go. Cooler yet, with some disposable income (and an understanding wife) you can add Dolby digital surround, a projector, and a 12 foot wide screen. Yeah baby!

I love playing Halo2, but...I pretty much suck at it. Apparently Im 2old2have-quick-reflexes and 2old2quickly-memorize-the-maps. I join my 12 year old son and his friends periodically for a cyber-ass beating (Im the one getting the beating).

Im definitely 2old2wait4matchmaking. Having very little time, and trying to get some gaming in with an hour here or there, the last thing I want to do is spend my precious time counting the tiles on the ceiling while matchmaking grinds away.
Thanks to my new found friends in 2old2pwn, I can say goodbye to matchmaking.

Cyber-senility

Okay…recall I mentioned I’m a noob when it comes to a lot of this computer related interaction. Well, apparently I’m also a bit of a F---tard. It took me quite awhile (about 30 min’s) to figure out how to post a blog. After finally making my first post, I went back to confirm the steps so I could do it more efficiently in the future. Unfortunately, I managed to completely forget how I worked out the blog post procedure.

After another 20 minutes of searching, pestering Doodirock w/ a pm (private message) on how to post a blog, I managed to stumble across the “Help Area” under “2old2play.com Forum Index”. A posting from Caeser sent me in the correct direction (thanks!).

In case anyone is as lame as I am with the site interface, here’s how you blog (and posting this will help me in the future when I forget again):

1) Click on “Your Account” under “Features” on the left of your screen when you are, e.g., at the home page. (It doesn’t appear on this Blog page).

2) Click on “Player Profile” at the top of your screen.

3) Just below the box containing the menu buttons (the one that includes the “Player Profile” button you just clicked), you’ll see another box with the first line “Your Player Profile URL” and a URL immediately underneath that. Click on that URL

4) Just below the Blog picture in the top center of the page (not your gamer picture to the left), you’ll see the text “[your name]’s Blog – Add Entry”. Click on “Add Entry”.

Okay…I’ve spent way too much potential gaming time on this. I’d rather be blowing shit up on Halo2.

Origins & Anal Retentiveness

I’m a noob (I think I’m using that properly) to gamer-slang, ipods/podcasting, website communities, blogging, etc. So, please bear with me if I commit any cyber-culture faux pas. I thought I’d give this blog thing a try.

I’ve been on Xbox Live since the beta test days. My original (and still active) gamertag is “Abracadaver”. However, one day I thought it would be clever to have a gamertag that smartly finished the sentence “You were killed by _____”, and my alter-gamertag-ego, “Poor Judgment” was born. Since that describes any FPS (first person shooter) strategy of mine, I typically play under that gamertag.

[Side note, where I work, initialisms are rampant in people’s memos / e-mails, and most of the authors don’t remember what the term means when asked. Consequently, people who think they are communicating efficiently, are essentially not communicating at all! I also have some anal-retentive tendencies. So, you’ll often see that I will define certain initialisms that may be incredibly obvious to most. However, I define it for those who may be new to the term, in the hope that the favor will someday be returned when I (in a state of ignorance) come across someone else’s writings.]
