2007 SUCKED!!!

First of all, I'd like to apologize to everyone in the clans that I'm a part of since I haven't been playing the ole Xbox much at all nor have I been on the forums here much. In fact, I think this is the first time I've popped on since November. But after reading this, I'm sure you'll understand why. Now just like the title says, 2007 was a shit ass year for me! Oh it started really good but progessivly got worse and ended really shitty! First my father dies. I've talked on my blog about that so I'm not going into detail about that. Then I get shit on by my family about my religious views which started at my fathers funeral. Again though, I've blogged about that too. Then came the mountain of debt that my father was apparently in. I knew he was in debt but not that bad. A few letters to the bank though, some government money due to his death arrived, and a pension my sister and myself didn't even know existed helped wipe that out. So there I was, mid November thinking to myself, well that's it, no more can possible happen to me this year. Everything is taken care of, I can now sit back and enjoy the up coming holidays with my wife and daughter. Well, was I fucking wrong. My loving caring wife for whatever fucking reason decided to come home one night after going out with her sister and announce that she was leaving and wanted a divorce. Well, as if I wasn't kicked in the nuts enough this year. Her explanation made it worse so I ended up getting kicked in the nuts again. NO FUCKING REASON!!!! She just wants to be on her own. No reason?? Are you shitting me??? I begged her to at least tell me there was someone else, that at least was less hurtfull than no fucking reason. Nope. No one else. She just wants to be on her own. Well, I guess if there was ever a reason to walk away from a marriage of 8 years that would be it. Fucking headcase!! So 2007 was really fucking shitty. So I'm really hoping that 2008 is a lot better. Although I'll be a single father, trying to sell a house and going back to living in a shitty apartment!! But it will still be better than 2007!!

My Xbox Died!

I can't fucking believe it. With just two weeks to go until Halo 3 my Xbox dies on me. So much for having the game preordered as it's just going to sit there until I get my Xbox back. I even tried to look around to see if I could get a Core system anywhere but I guess with the recent price drop Microsoft has stopped making them as I couldn't find a single one. So I guess I'll be playing Halo 3 in October. On a brighter note, I saw Evil Dead The Musical again on Saturday. It's got to be one of the best shows I've ever seen and if it's coming to anyones town I highly suggest going to see it. http://evildeadthemusical.com I was fortunate enough to get splatter seats which is a must for this show!! During the second act my wife and I were completely drenched in the fake blood. Actually one of the actors sprayed blood directly at my wife and I. People all around me started to put on the raincoats that were provided but as I see it, this is part of the fun and why would you get splatter seats if you didn't want to get sprayed with blood. Everyone laughed and cheered throughout the entire show. In fact the cheers were so loud for some of the Evil Dead one liners that the actor playing Ash had to wait for the cheering to stop to continue with his lines. A very good time and a great show!!!!

Hail to the King!

I finally got some tickets to Evil Dead the Musical today. My wife and I have been trying since we found out they were coming back to Toronto in June! We saw the show a few years ago before they went to New York and it is one of the best things I have ever seen. We even managed to get front row in the "splatter section" Only way I was going to see this show! Sept 8 can't come soon enough!

Summer Movies

I just thought I'd write a little bit about 4 of the "summer blockbusters" I've seen this year. Now, a little warning, I will try to not give anything away in the movies I'm writing about but I make no promises. So venture on with caution. First up is probably the one movie that I have the hardest time figuring out if I like it or not. Live Free Die Hard. One of the main reasons for this is the rating. They definatly went for a lower rating than the R that the previous three went for. There is virtually no swearing. I think I heard shit once but other than that, your left with jackass and dickhead. It shouldn't be a problem but it didn't really feel like it was John Mclean. He doesn't even say his catchphrase in this movie which is another problem I had from it. Also, the stupid Mac computer guy is in it and I find him really annoying. I didn't care for him at all and spent the entire time hoping the terrorists kill him off. Other than that though it is a pretty decent action flick. Lots of things go boom, good fistfight scenes and lots of gun battles. At the end of it though it felt more like a watered down Die Hard film. It probably would of been a lot better as a stand alone film and not part of the Die Hard series.

Next up is Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End. I'm not going to spend too much time on this one other than to say it was just fucking terrible. If Johnny Depp wasn't in it I wouldn't even bother, and even he can't save this piece of shit. I don't know why sequels that are shot back to back end up being bad. Look at the Matrix and Back to the Future. Fucking terrible. Although I will say that I think the Matrix sequels a better than a lot of people admit too. Still not nearly as good as the first one though. I will continue to enjoy Curse of the Black Pearl but I will never watch either sequel again.

Next is Spider-man 3. Now Spider-man 2 is probably one of, if not, the best superhero movie I have ever seen. I absolutly loved it. This one, not so much. I'm not going to say it was Pirates bad but it was a let down considering how good the other two were. I personally feel that they could of elimated the whole black costume storyline and focus on the Sandman and the movie would of been 10 times better. Venom was absolutly pointless and did nothing to further the story along. Seems like he was put in as a fan service and nothing more. I mean, the movie is actually really good until Peter puts on the black costume. Then the movie seems to just go down the shitter and can't seem to get out of it. I had actually heard that the original idea was to put the Vulture in the movie instead of the black costume and I think it should of been done. I know I'm harping on it but I couldn't believe that such a cool comic book storyline was complete and utter shit on screen. I'll still probably get it on DVD though. At least then I can bypass it.

Lastly, Transformers. What can I say about this flick. Terrible story, terrible acting, stupid lame ass jokes and I loved every fucking moment of it. Who ever thought a movie that is so bad could be so good? Then again, who needs good acting and a decent story when you have giant fucking robots kicking the shit out of each other? Great movie. I highly recommend it to anyone going to see it. I've seen it twice and I'm probably going again. This movie is just non stop action from when it starts to it's ending. I couldn't believe the FX and how well they worked and how they didn't really feel like FX. Every character felt real. I can't wait for the sequel and I hope it doesn't end up like the other three sequels above.

Well, that's it for now. Next up, I'm taking my nieces to see Harry Potter. I haven't read any of the books or seen the other four films so this should be interesting.

F Walmart

I fucking HATE Walmart. I can't stress that enough. Maybe not the store but the shoppers inside. I don't know why people seem to lose their sense of common curtesy when they are in there. Why they fuck do they park their cart in the MIDDLE of one end of the aisle then walk to the other end to get the item they want? Why do people go to the express lane when they have a FULL cart? Why do people let their kids run wild in the aisles? Why do people use their fucking carts to push other people out of the way. I fucking hate going to Walmart. My wife is almost to the point where she won't go with me anymore. I'm completely miserable in there and she knows it, and the people around me soon know it. Why is Walmart different from anywhere else? If I go into any store at any time I don't get a fraction of the frustration I get walking around Walmart. I fucking hate it. And in case anyone hasn't guessed, I'm writing this after getting home from.........you guessed it...FUCKING WALMART!!!!

I did it!!

I finally did it! I went out today and bought an HDTV. 50" Samsung LCD! My wife rolled her eyes and said that's the last T.V. we buy!! I don't even care at this point. I just can't wait for it to arrive. I just have to figure out what to game to play on it first! I already have the movie picked out as The Empire Strikes Back is sitting on the DVD player waiting for it. I just can't decide which game to play first. I've heard that there is a definate difference playing Rainbow 6:Vegas on HD so I'm curious to see how much. At the same time I'd like to start up Dead Rising again since I can actually read the writing now. I know it seems kinda trivial to be thinking about which game to play but I don't give a shit! I'm just too excited!

Just Venting!

Just thought I'd vent a little bit today about all the fun things that are going on right now. First of all I had a great weekend! I spent it going through my father's things with my sister. We finally got the courage to go into his room and start going through things. I couldn't believe the things I found. I found things I never knew existed! One of the items of interest to me anyways was a family history detailing ever member of my family since they arrived in Canada from Scotland in 1866. Reading this family history revealled an interesting fact which I was shocked my father never told me. Then again, he never told me he had the family history. Apparently my family settled in a small town in Ontario called Owen Sound. Now what's interesting is that my family NEVER left Owen Sound. Every member of my family was born there, was raised there, and died there. Until my father. He was the first one to leave the town and I was the first one to be born outside of Owen Sound. I found that to be interesting. We also found a bunch of things that I was shocked my father didn't throw out. He had my sister and my report card for every grade in school. He had every single birthday card he ever recieved. He had drawings we did, school projects, Santa Claus lists, everything my sister and I did growing up! I never knew he was a complete pack rat! I also couldn't believe that he bought a two year warrenty on a 20 dollar toaster! But hey that just adds a little character to him. Now the other thing I really wanted to vent about is the apparent family fued I supposedly started. Now my family is Catholic, and I was raised Catholic. I however, now anyways, am not Catholic. I'm an athiest. But my father's funeral was a Catholic funeral. Which is were the fight apparently started. You see when it came to the part of the service where the priest performs the Eucharist, he gave it to my Grandparents, he gave it to my sister, he gave it to my nieces, and when he came to me I refused. I wasn't rude or anything, I just politly said that I couldn't accept due to my beliefs. The priest put his hand on my shoulder, muttered a few words which I guess was a blessing and moved along. I was unaware that anything was wrong until the reception. My aunts and uncles started questioning me big time. All because I didn't eat a little piece of waifer! They felt I was disrespectful of my father. After all, I was baptised into the Catholic faith despite what I think or believe now. I don't feel I was disrespectful. I don't really understand how not accepting the Eucharist is disrespectful. I would think it would be more disrespectful to accept it. But hey, what the hell do I know right. So now my aunts and uncles are all pissed at me. I don't know what I can do to fix it but then again, I'm also think that if this is what they are pissed at me for, then so be it. Be pissed. Fuck em all. I've lost my father and now everyone is angry cuz I wouldn't eat a waifer??? I shouldn't say everyone because my sister agree's with me. Although she's the only one. But I guess I'll talk to them this weekend or try to since everyone in the family is coming to my sisters house to see if there is anything of my father's they would like to keep. Or rather not talk to. I'll try to but I'm sure they won't talk to me. But hey, that's okay, cuz like I said before....fuck it!

Is it just me?

I have a problem. That problem is that I'm completely bored with gaming! I have been a gamer since my parents brought home a Coleco Vision and this is the first time that I am bored with gaming. Is it because there aren't any good games out there? No. It's because every game that comes out seems to be the same thing. There isn't anything truely groundbreaking and new. I thought for sure that the Halo 3 beta would get me out of my slump. After all Halo 2 is what got me heavily playing Xbox live. Sadly it didn't. All it was to me was just a glossier version of 2. Now I understand it's just a beta and not the final version but still, it was a bit of a disappointment. Everyone in my clan is tellling me to pick up Shadowrun. Again it doesn't seem to be anything new. Just rehashing everything thats been tried. The really sad part is that it doesn't seem like it's going to change. There absolutly NO games coming out this year that I'm interested in. I had hoped that the Nintendo Wii would get me out of this. For a time it had. The problem that I'm having now with it is it seems to just give a new way to play the same tired old games. I found myself grabbing my old SNES out of storage and playing that again. I found that it is really sad that I'm having more fun playing games that are 10 - 15 years old than games that are brand new. So the question is this, are games in a rut? Do they need something to come out that really shakes things up? It happens in the other forms of media. Whenever movies, or music, or books seem to get boring something brand new which no one has ever seen, or heard, or read comes out and completely shakes things up making all of the previous stuff enjoyable again. The only problem is, and please tell me if I'm wrong, nothing coming out seems to do this task. It's all just the same ole RTS, FPS, sports game, racing game, platformer, RPG. Just prettier.

First time blogging!

Well here it is!! My first blog. I've never done this before and I'm not even sure anyone will like or read this. I have a lot on my mind and I guess it's time to see what other people think of my thoughts. So if anyone is reading this please feel free to comment. Like it or hate it, just respond. I'd like to say that my first blog is something good but there is only one thing on my mind right now. My father passed away this past Tuesday after a short battle with Cancer. To me that's not really the bad part since I really lost my father 4 years ago when my mother passed away. Her death changed him into someone who really wasn't the man I knew as my father growing up. The worst part of his death was having to take care of my grandparents, his parent. They were burying their son. I spent most of my time talking with them and making sure they were alright which of course they weren't. Whenever someone came to see how I was, I directed them to my grandparents. It also really made me realize how warped burying your child really is. I'm a parent of a 15 month old and that is something I myself would never want to experience. It completely goes against nature. Our children are supposed to bury us, not the other way around. It is something that I hope no one ever has to experience or witness. I'm going to be spending a lot my time, as will my sister and my Aunts and Uncles making sure they are alright and can get through this. I'm not so sure my Grandfather will as he was already pretty ill going into this. All this though has made me wonder if we have been lied to about time. That time does not heal all wounds.
