Christmas Concert - thumbs down :o(

So last night was the daughter's Christmas Concert.

I must say, it was not very good, not very good at all. (Thankfully it was only 1 hour).

I know that seems a mean thing to say, but the concert last year was LEAGUES better! EXPONENTIALLY so! Half way through this year's concert I asked the wife if the school had a new music teacher, she said "yeah". I said "it shows".

Last year's concert was so much more energetic, and entertaining, and interesting. I thought every single song sung (and play acted out) was great last year. This year there was no energy. The bulk of the program the poor kids just basically stood around, looked bored, and sang their songs. Occasionally, some groups were doing some 'dance' moves - but that was basically shacking their hands around. There was only one song the entire night that was 'good' and interesting.

It simply amazed how much difference a single teacher can make. I'm saddened that the music teacher from last year is gone... I can only hope the new one gets better by next year's concert!

On an unrelated note, I'm feeling pretty crappy today... this better pass by fast! I don't want to be sick during xmas!

Pet Peeves

Never thought I really had many pet peeves, and in the past I always used to answer "my sister', or 'yeah, my dog's name was Peeves' (never had a dog named that thought). However, thought about this recently, and I actually have more Pet Peeves than I realized.

Rush Hour Traffic
The slow pace. People tailgating. Assholes cutting you off to gain them that single car length, in the hopes they get home faster. Lack of courtesy by other drivers. People refusing to wait another light cycle so they proceed to wait in the middle of the intersection and now the traffic the other way cannot go
People who hide in elevators and then rush out only after doors fully open
Some elevators close pretty quick, so when you want on, you tend to be near the door ready to get in. Doors open, looks clear, so you start to get in only to almost be run over by the idiot who was hiding along the side and now decides they want out that the doors are fully opened and about to start to close again. I dunno... seems pretty logical to me to move you ass in front of the doors as they open, so you can signal your intent to leave the frakking elevator so people trying to get in aren't in your way.
Pedestrians who swim against the flow
Seems a pretty standard rule for 2-way traffic that you stick to your right side, so oncoming foot traffic is always passing along your left side. Some people don't grasp this, and will pretend to be a salmon swimming upstream during mating season.
You are not the only person in the store so move your damned shopping cart out of everybody's way!
I swear, there should be a license you need to test for in order to operate a shopping cart. If you are stopped in an aisle, please make sure your cart is not blocking traffic. Other people do need to shop too.
If you stop and gab, please move over
I hate walking down a hall, aisleway, or other chokepoint only to come across a large group of people who decided to stop right in the middle to gab. Move the frakk over people, be mindful of your surroundings and how much of an annoyance you have no become to all those around you.

Wow... all my Pet Peeves are about dumb people, lol. I guess people piss me off

I'm an idiot - short blog

And no, it's not because I bought Lego Star Wars - the Complete Saga yesterday (instead of CoD4) - suck it Natas

But, I did just hit the 'Delete All' button instead of the 'Delete Marked' button in my Inbox. I don't think I had anything important in there, god I hope not, lol.

I'd be all for the removal of 'Delete All' entirely - too dangerous - I've done it a few times now.

Happy Birthday to me! :o)

Today I am the big THREE-OH!

Yay on me. Too bad I am stuck here at work instead of out and about and drinking beer.... (yes, I think it's perfectly okay to be drinking beer at 9:30am...).

I have to admit, I do feel older. However, I don't think that has to do with my age, but rather the crazy amount of work on the house I've been doing in the past week.

Joe's Discount Delivery Service

Earlier this week, while I was out for lunch with some co-workers, we witnessed a truly bizarre thing happening. We were sitting by the windows, overlooking a downtown street. A car (I think a Honda of some sort) pulls up and parks. The guy inside is looking over a bunch of letters, and some packages, heck even some flowers. Sort of looks like he is about to deliver something nearby.

Not quite.

A second car pulls up behind him, they both get out and the first guy hands the second guy some letters/packages/flowers and he then puts them into his car. The second guy then went to his car and grabbed some letters/packages he had and gave him to the first guy.

Second guy drives away. At this time we notice the first guy is talking on a walkie-talkie. Shortly after, another car pulls up, and the both of them go through this package/letter exchange as well.

This all happened another two or three times, all different cars.

These people are certainly some kind of deliver service (there was no company signage on the cars or clothes though). We just found it truly bizzare that the central processing hub (the depot if you will) for this company seemed to be run out of a Honda.

Yes, when this all started happening we were all thinking, "Hmmm, maybe this is some kind of undercover drug ring or something".

Disney World here I come! :o)

Well the wifey made an executive decision today, and booked us and the munchkin on a Disney World trip for the end of June! (Or is it Disney Land? Well, whichever one is in Florida).

We were planning a road trip across western Canada, hitting up a bunch of places. However, we recently got a break on turning in our current car (wifey thought we'd owe a bunch on repairs, but they waived those repairs due to us getting another vehicle there). So, not having to spend the money on that, and taking into account the money we would have spent on the Western Canada road trip, she figured this was a good time to hit up Disney. Before the munckin is no longer a munchkin!

So, anybody have any suggestions on things I CANNOT MISS in Disney World/Orlando?

Hands of Stone and Two Left Feet

Both qualities pertain to me, yet for some reason in the past week I have picked up both Guitar Hero 2 AND Dance Dance Revolution: whatchamacallit for the 360!

My fingers are far from dexterous, and I definitely dance like a white guy. So why did I buy these games?

Guitar Hero 2. I bought this mainly due to the buzz around this game. Seems everybody digs it. Also, I really dig Elite Beat Agents for the DS, so I figure this game will be just as enjoyable.

DDR: whatchamacallit. 2 reasons I bought this game as well. For exercise. To get my wife playing games too. She said she'd be interested in it, so here's hoping I can get her lazy ass away from the computer to get jiggy with it.

Do I regret any of these purchases? Hell No! At least not yet. I fumbled my way through Easy in GH2, then went into Medium. It started kicking my ass. I've since went back to Easy and began working on 5 star ratings. I'm almost done with that, so in 5 or so playing sessions, I've definitely shown major improvements. DDR2 - I really, really suck at this so far. If I am not getting the timings right, then I am fumbling trying to center myself back on the mat. I find myself getting off center quite frequently on the mat, which is annoying, and causes me to miss steps. I get the impression the packed-in pad is kinda crappy? Anybody know of a better pad? Preferably not one that will break the bank (so around 50 to 80 bucks I guess).

Oh, and go ahead and laugh at me playing DDR... I'm a big man, I'm okay with my wussy game purchase

Car thieves in my city suck

If it isn't bad enough that car theft occurrences are insanely high here in Winnipeg, this past Friday a stolen car purposely ran down a 49 year old jogger! This was after the same car buzzed a handful of other joggers.

WTF?!?!

I hope these kids are found... actually I don't think it will make a difference, they'll get their little hands slapped and be back on the streets in no time. The Young Offenders Act is a joke, and it desperately needs to be amended so further steps can be done to keep punk ass car thieves off the streets, especially ones who try to run down pedestrians.

This better not be the new 'thing' that is 'cool' among car thieves in the city, or I'm moving!

Crackdown & Gears leads to lack of sleep

Played my team's (ARTofWARx2) final ladder match for Gears of War last night. Looks like we are going to end up 3rd (maybe 4th, depending on games today), which is pretty damn good! Oh yeah, first team to reach 10 wins! Yeah yeah, I know, we also played the most games - all the credit goes to Doscon our team leader, he did an awesome job finding us at least a couple of matches a week!

The ladder ends after today, then we get to play a tourny with the top 8 teams. This should be interesting. I hope we get to play the teams ahead of us, as I am curious to see how we'd fare!

I think I logged 2.5 to 3 hours of Gears last night. After the ladder match I logged off and did the dishes - if I would have left it any longer, then I'd have an even bigger pile to deal with the next day! Plus I needed to get up and stretch out a bit before I sat back down to some Crackdown addiction!

I ended up doing Crack(down) until 1:30 in the AM! Ack! I got into one of those situations where I was saying to myself: "okay, once I get my Firearms skill to 4 stars, I'm logging out". Of course once that happened, I said the same thing about Strength... then explosions! And would you know it? As I was leveling my Explosion skill I pretty much wiped out all the enemies around a gang boss, so it was now, let's kill this boss before bed. *sigh* addictions suck... it's a lot of fun while playing, but the next day at work just sucks!

So, here I am, just ate some lunch, read up on all the forums I check out here, and decided I needed to write a journal to keep me awake! I'm already made my way through 2 extra-large coffees from Timmies* - and I'll be getting a third in a little bit.

*Timmies in this situation refers to a very popular Coffee chain in Canada called "Tim Hortons". I was not talking about getting coffee from young, annoying, punk-ass, parents should beat sense into Timmies we encounter online gaming!

My very first blog here!

Well I finally got around to setting up a blog title image as well as a background, which means I am finally going to start blogging here! I just never felt very comfortable doing so until I made it look a little nicer!

I'm actually really happy with the title image, it was so quick and easy to set up, I even found a font called Han Solo, which gives it a Star Wars-ish feel.

So, I guess I'll do a standard first blog and say a bit aboot me (yep, "aboot", I'm Canadian after all, eh?).
