Thought I'd join in the numbered list fun...

THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED (OR NOT HAPPENED) TO ME SINCE MY LAST ENTRY...

1) I got tons of supply teacher work.  This rocked, almost 4 weeks straight of not working for the in-laws construction company.  However, that streak is very much over now...back to the shovel.

2) Our house has NOT sold.  This sucks.  We leave for Alberta in 3-4 weeks, if it doesn't sell my wife will have to stay behind until it does.  That would also suck.

3) Our basement leaked.  It's now even a year old.  We didn't even know about it until the real estate agent was showing someone the house...SURPRISE!!  Would you like to buy this house with mud in the basement....no?!?!? hmmm

4) The NHL and NBA seasons both ended, both finals were incredibly meh...

5) Forza 2 came out.  Enough said.

6) I got my teaching schedule for my new job out west in September.  It kicks ass.  Lots of P.E., some accounting and law, a little careers thrown in the mix...

7) A youth pastor friend of mine asked me to be a leader on his youth group service trip.  We leave tomorrow, bright and early from Toronto, so I'm leaving in a few minutes to go down to the big city.  We are taking 10 high schoolers to Grand Rapids.  Should be a great week.  100ish high school kids from all over USA and Canada giving up a week of their vacation to help others.  These things are usually an absolute blast.  I'm looking forward to it.  Plus it's another week of not working for the in-laws construction company.

Illegitimate Love Child

Last night I turned on the tube to find my two guilty pleasures had birthed a bastard love child. Jon Bon Jovi was on American Idol. SWEEEEEEEEET. I haven't watched too much of Idol this season, but I couldn't resist last night. I thought it was cool. That's all.

In other news, I FINALLY got on the supply teachers list, and have started to get calls right away. I've got 3 days booked this week, and already two days booked for next week, with the possibility of two more, if they don't overlap between the two schools. Every day I don't have to work for the in-laws is a happy day for me!!! Although I guess I shouldn't complain since I can basically give them zero minutes notice (as i did on Monday) that I'm not coming in to work if a school calls me to teach. Not to mention the INSANE amount of money supply teachers get paid around here, I'll have enough for that wireless racing wheel and Forza II in no time.

Two sets of my friends had happy, healthy babies (one set of twins even!!) How cool are twins. I've always wanted to know some twins, so I could call them "the twins". Another happy healthy care moment - my friend Marisa has taken a turn for the BETTER in her fight with cancer. She just got some new CT scan results and the cancer has NOT grown anymore, and one of the tumours has even shrunk! Please pray for her.

I hope our house sells soon. Once it does we will know out budget and can go out west to look at possible houses there. The next few months will be exciting. But excitement is better than boredom.

Sweetness...

My vacation to florida was good.  It's weird to spend two days straight in a car with your wife and your parents, but I managed to do it twice in 10 days.  I learned a few lessons while down south:

1)  Disneyworld (land? whichever one is in Orlando) is for kids, but not for me.  Although it was fun to watch my wife run around like a little kid...She would live in that damn castle if they let her.

2) I LOVE outlet stores (especially Nike), of which there are plenty in the Southern US.

So between Disney and the outlets, byebye income tax return...

The best thing about my vacation really had nothing to do with my vacation.  The week before I left the principal of a school in Alberta that I had applied to for a job next September phoned and said they wanted to do a phone interview with me that week.  I said he would have to call me in Florida and that was fine.  My interview was Wednesday night at 9 Florida time and lasted til about 10.  The next day was Disneyworld and we left early.  When we got back to the resort, my mom said the principal had called at like 8 in the morning.  It was almost midnight (so 10pm in Alberta) when I called him back.  I GOT THE JOB!!!  As of July, we're moving to the Red Deer area....no more working for the in-laws, no more humping construction garbage all day...SWEEEEEEEEEET!  Only 4 more months, I can do it.  I think....

In other news:

- only two or so weeks until I go to Pittsburgh to see the Penguins play, can't wait.

- my nephew can hear now.  They turned on his cochlear implant while we were in Florida, and he heard us for the first time last Sunday.  Very cool.

- please pray for my friend Marisa and her family.  She has taken a turn for the worse in her very courageous battle with cancer.

- tomorrow is Friday, which is sweet.

My First Blog

Since I've been loving 2old2play for 6 or 7 months now, I thought I'd do this.

My life in a nutshell:

I'm almost 30

I love my wife

I also love my XBOX 360

Interests besides games: sports, mostly volleyball (2play), and hockey/basketball (2watch), surfing, music of all kinds.

Right now I work in construction, which sucks.  Not that there's anything wrong with it, it's just not for me.  It also sucks because my father-in-law owns the business, and my brother-in-law is my supervisor.  It's not a job I wanted, but a job I was given when I couldn't get a teaching job this past school year.  I've tried to make the best of it, and I'm really praying for a teaching job for next September.  I've also just passed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police RPAB test and I am going to see where that leads as well. 

I live with my lovely wife in beautiful Belle-vegas, Ontario, Canada.  She's not a gamer, but she has no problem with me being one.  Although when I got home from doing the groceries last night, I caught her playing Crackdown, so who knows, maybe she'll come around.  She also digs Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and most other coop games that are easy to play (basic button mashers).

This site rules, whoever started it (doodirock??) is a legend in my books.  I've been on it since I got Xbox Live, so I don't have tons of bad experiences to compare it to, besides the odd sh#*head in nhl07.  I'm big into NHL 07 and most other sports games, and basically anything else I guess.  Guitar hero 2 and forza 2 (with the wireless wheel) are my next 2 must-haves.
