25 things I learned from video games

I thought these were funny so please enjoy!!

Amy

25 things I've learned from video games............
.......ON LIFE:
  • When you are born, you drop out of the sky (a stork?) and are completely invincible for a short time.
  • All martial arts women wear revealing clothes and have great bodies.
  • All martial arts men have rippling muscles and angry expressions.
  • If someone other than you dies, they disappear.
  • Whenever huge, fat, evil men are about to die, they begin flashing red or yellow.
  • No matter how long you fight, you can always fight again.
  • Your death is reversible, just keep an eye on those icons.
  • Carpe diem! You still have lives left!
.......ON PROBLEM-SOLVING:
  • There is no problem that cannot be overcome by violence.
  • If it moves, KILL IT!
  • Shoot everything. If it blows up or dies, it was evil. If it doesn't, try picking it up--- it was probably a bonus.
  • You can smash things and get away with it.
    A. Smashing things doesn't hurt.
    B. Many nice things are hidden inside other things.
  • 200-to-1 odds against you: NOT a problem.
.......ON DAILY ROUTINE:
  • If you see food lying on the ground, eat it.
  • Money is frequently found lying on the streets.
  • You never run out of ammunition, just grenades.
  • Piloting any vehicle is simple and requires no training.
  • When driving, you can knock other vehicles off the road and get away with it.
  • When racing vehicles, do not worry if your vehicle crashes and explodes. A new vehicle will appear in its place.
  • Ninjas are common, and fight in public frequently.
  • All shopkeepers carry high-tech weaponry.
  • The operation of a weapon is a simple and obvious procedure.
.......ON ENEMIES & FRIENDS:
  • The enemy always leaves weapons lying around for no reason other than to aid you in defeating them.
  • Gang members frequently all look the same, and often have the same names.
  • As a rule of thumb; Cybertrons are our friends, Human(oid)s are not .

My Public Service Annoucement

The following is a public service announcement made by me, approved by me. :-)

When driving down the highway, DO NOT stay in the inside lane.  MOVE out of the way so that faster cars can pass.  It irritates the bejeebers out of me when people drive in that lane as if it is just a lane to be poking around in.  If you are moving and you aren't holding up traffic then by all means, keep going but don't just stay in the lane.  Eventually get over.  There are ALWAYS people out there travelling faster than you.  Doesn't make their traveling faster right but just get out of the way.

Stay to the outside lane when travelling and all travelers will be much happier.

This once again is a message by me approved by me. -grins-

Love to all,

Amy

Aren't we allowed to be human?

So this is something I have been noticing not just here but since I have been playing on Live.  It even happens in "real life" and I thought I would bring it up.  So stick with me through my minor bitch session.

I have noticed recently that if a person is an easy going and a generally happy person as soon as they show another emotion like being upset, having a rough night, even getting angry there are two responses from people: 1. Concern 2. Irritation

Now I like to think of myself as empathetic.  I am normally pretty good at telling if a person is doing well or if they are upset.  And when a friend of mine is upset I am concerned.  But then there are the people that get angry, as if the upset person doesn't have the right to be upset.  The comments are "what is up their butt?" (always high class),  "I can't believe the drama", or "Gawd...people need to just chill."

I think many have a hard time remembering that there are things outside of the Live rooms we are all involved in.  Many of us have families, jobs, and outside lives and those affect us through the games.  Those pressures don't just stop when we turn on our 360s.  People need to remember that.  Some come on Live to relax and try and forget things and just lose themselves in the game for a minute and when people are quiet or not 'themselves" then others can harrass them and then a safe haven becomes a place where it is no longer safe to go.

So.....I guess what I am saying is everyone needs to remember that Live is not our LIFE.  Everyone on Live is a person, a human, someone that has problems, emotions, and outside influences.  If you see a friend that seems upset then show them support by asking if they are ok but don't harrass them.  Give them the room they need and be a supportive friend.

Thanks for listening.

Too Old to Play?

I love this place.  It is great to find a group of people that are not 12 playing Halo.  Apparently my thought that Halo was an adult game has been proven wrong since many parents allow their 11 year olds to play and use language even the harshest person on the earth wouldn't use.  (Was going to say sailor but that kinda gives sailors a bad image)

So besides being a girl I am also 31.  Not old by any standards (or so I like to think) but older than a lot that are "stereotypically" playing video games.  And yet if anyone somehow finds out my age it is always "Well...aren't you too old to play video games?" or "oh....you still enjoy that?"  Well YES I do.  Everyone has hobbies and why can't mine be videogames?  It isn't hurting anyone and it is far less expensive then some of the hobbies people have.  Plus there are other hobbies that follow people from childhood up into adult hood: riding bikes, building with legos, collection certain toys, models, etc.  And yet there isn't such a huge deal made with those.  Or at least I don't think so.

Either way....I don't think anyone is too old to do something they enjoy!  Dang it....if a 101 year old man wants to ride a roller coaster then let him! If a 110 year old woman wants to bungee jump...let her.  We have earned our way to where we are: we work and we work hard.  We have the right to some fun and if that means playing video games then PLAY ON!!

-steps off soap box-

This has been a public annoucement by me, approved by me.
