I survived Turkey Day ‘06

I like my in-laws. I do. But I think I have had my fill. Tuesday night we had dinner there and spent the evening. Thursday we were with them at my wife’s aunt’s house. Saturday was at their house for more food. Sunday was church(which never puts me in a good mood), lunch, and I just barely avoided dinner. I have decided that even though they are only a few minutes away, that we don’t need to see them until Christmas.

My 360 was very lonely this weekend too. In fact I think maybe my wife got more use from it (still playing VP) I have an urge to finish GoW on insane. Tonight I will host a public Co-op and see if any poor souls want to help me through it. I know I can’t finish it myself. Right now I am at the start or Act 4 and it is beating the hell out of me. Help!

Anyway, Gamefly brought Call of Duty 3 at the same time as VP, but I have been too busy to even put it in. I might try it tonight if Gears pisses me off. Funny thing is that I loved CoD2 and played it for months, but I have very little urge to try CoD3.

And as a closing note, I am closing in on the 10K gamerscore. It’s been my goal since I got the 360 last Decmember (on the 22nd I think?) Rentals and a few cake titles have helped quite a bit, but I earned every point. King Kong was cheap, Madden from last year was too. But I got every last point out of Oblivion, and have the game play hours behind it to back it up.

Hopefully I will see you online tonight!

Viva Piñata!

First off, due to… ah I guess “Posting” issues, I have had to write this three times. Turns out I have written something different each time. But here we go.

I am not ashamed to admit that I play Viva Piñata! Ok, I am ashamed, but I will admit it anyway. I have been interested since they announced it. I wanted to know what the new kiddie crack was going to be. Then about a week ago I showed my wife a review to see what she thought. She was interested, and that was enough for me to get it from Gamefly. She didn’t have to work until this evening, and she did something unprecedented. Mrs. Hack turned on the Xbox. And played for (I am guessing) 2 hours. Now I don’t know that this will hold her interest. Still though, its good to see her enjoy it, it makes having a mild addiction to gaming that much easier.

Then I played it for a bit. Its not bad. I kind of want to see what the garden would look like if Master Chief throws a grenade into the middle of it, but even without that, it’s not bad. Tonight I will be back on GoW, but I will give VP some more time this weekend. My wife however, may be on it much sooner.

Mutual assured destruction

So this morning, I got up at freakin’ 4 am to make it into work at 5. I needed to push a few buttons (which could have been set the night before on a timer) and hang around while other people tried not to break stuff that would cause me to do more work. Luckily that’s all done now.  But the good thing about that is that when I walk out the door ridiculously early, no one will complain.

Anyway, my first post last night has at this time 2 comments. I was shocked. I kind of figured that frankly if someone did read it they would quickly move on.

Last night, before the post, I did have a pretty good night playing Gears of War. Again.  Baine took some pleasure in killing me as usual, but the EvilBitch™ of the night was FL Krack3r. Don’t let the small gamerscore fool you; he’s actually a decent player. No less than three or four times did we kill each other simultaneously. Here’s how it typically went down. I am a sniper whore. Typically I run around with that as much as I can. I would see him “sneaking” up on me, and attempt to switch to the machine gun/chainsaw. By the time the damn thing loads up, he’s right in front of me, and I know I can’t shoot to kill before I am dead. Chainsaw it is. The shitty thing here is that he uses the grenades melee style. He tags me, I cut him in half, then blow up. Its Mutual assured destruction, but isn't that supposed to prevent people from trying it? Looks cool, but then we both would have to watch the other 5 or 6 guys play. I did win a few shotgun vs sniper (me) battles, one at point blank range. I must have gotten lucky, because all I saw was blood on my screen.

With GoW multiplayer, I am torn. I want to play with people on my friends list, so I have been playing mostly private unranked matches. But I also want my kills to work towards some achievements. For now I will stay unranked, but I hope they make it easier to play ranked with Friends.

And so it begins...

I never really thought that I should try blogging. It's not that I don't have anything to say, I do. Hell, most people can't get me to shut up. It's that I didn't want to make people like Baine feel stupid. But hey, what the hell?

So I don't actually know what I plan on talking about. In fact, I may end up like the many bloggers to forget to post for long periods of time. Weeks, years, whatever, if I don't post, don't be surprised. I imagine that you will get to know me should you actaully ever bother to come back and read more of the stuff I spew onto the page, but here's the first peak.

I don't know when it happened, or really how, but I became a fanboy. I hate that term, and as fanboys go, I tend to be rational. But... I love the Xbox. I want to see the other launches happening now go poorly. They won't, I know, but that doesn't matter. When I bought my first Xbox, it was to play Halo. I was tired of getting my PC to play the latest and greatest games, and wanted the new hotness that was Halo. I never looked back. I adpated to shooting with a controller and haven't bought a PC game from that point forward. Then Live and Halo 2 changed me again. About a year ago, I decided that I didn't want to wait for the HD revoution, and jumped onto the Xbox 360 bandwagon. Here's where the fanboy comes in. I don't want to hear about the goodness of the other platforms. I have more than enough to do with just one console. Therefore, since I have made up my mind, anyone who disagrees must be an idoit. Luckily, my cirteria for the "best" console has to do with online play. There everyone seems to expect the 360 to lead, rationally I know that, realisticly I don't care.

I have too much fun playing to even think about trying something else.

This wasn't honestly where I pictured my first post going. I was going to insult Baine, maybe tell the world that I fucked his mother. But seriously, who would believe that? I mean why would I bother, it would be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway.
