Tomorrow is my last day at this job.  Today I was chatting with my boss and she was mentioning a few things she was needing done before I "left her."  I told her 'jokingly' that if she offered me a better job I'd be willing to come back, lol.  She laughed and said she was working on it...so, maybe I will be back there in a few months if the offer (if she comes up with one) is good enough.  We then talked about career goals and where I wanted to be, what I wanted to do and some of her experiences as well.  It was a good talk, and one I hope ends up bringing me much luck there in the future. 

On to other stuff....
I am all done with Sic's Christmas shopping, and I did it ALL online.  W00t!  I like that, lol....I know what I want to get him, and just being able to get it without having to deal with all the stressed out holiday shoppers is awesome.  He has barely started mine, lol....but men are always like that.  You guys wait until the last minute and then get whatever you see that you think she might like.  Hell, my father took it one step further...my mother always writes out a very detailed Christmas list for him.  And for 4 years in a row, he gave me blank checks and her list and had me go get everything on it, wrap it, and meet him with it covertly, lol.  And he even paid me 10 bucks an hour to do so!  Then, he'd feel guilty for not doing it himself and go buy her a new car or something equally over the top, he amuses me, lol. 

We got the boys a 360 of their very own for Christmas, a few games and I still need to pick up 3 more controllers and perhaps a refurbed 20 gig HDD from xbox for 30 bucks. { If you haven't seen that deal and would like to check it out, you can here.  They also have other deals as well if you're interested. } The only thing that pretty much annoys the crap out of me about Christmas and my boys is that I told their father we were getting them a 360, because he asked so he wouldn't get the same thing he said, and then he goes and picks them up one too.  It is really annoying that he tries to up me at every turn when it comes to them...because what he gets them will be compounded by his family, and his gf's family as well, by purchasing them every game and every accessory known to man.  I can't do that, we just can't afford to and it really pisses me off that he does that.  Luckily they will get ours first so we get bonus points for that, lol.

In other news, I have been promoted to Leader of a division on another site... that I also can't get to now from work.  Guess I might actually have to work.

I bought the new router.  It arrived yesterday and is a great little thingee.  Only problem was i didn't have a PCI adapter on my PC.  WTF??  i want my internet back!  So, instead of coming straight home from work tonight, I detoured to Best Buy where one like myself can wander around in awe for several days....but I didn't.  Instead, this very nice young man said "can I help you?" and YES, you certainly can!  I told him what I needed and, after a good bit of discussion, I decided, yes, indeed, this was it.  He said hesitantly..."it has to be installed".  What?  You just look at me and think I am a helpless female and am willing to pay big bucks to install this little aparatus?  NOT!  I paid for it, skipped out to my car humming "you ain't seen nothin yet" and drove home like the maniac I am.  Supper was waiting for me (sorta) so I couldn't dive into my little job until a little later.  Ahhhhhh, no instructions to speak of.  OK.  I mention to hubby that I am not sure how to open the computer and he tried to help.  OMFG!  Get out of my space, helpless male!!!  Well, he was helpful in that he found me a very small screwdriver I could use.  Nice.  With just a little effort, I found the way to open up the back, set the adapter in place, screwed everything back the way it belonged, and, wow!!!!!  I didn't even break anything.  I installed the adapter, then I installed the router.  I am good to go!  Well, it's late, so I will set up the network tomorrow.  I ROCK!!!  w00t!

I'm not sure if I really NEED another place to log my thoughts and daily activities... being jobless means my daily activities are pretty lame and meanlingless, even to ME.

The only thing that's really going on right now is how life has changed as a result of moving into an apartment with my gf of two years. We've signed a year lease, so I'm stuck with it for now, but I have a feeling that this will probably kill this relationship. If you know who she is and play games with her on xboxlive I would appreciate it if you kept this between us. NOt that anyone will read this anyway, but whatever.

All I'm saying is that we've only been in this place for like a week, and even though I love this apartment... it's weird to feel out of place somewhere that's supposed to be "Home". I haven't felt like this since I made the mistake of moving in with my father and step mother for a few months back in 2003, and I didn't like it then either. At least feeling trapped there helped make me artistically productive again. So at the very least, if this experience is good for nothing else, maybe I can get myself back to a point where I can consider myself an artist again. That would be nice.

I miss feeling creative, productive, useful, and appreciated for who I AM... and not what I was, could be, or might become with enough mollycoddling.

It's way too early to feel trapped, which is a horrible sign, but for the sake of arguement I'll do my best to remain causiously optomistic about the whole situation untill it blows up in my face.

I've done all I know to do and still havd the RROD. I have it in it's coffin..........er I mean box to ship it off to the hospital to get better. I still thank God for the spare but i feel kinda naked, (not a sight to behold, trust me), with just the one. The thing that scares me is if it happens again I'll do something drastic and go PS3. Not that Sony is bad, I just don't want to buy all my games over and downsize in picture quality. We have the extended warranty on both but I've heard thats even a nightmare. Do I buy a refirb as a third spare or just take my chances? I set up the XBOX downstairs so we can both still be online at the same time but it's not the same. My pre-order copy of Prince of Persia didn't come in today as well so I bought Sean White Snowboarding for the PSP. I just hope it's better than the reviews it's gotten so far. I can't help but be bummed. I think I need a cookie and a hug

Nope, it's not rain; it's bad plumbing. I'd really like to kill the previous owners, not to mention the home inspector  and the plumber I hired right after I moved in to fix another fuck-up.

When someone tells you "We've replaced all the plumbing," wouldn't you assume that statement to mean all pipes in the house running to the city sewer line have been replaced? Apparently that would be a false assumption. The old cast iron main pipe that all the drains connect to was not replaced. They simply punched holes in it and let the new pvc pipe dangle in it. I had to pay for that little understatement 2 years ago right after I bought the house and the toilet started backing up. I had the plumber check the upstairs bathroom as well; he said everything was hunky-fucking-dory up there. Wrong again.

They ran new pvc from the toilet and the sink, lopped off the old iron pipe in the attic where it plunges into the floor/ceiling, then dangled the pvc over the ragged opening of the iron pipe. I guess it's been working fine all this time, but my son clogged the toilet up, and when he freed the clog it must have sent a rush of water that overflowed the opening and ran into the ceiling. How lucky am I?

Hopefully I'll have enough room up there that I can get one of those rubber boots on to splice the two pipes together. If not... well, I'd rather not think about that right now. I guess I'll find out this weekend. Wish me luck - I have a feeling I'll need it.
