The word for today is ...

"Trivolous". Definition? Something that is trivial and frivolous. Simultaneously. Yes, I made it up. So what? I can use it in a sentence, and in the end, isn't that all that matters  ...

I have a rather trivolous co-worker at the office, one that refuses to accept the fact that not only do I know more than he does, but in the world of respect from our departments, I got him faded. Someone who questions everything that I tell him, even when he KNOWS he's doing something wrong. Someone who makes you not want to go to work some mornings because you know you'll have to interact with him. He goes out of his way to do the exact thing he isn't suppose to, and then leave it to the rest of us to clean it up. In essence, someone who motivates you to create words, because the words that exist currently just don't sum it up the way made-up words do. Like ass-monkey. Very appropriate in this particular situation ...

Ok, so I woke up and ...

You know, back in the day of being single (for me that was, oh 5 years ago). Things were a lot simpler. It was me, two cats, and whatever toy caught my fancy at the time. No dependents, no tax deductions, and way too many women calling my apartment. I had no intentions on changing that. Until I met ... her. There was nothing about her that was typical of the women that I dated, and to top it off, SHE HAD A SON! Complete red light. But I did it anyway. Movies, dinner, taking the boy to the aquarium, the whole bit. And somehow, before I even realized it, approx. 365 days after we met, I was standing in city hall saying "I do". No more frivolous spending, no more strange women calling at all times of the night ... everything changed. And then, two years later, WHAMMO!!! Not just one kid, but TWO! TWINS!!! So much for the inner-city happening apartment. We went from that to a small 3 bedroom Georgian on a block where we're the youngest people around. Get this: there's a minvan parked outside of my house. You heard me, a M-I-N-I-V-A-N!! I go to basketball games now where they don't serve any alcohol because no one playing is older than 15. You know the first time I changed a diaper? 14 months ago. I have NO room in my closet. None. And recently I've put myself on ... brace yourselves ... a BUDGET. But the funniest thing about all of this is ...

I don't think I've ever been happier in my entire life.

So I'm sitting here with my laptop while my clones lay on pillows in the middle of the floor asleep, for a change, realizing that my big screen purchase may have to wait until next year (not that I have anywhere to put it in this shoebox), and feeling like this is where I'm suppose to be. Yes, I've lost my single friends (why are single people afraid of married people?), but what I've gained in return is the best friend I've ever had. AND, whenever we're conscious enough, I get to sleep with her. BONUS!!! .

There was no feeling in the world like seeing the birth of my boys. Knowing that I have a pre-teen who despite the fact that none of my DNA is in him, acts just like me, and as far as he's concerned, I AM his father. Granted, in a few years I'll probably have to kill him, but hey, that puberty. And, best of all, that my best friend, my partner for life, the mother of my children, my love ... doesn't play video games, so I don't have to share . That is until I move the big screen from upstairs and she discovers UNO on Live. We may have another member on the board, ladies and gentlemen. Stay tuned ....
