Almost forgot!

If you are trying to do the USB fix for Vista and you have already tried to install USB's, you may need to remove the drive via Device Manager first. Just open up Device Manager and look in the "Other device" And "Universal Serial Bus Controllers", find the drive and right click and click on uninstall. Then if the drive is in, remove it and then put it back in. I hope you can understand this. It's way too early.

Anger with Vista64/Fix for USB drives.

 

Well, I finally got USB Drives and MP3 players to be recognized with my Vista 64. The issue I had was that when I would insert any device, Vista was to locate and install the needed driver. This unfortunately didn't happen. Instead I got the “Unable to locate driver” Prompt. Needless to say, my USB stuff just sat collecting dust. Well, I finally decided to sit my ass down for a day and to figure it out. The things I learned on this journey. Microsoft's support is useless. Creative's support is useless. And my wife complains a lot. Ok. Microsoft didn't know what the issue was. I tried every hotfix and patch USB related I could find. Nothing. Creative was trying to tell me that my MP3 player was defective. Since it works on my wifes PC, I ignored them. Anyways, here is the fix for anyone who has the same issue.

Apparently, Vista is unable to locate the files that it needs.

Go to Windows>system32>Driverstore>Filerepository

Inside there will be a folder named “USBSTOR.inf_xxxx” The xxx's will be a variety of numbers and letters. You may have more than one of these folders. Just enter the most recent one.

Inside that folder there will be three files. You should be interested in two of them. “USBSTOR.inf” and “USBSTOR.sys”

Copy both of those files and paste them in the Windows>INF directory.

Reboot and you're good to go.

Stupid truck.

Well, my truck broke down on my way to work today. I'm so pissed. I think I'm cursed when it comes to cars. At least I'll get a chance to play Mario today.

Argh......

There are just to many games coming out in the next month. I just don't have the funds to purchase all of them. I'm torn. I can afford to two of them. Right now, I'm leaning twords getting Super Mario Galaxy. My Wii just sits there collecting dust. At first, I played the hell out of it. Then It got old. I enjoy playing games on it, but sometimes I just don't feel like waving my arms around like a dumb ass. I don't think I have even turned it on in the last month. My other option right now is Gears of War for the pc. It looks good yes. But I think I'm a little shootered out. Platformers were always my favorite games. Later this month I will decided on Unreal3 and Crysis........
