I own an F150 right now but I don't drive very much other than around town and to/from the train station. So the cost of the gas isn't hitting me to hard but if i had to fill my truck up, it would cost 130 bucks. If i were commuting, i'd be looking to sell for sure.

What I plan on getting is the Think City electric car. For me, i believe the only real solution to using gas is to use electric power because #1 I can generate electricity at home with solar panels or wind turbines and #2 it means i can fill up at home and i don't need to go to a fill up location anymore.

All these other alternative fuels suck in my opinion. About the best I think is BioDiesel using recycled fast food fryer oil to power your car, that's another idea i can get behind but it's a bit more labor intensive than just plugging a power plug into the wall but lots of resteraunts willg ive you their used oil for free.

Anyway Here's a link to the Think City coming in 2009 for about 15k. not only is the price decent but it'll go more than 100 miles on a charge. It's only one negative is that it's speed tops out at 65 so it's not freeway friendly but it's a great city car.

I've been out looking for new cars (mostly Dodges and Jeeps because of the 2.99 promotion) but I need 4WD because I live in a very snowy, hilly area. I also prefer larger vehicles so even if I get a Jeep Patriot, it's only slightly more fuel efficient than the Honda Element I'm driving now.

The 2.99 promotion is up to a certain number of gallons in the first three years (varies by model... I believe the more fuel efficient vehicles get a lower gallon limit). For example, the Jeep Compass: you pay $2.99 a gallon up to 1500 gallons within the three years after you buy the car. You can also use it to gas up other cars but of course that takes away from the gallon limit.

And BTW if anyone in Northern New England wants a used Honda Element let me know! I'll give ya a 2o2p deal.

I can see people trying to sell a gas guzzler, but who the hell will buy a used one?

I sold mine last December because it started to die on me. I got me a 2008 HHR now, get's me about 29MPG. Very nice.

well i just leased a 2007 explorer last yr for 3 yrs
so i have 2 yrs left on that. so im kinda stuck with that
the wife drives it to work which she only works like 3 miles from home, so its not killing me. i have a 2003 civic which i dont need to fill up for about 2 weeks
on a fill up. when our lease is up though if gas prices are still high we will get a hybrid though, most likely a escape.

oh and a fyi the gov said all vehicles have to get 35 mpg, at first i heard by 2010 but its not until 2020 now
so.

We got a jeep liberty for the wife last winter. Which was nice because we got a couple really bad storms and she has to drive 20 miles into work every day. The stupid thing gets like 16-18mpg though. I'm starting to think about getting a subaru or some other 4wd car.

My 2000 hyundai on the other hand gets 32-35mpg all day long. so the wifey takes that during the summer while the jeep sits.

Someone told me the other day that biodiesel costs about $7 a gallon to make once you account for filtering and stuff. I don't know if that is a viable option yet. or if that is even true.
