Learning to Spell

This weekend I had my daughter since my wife was enjoying Black Friday and Crazy Saturday.  We went to Home Depot to look at something and she had to go to the bathroom.  Well she is 4.5 years old.  Not quite old enough to go to the ladies bathroom by herself and almost old enough NOT to be in the men's bathroom.  Home Depot doesn't have family restrooms so I take her into the mens room and cover her eyes if needed.  So, she is sitting in there and she says to me, " look daddy someone wrote on the wall."  I didn't say much and then she says, "Daddy, it says F U "  At this point I stopped her and said not to continue and that it was a bad word.  I hope she didn't say anything to the teacher yesterday.  "Hey teacher, I learned how to spell a new word".  DSS shows up at my door..........

Oh, the joys of being a parent. 

Daughters are special

I love my daughter..... Here is an email I received from my wife. My wife went up to her mother's on Sunday. I will be going up Wednesday.

I bought her a small purple My little pony Christmas tree yesterday- about 14 inches high. It came with ornaments that you put stickers on and a star. She decorated the little tree this morning and I told her let's go find a place to put it. So we tried the coffee table- she didn't like that. we tried another table- she didn't like that. I asked, "where do you want to put it?" She said, "I want to put it on Kerri's grave." Wow! I almost lost it. I'm still trying to hold it together. We're going to go by there today on our way out to town and let her do it.

This weekend she had a friend over on Friday night. My wife overheard her tell her friend she was glad she was here. Then my wife heard her tell her firend that she said she had an older sister but she never got to play with her, because she was in heaven.

See, Kerri is her "big" sister that she never got to meet. Kerri died in 2001.

I have tears in my eyes now.

Time to go home
