Little Big Planet Delay
I don't own a PS3, so I don't really care about the delay. Even if I did, it's only being pushed back 6 days. The reason for the delay is what I find interesting. Apparently a Muslim gamer was offended by the use of a song in one of the levels that cited passages from the Quran, stating that it's offensive to Muslims to have the readings of the Quran put to music. With all due respect to people's religious beliefs, please stop this insanity!!
Now what I find strange is that it is from an actual song that was released some years ago. BY A MUSLIM ARTIST!! So it must not be offensive to ALL Muslims, right?? If you follow my logic, it appears that one single person with a gripe caused a major video game publisher to delay not only a video game, but arguably that publishers most anticipated release of the year. Simply because they played the Religion card.
My question is this. If a single Catholic/Christian or Jew or Atheist claimed to be offended for some reason, would the end result be the same or would it be ignored? Seems there is a double standard at work here. I don't normally like to talk religion or politics, I believe that everyones beliefs are their own, and should be kept to themselves.
But this appears to be political correctness taken to a whole new, bat shit crazy level! And it makes me sick. You know what? come to think of it, I'm offended by "sackboy". Burlap sacks aren't cute and lovable. They're itchy and they don't stretch. It's a misrepresentation of burlap and that pisses me off! (Sorry, I had to lighten it up a little.)
I'm curious what everyone else thinks?

Are you a Gamer with Kids?
As a thirty-something year old gamer, with 3 young kids. I find it hard to find the time to get in my fix for playing games. I usually wait until everyone, including Wifey, are off to bed. Then I'll sit down for an hour or so and play whatever game it may be that night. And with the holiday onslaught of games headed our way, I'm never going to get to play through all of the games I'm interested in. I am just curious as to the gaming "habits" of the community members who are in similair situations. Now I'm not saying I would trade in one of my kids for a few more hours per week of gaming. Or am I??? I just think it's an interesting discussion. (If you don't, please don't bother replying.) Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
As a secondary topic of discussion, does your Spouse/Significant other normally play games with you or are they in another room watching Dancing with the Stars or re-runs of Bonanza?

Currently Playing
As suggested, I am putting this here because the few games I am playing aren't listed in the drop-down menus.
NHL 09
Mercenaries 2
COD 4
Order Up! - (on the Wii with my kids) This game, by the way, is a ton of fun if you have kids. It's like Diner Dash mixed with Cooking Mama. We have a blast with it.

NHL 09 Impressions
First of all, I want to thank the 2old2play crew for providing us all a space to dump our random thoughts about our beloved passion/addiction. I am really looking forward to being a part of this community. So I thought I would start with a few thoughts about NHL 09. (Sorry non-sports gamers)
Seriously....This is the best sports game I have ever played. And I haven't even gone on line with it yet. The Be a Pro Mode is the most addicting part. I have about 20 games in so far and I cannot stop playing. The leveling system is reminiscent of an RPG, gathering XP for playing a solid game. Albeit a slower climb than most RPG's I've ever played. But nonetheless, it keeps you saying "just one more game" as soon as the final buzzer sounds on the "last game of the night". I'm not going to go further into all the features. You can find those on a million web sites out there. Now I love Hockey. But I really think any sports fan should at least rent this game to try it for themselves. This is what a sports game should be.
