9 MPH over
That is the ticket I got last week on the way to camping. 9 MPH over. 64 in a 55. First he said he visually ID'd me doing 70, but decided to knock it down to 64. Visually? ID's? WTF does that mean? I was driving a full sized Tundra V-6, going UP the mountain, and he saw me for a period of possibly 2 seconds heading the opposite way. No way I was doing 70, and I think I'd have to really try to hit 64 on the hill I was going up. My wife tells me, "I think that cop who just passed is going to pull you over", I was like "What the Fuck for?"
The ticket is $80 which is no big whoop, but pisses me off because it's just at the right amount to make it more expensive to go fight it than just pay it.
I've never gotten a ticket for less than 15mph over. I've gotten ones for 72 in a 55 (twice), 46 in a 25, 56 in a 40, and 58 in a 40. 9? Really?
Whats the lowest you've ever gotten a ticket for?
Oh and if you are driving through this little town in the mountains of western maryland don't go 9 mph over the limit.

Small towns like that use speeding tickets for income.

I was on the freeway and a cop was the next car in front of me. So we're cruising along then he pulls over to the lane on the right, i pass him and then he gets in behind me and waits for the downhill section to start and pulls me over. Tells me i was doing 71 in a 70 or some shit because i was matching his speed when i was behind him and he could have added speed for going down hill since i wasn't breaking when he was behind me. Bunch of bullshit.
I also almost got one for going through a yellow. The light had just turned yellow as i entered the intersection and the cop was waiting at the light that was about to turn green and he pulled me over once he had the green. Said i ran the red. I' m like to hell i did, i've NEVER run a red light in my life. And he's like well you just did and i'm like umm no i didn't. Th elight was yellow when i went through the intersection and i've gone to traffic school enough times to clearly remember it's up to the drivers descression if he thinks he can stop safely at the line or continue through. Since it just turned yellow I felt i didn't have enough time to safely stop at the line. So he let me off with a warning but i just wasn't taking any of his shit.
