I normally don't blog about "random" stuff like this but it just happened and it was pretty damn funny. :-)

I just called up some friends to see about going to a live hockey draft for our fantasy league and what was playing as the phone answers:

so yea, just felt like posting that little nugget of everyday life. :-)

Street Fighter IV...Fuck Yea!!!

so I was stoked about SFIV when I heard about it, got more stoked when I saw this trailer, and now after seeing this trailer (see below), I'm ecstatic about the game. I was talking to my brother about remaking old games from our childhood/past and he didn't like the idea of radically changing a game just to update it; I agreed. I stated that I would prefer them to keep the gameplay mostly the same but to just give it a facelift. SFIV has done that. they gave it a makeover by putting 3D characters into a 3D world but still having the gameplay be 2D. the part that they did change, which is fine by me (and awesome as well), was with the "special/finishing moves". I'm not gonna give it away, you'll just have to watch the video. but it's nicely done and adds another element to the game without radically changing it. so yea, needless to say, I'll be buying it when it comes out.

Muy Thai Kicked My Ass!!!

two blocks down the street from my house is a Ralph Gracie jiu-jitsu place. I've always driven past it wanting to see what they teach and what it would be like. I also wondered if they taught Muy Thai along with jiu-jitsu; well they do. I actually found out about the Muy Thai class from a fellow student. she's been babysitting for one of the employees there and was offered free jiu-jitsu lessons. the cool thing is that they offer two free lessons to let you get a feel for the classes and to see if you'd really want to take them.

well today I took one of those free classes.

now, I haven't done any serious exercising, physical activities or sports in about 4 years. so I thought that I would take it easy and just do the beginning class. well there weren't any different levels of class. right off the bat I get thrown into a mild sparring activity. learning combinations of punches, kicks & blocks. the class is an hour long but after 10 minutes I was feeling light headed and nauseous. you know that feeling of warm saliva building up in the back of your throat, yea that was me. but I battled through it and stuck it out for the entire hour (with a few much needed water breaks in between). overall, I got my ass kicked. my legs are so heavy that I can barely lift them. I have a bruise on my lower right shin from kicking the other guy's shin w/o pads and I can tell that I'll be really sore tomorrow. BUT DAMN IT WAS AWESOME!!!

if anyone was ever interested in taking a Muy Thai class (or any other martial arts form), I highly recommend it. it's more fun than riding a bike at the gym and you learn how to defend yourself; two birds with one stone. :-) so yea, I'll be going back on Saturday morning for my second free class and more physical abuse. :-D

New School Project

For one of my classes I had to recreate all of the audio for a 3 minute video game trailer, I chose Guild Wars. It was fun but I definitely want to polish it up some more. :-)
