Adventures with the PS2

I have been playing Tourist Trophy since I got it however need to tell a funny story about what happened when I put it in my PS2 the first time:

I put the disk in after powering up the PS2. The Browser screen came up...but it just stayed there.  Sometimes it does that so you have to enter the browser and it will show you the memory cards and any disks in the system.  It was showing my memory cards (had one in each slot) and nothing else...NO DISK I tried ejecting the tray and reinserting it...to no avail.  I put my GTA disk in and no go either.  Now I am getting frustrated. ;  I checked all the connections...even went so far as to put a disk in my PS1 and putting the switch box on that system...which was working just fine. So I switch back to the PS2 and still get no load of the disk...I thought maybe the time or something needed adjustment due to being unplugged for a short time when I moved stuff around to accomodate my 360. I tried that and still NOTHING. ;; NOW I am ANGRY!!

When all else fails, start beating on the hardware.  I hit it on top and on the sides with my hand...then flipped it over and slammed it pretty hard on the speaker it sits on....At this point I didnt care if I broke it because in my opinion it already was! Of course, I did this without the disk in....finally gave up and went to dinner with my husband.  I was pissed all thru dinner that I would have to fork out $150 if I wanted to play this game!  Grrrrr Really didnt want to buy a new one with the PS3 coming out at some point in the future....

So we get home and I figure what the hell...let me try again. I put my GTA SA disk in and lo and behold, it began loading the game!    I was shocked to say the least especially after knocking the PS2 around pretty hard.  So I put Tourist Trophy in and attempted to play....I say attempted because by this time I had had a few beers and was feeling pretty buzzed.  Definately too drunk to drive a motorcycle even on a video game. I crashed ALOT. 

I was able to play it sober the next day....  Better get back to work and will have to save my review of the game til later. 

But I have to give Sony props for building an awfullly sturdy game system! ;; I cant imagine it still worked after what I did to it. ;;

Tourist Trophy on its way from Gamefly

I just received an email from Gamefly that Tourist Trophy has been shipped.  I have been waiting for this game to come out with high anticipation ever since I first read about it.  I love the detail and immersion of Gran Turismo.  I own a sportbike (as the picture on my blog might hint at).  This game will allow me to "ride" my bike the way I would like to in real life but am too chicken and too inexperienced to do.  Track days are expensive when you add in the extras you need in addition to the cost of track time...when you have to get leathers...race plastics...tires suited for the track and an extra set of wheels to put them on....etc.  So I cant wait to check this game out.  I will post a review of it as soon as I can. 

Curious how many other members at 2o2p ride motorcycles and how many of them ride sportbikes rather than cruisers?  I am already a minority by being female and then throw in being over 40 (just turned 41) and riding a sportbike rather than a "chick" bike like a sportster or Shadow...(no offense to any guys who ride these....) 

My birthday was recent as I mentioned above...I got the "big" present finally yesterday.  My husband had ordered me a Puig Racing windscreen to replace the stock windscreen.  Cant wait to put it on the bike and take for a test ride!  He also gave me a gift certificate for one of my favorite stores:  GAMESTOP.  Currently I dont need to buy any games as I use Gamefly to rent them first.  I own: Condemned, Need For Speed Most Wanted and Oblivion.  Kinda need to focus on finishing them first before adding to my collection.  I do mean collection....I have lost count of how many games I actually own between the PSOne, PS2 and Xbox.  Buying games had become something of an addiction.  There are some games I bought, never played...left unopened for the PSOne that I finally traded in at Gamestop at a significant loss financially but I was never going to get around to playing them...so figure get something out of them!

Better get back to work. 

Two days w/o playing Oblivion

I have not played Oblivion since Tuesday night.  Wednesday night I downloaded and played the Tomb Raider Legends Demo.  Last night I caught up on some of my Tivod shows.  Early in the week I had stayed up too late playing Oblivion and was sorely lacking in sleep.  Tho I was tempted to play some Oblivion last night...the idea of actually getting a decent amount of sleep won.  Ive been terribly behind at work and lack of sleep was not helping with the motivation to catch up.  In fact, I shouldnt be updating my blog during work hours but here I am doing just that. 

Wishing the weather would get better around here.  Its been gloomy, windy and rainy too much the past several weeks.  I would like to get my motorcycle out for a nice ride but I dont want to ride if it might rain unless I absolutely cannot avoid it.  Since I am not going to school this semester (since I got my degree last Fall...and am waiting on word wether I have been accepted into the graduate program for Fall 2006...) I am not being "forced" to ride my motorcycle so I can get to school faster from work and park closer to my classes.  My poor bike is feeling neglected since Im not riding it so much due to not being in school.  Im glad Im not taking classes this semester because the weather has been so wet.  For sure I would have gotten stuck riding in the rain several times by now! 

My graduate school admission interview was Wednesday morning...and they said they would get word out by email and letter within a week....but damn...I am not patient when it comes to waiting for something like this.  Its like being a kid waiting for christmas to get here!  Every time I hear "Youve Got Mail" my heart skips a beat...and I open my mailbox HOPING that the email with the verdict is there finally.  I know it has only been 2 days...but they did say that they would make a decision within a "couple" days...and doesnt "a couple" mean 2 to most people?  LOL  Driving my husband CRAZY worrying about it. 

Guess I better get back to "working".
