Learning to Spell

This weekend I had my daughter since my wife was enjoying Black Friday and Crazy Saturday. We went to Home Depot to look at something and she had to go to the bathroom. Well she is 4.5 years old. Not quite old enough to go to the ladies bathroom by herself and almost old enough NOT to be in the men's bathroom. Home Depot doesn't have family restrooms so I take her into the mens room and cover her eyes if needed. So, she is sitting in there and she says to me, " look daddy someone wrote on the wall." I didn't say much and then she says, "Daddy, it says F U " At this point I stopped her and said not to continue and that it was a bad word. I hope she didn't say anything to the teacher yesterday. "Hey teacher, I learned how to spell a new word". DSS shows up at my door..........

Oh, the joys of being a parent.

Daughters are special

I love my daughter..... Here is an email I received from my wife. My wife went up to her mother's on Sunday. I will be going up Wednesday.

I bought her a small purple My little pony Christmas tree yesterday- about 14 inches high. It came with ornaments that you put stickers on and a star. She decorated the little tree this morning and I told her let's go find a place to put it. So we tried the coffee table- she didn't like that. we tried another table- she didn't like that. I asked, "where do you want to put it?" She said, "I want to put it on Kerri's grave." Wow! I almost lost it. I'm still trying to hold it together. We're going to go by there today on our way out to town and let her do it.

This weekend she had a friend over on Friday night. My wife overheard her tell her friend she was glad she was here. Then my wife heard her tell her firend that she said she had an older sister but she never got to play with her, because she was in heaven.

See, Kerri is her "big" sister that she never got to meet. Kerri died in 2001.

I have tears in my eyes now.

Politics and Kids

Very interesting to see how politics and media affect children. Case in point: My 4.5 year daughter.

I can't vote (my wife can) and politics is not discussed very much in our house. We didn't watch the debates, we don't watch a lot of news. Yes, I have opinions on the whole election ,and the billions of dollars spent, butthis is not about that.

Last Wednesday (Nov. 5) I was driving my daughter to school and I was listening to a radio station from Atlanta. Of course they were talking about the election results. My daughter heard the word "Obama" and out of hte blue said, "I hate Obama". I couldn't believe it. I told her that wasn't nice and that he was our next president. I racked my brain to see if I or my wife eversaid something like that. I couldn't think of a time where I said that. She then said that they talked about Obama in school.

She is 4.5 years old.

The next day, I talked with the day care director since I believe my daughter heard this from the aftercare teachers. The day before, one of them was wearing a pink t-shirt that said Palin Power. I sort of wondered if that was an appropriate shirt for a day-care worker, but if they have no rules against it, then it is ok. I find out from the day care director that on Tuesday the 3 - 4 year olds had a mock election. WHAT !!!!! At that age?????? She said she was worried about it, and she said it was interesting to hear the childrentalk about the candidates. I am sure they were jusy spitting back what they heard mommy and daddy say.

Quick digression: I heard one lady on the radio the day after election say she voted for Obama because McCain was a criminal. The radio hosts were stunned. The lady said, "Well, he was in jail so he was a criminal" Hmm.. I guess being a POW makes you a criminal. WOW.. it is that kind of mis-information that gets me mad.

Anyways.... Wife gets home from being gone for a week. We are sitting on the couch talking and my daughter is sitting, on my wife's knees. The tv is on in the background and nobody is paying attention to it when somone on tv says something about "Obama". My daughter throws her hands up in the air in exasperation and says, " Obama, Obama, Obama! All I hear is Obama. Obama on the tv, Obama in daddy's truck, Obama at school. I am sick of Obama!" As she throw her hands up, she throws her body back and gives out a huge sigh. It was quite comical. My wife and I laughed.

Tonight, I am watching the news and of course the word "Obama" is said and again she says, "I hate Obama". Again I scolded her about using the word hate and told her she better get used to the word, because he was president for at least 4 years.

Again, she is 4.5 years old.

I find it very interesting that a 4.5 year old is sick of Obama and we haven't watched much tv. If she is sick of him now, I wonder what she will say in four years.

Workout From HELL

OMG, I will NOT be able to move tomorrow.

I work out at least 4 if not 5 days a week. Spinning a couple of days and weights or running the other days. Today our instructor had something sepcial for us. Our gym has a 1/8 mile floating track above the weight room and one of the gyms. Today he has us go up there and work out.

Today's Workout.

1 ) Jog 2 laps
2 ) Lunge 1/4 of the track with 40 pounds
3 ) Job 2 laps
4 ) Lunge 1/4 of the track with 30 pounds
5 ) Jog 2 Laps
6 ) Lunge 1/4 of the track with 20 pounds
7 ) Jog 2 Laps
8 ) Lunge 1/4 of the track with 20 pounds.

= 1 mile jogging + 1/8 mile lunging with weights

Then we did:

50 push-ups
100 Mountain Climbers
15 Burpees

I will NOT be able to move tomorrow. The bad thing is that I have a 9 hour drive tomorrow.

My response: [14:37] that makes absolutely NO SENSE, BUT if you download the internet that will fix your problem

Special Day

Today is a special day.

I learned about 2old2play while in the Dallas airport. I was glancing through an Xbox magazine when I saw an article about gamer websites. When I got home from that flight I went straight to the computer and joined.

Crazy Story from my Mother

WOW !! Crazy stuff

[17:03] My Mother: Hey Pastor A and one of his church deacons were going to a meeting in Crimea and on the way the guy (Sasha) had to pee so he stopped on the side of the road went into the bushes.
[17:03] My Mother: When he came out he showed Pastor A where a snake got him and he was holding it on his leg and squeezing the stuff out.
[17:04] My Mother: Pastor A wanted him to go the hospital immediately but the guy said no I will be fine
[17:04] me: are there posious snakes in Ukraine?
[17:04] My Mother: NOT that we knew of. ANyway that night t looked bad and again Pastor A wanted him to go to the hospital down there but again the guy refused.
[17:04] me: when was the funeral?
[17:05] My Mother: The next day the guy said that his leg was a little less red and not so painful so they came back to F~~~~~~~. That night in his sleep he died.
[17:05] My Mother: They took him to the morgue because it was in the mddle of the night (they normally bury the same day). About 6:00 am. he woke up naked in the fridge with a tag on his toe.

[17:06] My Mother: He started banging on the door. The guy from the morgue opened it and Sasha sat up. The guy fainted dead away

[17:06] My Mother: Sasha crawled out and grabbed a sheet to cover himslef. YES FOR REAL
[17:06] My Mother: He called his wife to come and get him.
[17:06] My Mother: Pastor A was home planning a funeral when the guy called.
[17:07] me: HOLY CRAP !!!
[17:07] My Mother: Isn't that amazing. The funny thing is that the doctor at the hospital has called many times trying to get him to come in and reverse the death certificate by SIGNING something legal.
[17:08] My Mother: Sasha keeps saying I haven't got time. You know it is a wonder they didn't do an autopsy but because Pastor A told them about the snake bite and they could SEE it, they didn't do the autopsy.
[17:08] me: so obviously he didn't die. He was in a coma or something
[17:09] My Mother: Only thing they can figure is that the venom caused his heart rate to slow down to the point where it was not audible but wouldn't you think he would have gotten grey and stiff?
[17:09] me: it takes a few hours for rigor mortis to set in.
[17:09] My Mother: Wouldn't you think they would have hooked him up to a machine to make SURE he was gone?
[17:09] My Mother: OH
[17:09] My Mother: I didn't know that.
[17:10] me: in US they would hook him up to a heart monitor to see if there was any heart activity
[17:10] My Mother: Anyway, it was quite the stir around here...it happened a couple of weeks back. He was in church last Sunday when we were there.
