Diary Of A Daddy Day 3

Well here I am, again, at 1.30 in the morning and babies are starting to take their toll a bit.  He has been restless all day and when he has settled then our daughter pipes up about something.  I've sent my wife to bed again so she can get some rest and I'll get some kip later on when she wakes up.  Tonight I have an NBA game to keep me going whilst settling him down.

I think it is trapped wind that's keeping him restless (if anyone knows any tricks apart from the usual winding methods then please let me know as we have forgotten!!!!)  We went out for a while today but my wife was knackered after an hour, bless her.   I managed to get online this evening for a few games of Halo 2 with 3 new clan members that have just joined up and that certainly took my mind off of a few things and calmed me down.  They were great guys and we had some great games so looking forward to more of the same soon.

Well, I'm going to dig in for the night and hopefully get some sleep at about 5ish, fingers crossed.  Here's to a better day tomorrow.

Not A Happy Raiders Fan

I have never, ever seen such a fucking half hearted shambles of a team as I did last night and to be honest I am not proud to be a Raiders fan this morning.  It stems from the coaching staff who spent most of the game chatting than giving the players the bollocking they all deserved. If that was me I would have been right up in their faces.

The O line never had a chance of stopping the rush and our d for the most part was a joke.  We have some quality players in there but I think their heads are as big as their wage packets and there is no heart for the game.  First things first though.  Al Davis needs to die!!!  Not that I wish him dead but it's only way he would ever give up the Raiders and that 1 dimensional vertical offense he tries every season.  When will the guy learn you will never bring back the glory years unless you're prepared to move forward and bringing back Art Shell ain't gonna help because, like many other Raiders coaches, he is a yes man to Davis.  The only time we recently got near a superbowl was the legacy of Jon Gruden who coached his own way and had the stones to stick up for himself.

I have to look at the plus point.  At least we didn't break the record for the most times sacked in a game.  That stands at 12 and we got 9.

Well, rant over.  It's been a busy night for me with the baby and now my daughter is up too.  I will get some sleep soon. I hope.

Diary Of A Daddy Day 2

I'm not going to babble on too much today as not much has happened and I am writing this now before I get a few hours sleep and get myself back on the night shift.

I couldn't believe how well he slept last night. The perfect baby. He slept through 7 hours without a feed and woke at 6am as I was going to get a few hours sleep. He has been waking up every 4 - 6 hours to feed get changed etc and that is it. I am still waiting for the tide to turn and for him to give us crap every hour or so but I have my fingers crossed.

The health visitor turned up this morning to check him over briefly and everything is fine and dandy. A few friends came round to see him for the first time which was cool and we both seem really refreshed from good rest because he is such a good boy.

As I said before I am up for the night shift again tonight. The Raiders are at Seattle on Monday night football so again I am a happy boy. The Raiders are my team and I know they will probably get their ass kicked tonight but you have to roll with the punches and take the good with the bad. The Colts beating the Pats by a touchdown was not what I was expecting and Brady choking under pressure was not cool. Great game though and I suspect both these teams will met in the AFC championship final where Manning will probably fall apart yet again.

Finally, I have found out why my son is sleeping so well. Marathon Halo 2 sessions while we are asleep cannot be good for a 2 day old boy:-

Diary Of A Daddy Day 1

Hey guys.

First and foremost, I didn't get the job at the BBC but getting shortlisted to top 10 in the end was a feat for me all by itself and has given me a lot of confidence in this field.

You probably all know about the arrival of my son now and have decided to write a little diary of what's going on through the day and how I'm feeling blah, blah, blah.  Gazzara JR (no that's not going to be his name, we just haven't decided yet and don't argue with me coz i'm tired - ok, lol) was born on Saturday 4th November at 1.08pm weighing in at a linemans size of 8lbs 7oz.  He was really quiet on the first day and wanted a few feeds and just slept for the rest of the time.  Unfortunately they had to be kept in evernight as he pooed during the birthing process and they wanted to keep an eye on him for 24hrs.

This was an ideal opportunity for me to get some rest and be able to deal with him coming home better and would allow my wife to get some proper rest when they got released.  You know how Karma can come back and bite ya in the ass?  Yup, it happened to me.  I was all tucked up inside our bed at home when the phone rings at 3.30am in the morning.  In a panic I pick it up and ask if everything is all right.  The response was that it was the alarm company and the store where I work has been broken into and could I attend.  What a fucking joke.  I was at the store until 9.45 in the morning waiting for police to take fingerprints etc and had to go straiht to the hospital afterwards.

Mother and baby were released at 3pm this afternoon and we have spent the rest of the time settling back in and trying to get some sort of routine going between the 2 of us so we can both get some rest and be fresh.  Our daughter Aimee has been getting involved as much as she can but is playing up as she is starting to feel jealous.  Extra cuddles for her over the next few days to give her re-assurance are on the cards.  Well I am on night shift at the moment as I want my wife to get as much rest as possible.  The Colts Vs Pats is live on tv so I don't have a wasted night.

Cometh the Hour, Cometh the Man

I have just finished my telephone interview with one of the producers from the BBC and I think it has gone well.  The conversation lasted just over 30 minutes when the alloted time was only 20 (I really don't know if that as a good thing or a bad thing but at lekast he didn't slam down the phone saying you twat!!!).

Both subjects that I initially submitted were well received and the bulk of the call was trying to explain in more detail about my ideas and how they would work in documentary form.

I now have a pants browning 2 day wait to see if I have a trip to Sheffield to battle for the place.

p.s. Thanks to Jerry's Orphans for bringing our Halo 2 league game forward slightly to allow us to play at a near sensible time.  Games were started at 2.15am our time and we got beasted badly.  Lack of communication and no strats were our main reasons for losing.  I always felt that these games would always be a learning experience as I know the quality of players we have around on this site.

I'll let you know what the answer is about the outcome of the interview as soon as I receive news.
