New Gamertag

I have a problem...I admit it...so see..I am on the first step to recovery....or some shit like that. Oh well...I changed my gamertag...again. For those who have known me for awhile...I know all of you are probably just shaking your head in wonder. So I am now going by IllusoryPhoenix on Xbox Live.

This would be cool...

So I was wandering about the web looking for a cool full moon image for a sig I am working on and got distracted by a cabinet with a glowing full moon on it..which I just thought was kind of cool so I clicked on it..turned out to be a weird custom furniture type site..kept clicking along on things that interested me until finally I fount my way here http://www.hiddenpassageway.com/. Now...I just think this would be sweet. Not for a secret passage..the page I found linking this site had this gorgeous bookcase that came out and behind was a huge storage closet...I was like...sweet! So I had to check out the site. I could see doing something like this with a madia cabinet...mounted tv with a couple of shelves for stereo and xbox 360...oh and I suppose a Sony Blu -Ray player...what do they call those...PS3's? Anyway...just imagine it swinging out to reveal the movie & game collection...or media server room...if you have the bucks for it...lol Oh well I thought it was cool.

Just have to laugh

So I check in with my folks today and I just had to laugh. I actually went to bed before they did last night. Why you might ask? Well, even though they gave me grief for going to the midnight release of GoW2...shaking their heads and all...my dad dragged my mother with him last night to go get the Collector's Edition of Wrath of the Lich King the new WoW expansion. So they stood in line for almost 3 hours (longer then I did) at Wallyworld to get the game. Plus...my mom got into the moment so much she bought a copy of her own and she doesn't even play the game...LMAO. I don't think I will let them live this one down. I think its cool they game...even if it is wow, but to go to a midnight release after giving me grief over it...ohz noz...there will be mockery for months to come out of this one.

In other news...I remember why I don't like to remember my dreams. I had this conversation with Lucifer's Pearl the other night about dreams and how I don't remember mine and how they would probably freak me out if I did...what do you know..I was right. So, I woke up from a dream where I had been in some kind of law enforcement...helped bring down this drug lord...then the bastards cronies killed my daughter in front of me...from there I was lost in grief and shipped off to a mental ward. Now...I don't even have kids...but it all felt so damned real...to freaky for me...I'll go back to dreamless sleep please.

Made it to 50 on Horde

So I made it to 50 on horde 2 nights ago. Then last night I was with a different group and we marched from 1-50 with only a few deaths... Now, maybe it is the fact we are getting used to the controls or the game play, but it just seems to me that once you hit 50...its all easier. Kinda like stealing quarters from the parents coin jar as a kid even as you hear the ice cream truck pullin around the corner onto your block. That first time just seems impossible...then after you do it...and have that sweet reward...the next time is just so much easier. Until the folks found out and grounded me till I earned enough to pay them back...man that was a lot of chores for 5$ and some change...slave drivers...wait..where was I? Oh well, since I gave up on movie night for yesterday I am going to schedule it for Thursday...tonight is clan night and I can't miss out on that So any suggestions for a movie? It is either that or I sit down and start out the Wheel of Time series again...I stopped at book 7 or so...so I know there are some out there for new reading once I get to them. Movie or book...what to do.

Tomorrow is movie night

So I decided to take tomorrow night and take a break from gears 2 and just relax enjoy some movies and actually get some sleep. Might even forget the movie and just catch up on the pile of reading that has been stockpiling for a while now. In other news I finished the campaign with Lucifer's Pearl this evening on hardcore. I have to admit though the story is decent for a shooter...it still leaves me wanting a little more. Maybe that is because I read Aspho Fields and just expect more into the story and sideline plots now. Oh well, still I enjoyed the campaign and look forward to the struggle of insane and finding all of the collectibles. Well, that is all for the moment...maybe inspiration will hit me in the morning and I'll have something more interesting to post.

GoW2 = 1 Tired Hermit

So...it is 3:30am for me and I am finally going to get some sleep...if I can resist turning on the box again. Since picking this game up on Thursday night I have gotten a total of maybe 6 hours of sleep. Now, not all that time has been playing gears...work and family stuff pretty much filled my day hours. But, I am more then willing to lose a little bit of sleep for this game. I haven't touched the campaign really, but what I have played of it has been friggin sweet. I am in love with horde mode...I just have way too much fun in it even if I have't hit 50 yet...got to 40 before we failed out...and just to damned tired to go on. MP is a blast as well. The bots...well shit...the bots are a suprise. They use tactics and work as a team...the ai even at normal setting can be a challenge. Submission and wingman are sweet add-ons to the MP modes...and the play style has definitely been altered to a more team oriented game. Overall...Gears 2 has definitely outstripped the first in addictiveness for me...and I thought the first was bad enough. I might have to go pick up a case of monster tomorrow to help get me through the week. Oh well...off to get some much needed sleep...though I hear a voice calling me from the tv room...I might have to go check that out first...lol Anyways, I hope to see you all in GoW2. Aspho Fields

Now I am sure someone else has already reviewed this on the site, but I wanted to put in my two cents as well. Now, I love playing gears...I'm sure not the hardcore diehard fan some peeps are, but I do enjoy the game. So saying...I am sure the storyline is out there for those who have looked and what not, but though I have wondered....I never really sought the info out. Got the book Aspho Fields and problem solved...a good portion of the back story was unfolded. Not only was it a good look into the gears world, but it gave me a better in-depth look into the characters as well. It was well written in my opinion and expanded my view into the world rather then trying to skew or influence my view of it as some game books have done. So I would recommend it for those that want a good read into the Gears world.

Ho Hum

So I'd to say that I've been extremely busy, but truth is I've been more lazy then busy to write in the ol blog. My gears disk broke on my Sat night...apparently has a crack in it. Yes, I know 2 is coming out this week, but still...that gives me a week of boredom while the Marauders and all of my AoW buddies play the crap out of it in a final send off. Why not just go out and rent a copy you might ask? Well, I tried that. 15 blockbusters and 2 hollywood videos later...no effing gears. *sighs* Oh well...I have other games. In other news...

my dog is being onry and still kickin...which is a good thing imo...I just know it probably won't be much longer...he's not eating as much anymore and seems to sleep longer. I don't want him in pain...but I don't want to give him up either.

I have had 3 friends of late go into long conversations about marriage, divorce and kids this last week...still trying to figure that one out. Is it something in the water nationwide or possible subliminal messages somewhere...I'm not sure...I'm keeping an eye out though.

I got to watch Journey to the Center of the Earth on Blu-ray..it came with a 2d and 3d version as well as 4 pairs of 3d glasses. Now I tried watching it in 3d...I didn't get very far. I don't know if its cause I wear glasses or my crappy eyes or what, but I never seem able to enjoy 3d...it hurts my eyes and the effects just don't seem worth it. Oh well...switched to 2d and the film wasn't too bad...a little odd, but not bad. More rental then buy though imo.

Crappy week forecast...

So far this week is not looking good at all. Taking the dog to the vet on Tuesday. He has a tumor on his left hind leg that has eaten away most of the bone and the vet was sure moved into his other systems. We found this out a few weeks ago much to out dismay. So the tumor has done nothing but grow and though he still has a healthy appetite...still has the strength to get up and move around...we can tell he is sliding down faster and faster. The tumor has gotten huge...it looks like someone took a softball and shoved it under his skin...and its strating to discolor and grow little welts or something which is what we were warned of...so its time...I think they are most likely going to put him down. 11 years...almost 12...he's had a good life I think...he's been a good dog, but it still sucks....there just isn't anything we can do. Another kick to the shin is that as some of you are aware I help take care of my grandparents. Well my grandfather is being scheduled for another day a week at dialysis. I'm basically the only one in my family who can make the time to get him to and from and then stay the afternoon there when he gets off to keep an eye on him. We've already setup a home office over there, but I still don't seem to be able to get my full work day in on these days...I'm really not sure I can take basically losing another day of work a week. Don't get me wrong...he's family and I love my grandparents dearly...in my rulebook...family always comes first...just got to find a way to get a little relief in here somewhere. Well, the first part of the week is looking crappy as hell...I can only hope it clears up into some sunnier times towards the end.

Back to PC Gaming

So with life keeping me hopping and my hours of leisure time becoming more sporadic I have decided to go back to pc gaming. I picked up World of Warcraft and joined our very own Failure clan. I'm hoping to find time during those weird hours when I'm up and should be sleeping to get in some game time. Either way I am looking forward to getting back into the MMO world for a little while till GoW2 and a truck load of other games pull me back to a more focused console mode. So wish me luck and if you're a member of Failure well then I look forward to seeing you online.

Classics on Netflix

So having not been on the box lately due to work and family...I have been watching more and more movies. Netflix has been my friend...and I now like the instant play que even more. So I will say this first...yes I enjoy action packed films...blood, guts gore the whole nine yards, but on occasion I just like to sit back and watch some of the oldies. So here I am skimming through the main page when low and behold a classic movie I've seen before is on instant play. So I que up "The Thrill of it All" a Doris Day flick. I don't care what you guys say..the old Doris Day, Rock Hudson, James Garner, Cary Grant, Sophia Loren, Bing Crosby and so many others...they crack me up. It is something I can just kick back and have a laugh. I'll even watch some of the old musicals like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Oklahoma! and the like. So yes...perhaps a bit odd for this day and age, but I love the classics. Any old movies that you just absolutely have to watch if you see it on or it pops into your head? Or are there just more and more poeple these days that figure if there aren't explosions or nudity then why bother?

An old movie

So I couldn't sleep last night and being bored I ended up at Walmart. Just walkin around trying to tire myself out I found my way to the movie bargain bin and found and oldie I couldn't pass up. Escape to Witch Mountain. You guys remember that flick? I remember watching it as a kid at my grandparents and I loved it. So I picked it up and plan on watching it tonight. Have to see if it is as good as I remember it to be.

Funny game moments...

I was playing some gears last night and after some friend's closed their room for the night I decided I wanted to play some more and went looking. I try not to go random because I usually just find the idiots, but since no one was on that I saw I said screw it and hopped around. After about 3 rooms I found an Annex match. The game was more a killfest then anyone going for the circle, but it was fairly even matched so I was having some fun all the same. Now I don't remember how it started, but next thing I know my team ends up staying in spawn against the wall dancing. All four of us lined up turning back and forth up and down in synch (once we got it down). Course the other team thought it was a goood time to come and kill us...but for about the next 15 minutes we just kept gathering and dancing...I was laughing my ass off. So I know we have all had some of those unusual random funnies happen...what are some of yours?
