I decided to write a blog.

I am not quite sure why I am writing a blog, but like most things I have done in my life, if my friends are doing it, I must too.  Although I admittely do not really understand the purpose of a blog, or why anyone would want to read my own.  I really do not have anything creative to say.  I really don't feel like I need an outlet for my emotions, that is why I play video games.  Perhaps it is a need for acceptance, then again, receiving acceptance from compelte strangers seems a bit odd to me.  So what is it?  What compels people to write blogs, and why do I feel the need to start one up myself.

Like I said before, I think it has more to do with, everyone else is doing it, and since I am always the last person to join the bandwagon of everything(I was the last one of my circle of friends who started smoking, I was 18.  I quit smoking a year and three months ago btw).

Well enough of the big questions.  Onto more serious topics.

I have decided not to get a PS3 or a Wii.  After much thought I have decided that I am embracing my 360, PC, and DS for all my gaming needs.  There are a couple of reasons for this, first being, I pretty much have a family now(not married, but in a committed relationship with my girlfriend, and her fantastic son), and I rather spend more time with them than gaming.  Don't get me wrong I still playing a couple hours in the morning, and I will play on a clan night.  But to be honest, I do those things when they are not around(the advantage of not having the same work schedule I suppose).  Second, along with wanting to spend time with them, who has the money to keep up with the Jones's anymore?  I could get them all, I make enough, but if I had to make a choice between a PS3 and a Wii, and taking my family out to do something, I am going to do that instead.

OF course it helps a bit that it looks like there will be fewer exclusive titles to the PS3 than last generation, which means I can play them on my 360, and the graphics from what I have seen look pretty much the same.  Why spend 600?  The Wii looked cool and all, but the realization that when I play, I just want to sit on the couch and pretty much veg.  The wii looks like it wants to get me off my butt, and thats not what I am looking for when I want to unwind in a video game.

So I think I will stick with my 360, PC, and DS.

Again, I am not sure what anyone is suppose to get out of all of that, but hey, if you want to read, then go right ahead.

Good Blog! I was saving up for the PS3 but am having definite second thoughts. Not only is it $600, but after the Beta/VHS fiasco, I do not want to get a bunch of Blu-Ray discs and have it go belly up like Beta (been there, done that!) I'll probably invest in more 360 games and a decent sound system instead.

Saying you won't buy them now is fairly easy because there are no physical titles you can pickup at the store and look at, no ad's, no real "good" publicity.

But what do you do when a few friends are like "dude, you have to try the _____." And before you know it you're thinking "well...maybe one more console..."

I agree codemonkey. The time may come that I will buy a PS3, but not at startup. Maybe by the end of 2007, but it depends on games "I gotta have" and the success of Blu-Ray.

I don't know why you wanted to blog either, but I am glad you did. It gives everybody the chance to get to know others without sitting for 1/2 an hour in the lobby yakking when we could be getting our game on.
