That's great, but who the hell are you?

It occurred to me that my first post should have been about myself as opposed to just spouting an opinion.....so, here goes. Hopefully this will give ou guys a bit of perspective...

My first name is Jeff, hence the J in Jmarps. Marps is short for my last name and is a nickname I have had since eighth grade. However, my friends cvall me Velvet...you can call me velvet....

I live in Kittery, Maine, which is a town in the souteast corner of Maine, right on the New Hampshire border. As a matter of fact, Iwas born and raised in New Hampshire in a town called New Castle.

I went to school at Bentley College, UNH, and Daniel Webster College. During and between schools, I worked in the food service industry (translated=restaurants) for 10 years. 6 years ago I switched careers and started working for a large insurance company in our area writing software requirements. Not coincidentally, I got married 6 years ago. Marriage and bartending do not seem to work well together....

We own two dogs, Duke and Chloe, and we are expecting our first child in March, which is very exciting and scary and everything all at once. It's like riding a rollercoaster and I am on the part where the coaster is going up the hilll....

I'm a Leo, I'm 5,11", weigh about 185 lbs (this has been changing lately, just quit smoking -- see above about expecting and that does not help with keeping weight off). I don't like parties, but I love gatherings...(jk)...I wear boxers and boxer briefs when I go to the gym (don't want mr happy sneaking out of the shorts.)

I think that's plenty for now. Gotta watch the Pats. Tied up right now at the begnning of the second....I'll try to post some more stuff about myself over the enxt few days. I'm sure you will be riveted looking for updates!

1st Post

Just thought I would give this whole "blog" thing a try. Not sure how much I will post as I write for a living. Not sure if I will enjoy writng for fun.....but Doodi is offering pts and that's good enough for me.

So how about some serious sucking up to begin. I have been a member here for about a year now and the growth that has happened at this site since then has been remarkable. When I first joined, this was a Halo 2 site, or so it seemed to me. Now, there seem to be discussion about just about everything and just as many opinions. I have "met" a few people from the site an can tell you that my time with them has been the most fun gaming I have had since I first slipped a quarter into a Space Invaders game.

The Podcasts were a great addition, even if they need some metamucil. (For those who don't know, metamucil keeps you regular, ya know, scheduled, expected, same interval of time between occurences.) The news has been fantastic over the last few months. And is their better bathroom reading than the magazine?  I can honestly say that without this site, my workdays would be signifigantly less interesting....

Well enough of the gratutious brownnosing. I will try to think of what to write next as well as a title and some better looking wallpaper, etc. Until then...
