email humor

Need a little humor today.....

LESSON to be learned from typing the wrong email address:

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a
particularly icy winter.  They planned to stay at the same hotel where
they spent their honeymoon 20 years before.

Because of their hectic schedule, it was difficult to coordinate their
travel schedules.  So, the husband left Minneapolis and flew to Florida
on Friday and his wife was flying down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel, and unlike years ago, there was a
computer in his room, and he decided to send an email to his wife.
However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and
without noticing his error, sent the email to the wrong address.

Meanwhile...somewhere in Houston...a widow just returned home from her
husband's funeral.  He was a minister who was called home to glory after
suffering a heart attack.

The widow decided to check her email, expecting messages from relatives
and friends.  After reading the first message, she screamed then
fainted.

The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and
then glanced up and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife

Date: Friday, October 13, 2005

Subject: I have arrived!
Dearest Love:

I know you are surprised to hear from me.  They have computers here now,
and you are allowed to send email to your loved ones.  I have just
arrived and checked in.  I see that everything has been prepared for
you're arrival tomorrow, and look forward to seeing you then.  Hope your
journey is as uneventful as mine was.

PS: Sure is freaking hot down here!!

Full Size Guitars for Rock Band and Guitar Hero

From Ars Technica

"Both Guitar Hero and the Rock Band series continue to be big sellers and impressive draws in getting casual players to buy expensive peripheral-laden games. With the news that peripherals between both games should be completely compatible, a new market has popped up for more expensive instruments." Read more

Up Up and Awaaaaay!

I finally got to ride in a Blackhawk this weekend.  It was pretty cool.  Our pilot made the smoothest take off and landing I think I have ever felt.  The day was perfect: no wind, cool temperatures, and just a little haze.  Totally worth the wait.  I took that shot over Lake Norman.

WTF happened to Rolling Stone?

I have been reading Rolling Stone magazine on and off for over a decade. Roughly 10 years ago, it was great and I really enjoyed reading it. Since then I lost some interest in the magazine. I canceled my subscription but I'd pick up a copy every now and then.

Several months back, I started receiving copies in the mail again. I never paid for a subscription and never got the "Happy Birthday, here's a subscription" card from anybody. Nonetheless, I'm still getting the magazine every two weeks. The quality certainly has deteriorated but there's this other thing that's really starting to annoy me.

In March, Barack Obama dominated the front page. At the time he was ahead in the primaries and everybody was talking about him. I disregarded Rolling Stone's liberal stance chalking it up to the fact that the rag is about current events, and Obama certainly was a current event.

Then I noticed a similar trend on the cover of nearly every issue in my mailbox. "Sarah Palin's history of lies"; "McCain's track record of failure"; "Why John McCain will sink this country". Those headlines aren't exact but you get the idea.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with Rolling Stone's political agenda. Personally, I'm registered independent and haven't made my decision yet. But I'd rather make the decision on my own terms without having Rolling Stone try to make it for me. I really don't need Pro-Obama/Anti-McCain propoganda shoved down my throat.

I don't remember Rolling Stone always having been like this. Even just 10 years ago, I don't remember politics being anywhere near the cover (except when the Clinton/Lewinsky thing happened but then what magazine wasn't talking about that?).

Fuck it, I'll just buy Penthouse and Hustler.

Ding dong the bitch is gone...

OK, OK, she was not always a bitch but she's gone of my life anyway.

We broke up last December but were still staying in the same house until we could sell it and it's finally done.  I put the sign "Sold" last week and moved out of the house last Saturday.  She'll stay in the house until the buyers moves in at December 1st.

Being out of the house is a relief, she's with her 4th boyfriend since we broke up and even if he's nice, I don,t give a fuck of him and was tired of beng in my room for all evening because she was in the house with him.  I made a final tour of the house saturday night and it was wierd.  I was seeing the house I lived in for more than a year and it was not my home anymore, like a stranger that sees a place that seems familiar but doesn't belong there.

Anyway, it's finally behind me and I can start all over again.

Gun Permit

Saturday I went and took my ccw class or gun carry permit class. It was from 8 in the morning until 6:15. Class was infomative even for somebody who has shot all their life. the only part of the day I didn't like was actually shooting. I got stuck between two women who had never touched a gun before. Sorry but this isn't the place to learn. You should know how to shoot before you get a permit. The lady to my left unpacked her gun for the first time since buying it at the range. The first distance we shot from was two yards. The intructor was trying to calm everybody down and had this lady pick up a rock and hit the target with it. She hit it dead center. Her first shot with a gun barely nicked the targets shoulder. These were full size human silhouetes. She did better with a fricken rock. At least she was safe. She kept her muzzle pointed downrange. Not the idiot on the other side of me. We weren't suppose to shoot until the instructor said fire. She got FI out and bam. You weren't even suppose to have your finger on the trigger yet. During one part of the shooting, we were suppose to shoot one shot when the intructor said fire and wait until they said fire again before we shot. This crazy lady beside me has shot off three shots before the instructor got finished saying fire. At one point she is loading her magazine and sticking the bullets in backwards. I kid you not. She couldn't figure out why the magazine wouldn't go into the gun. The crappy part for me is to actually get the permit, I have to have a birth certificate. Some how I have lost mine. I have dismantled the house looking for it. Gone. I was born in another state and was adopted at 12 days old. This just adds to the problem. Sure hope they can find it in a timely manner.

What a weekend.

Well, first off, I missed the 2old4Timmy Halo night, I signed on a bit too late and I think everyone was set to appear offline. But I was picked up by my other clan, 2old2shoot, for some COD4….now let me just say that this was my first time playing it online…so, sitting there in the staging area for the team deathmatch, my big bad level 1, looking at all the level 50-60 players…my first thought was ”oh crap”. But I held my own, I was never first but I was only last once….but when you are facing a whole team with matching tags who are that organized…yeah we lost bad, and I scored 1 kill…vs 20 deaths. But over a 2 hour period I ended up hitting level 8, not bad, only 42 levels to go before I can catch up to everyone else. So let me just say one more thing about that night….I hate people who pick that Martyr perk, I was only killed by getting shot about 10 times…the remainder of my 90-100 deaths came from those stupid “from the grave” grenades.

Next day…I slept in a bit, then had to go to a kid’s birthday party…YUCK!!. But I did get some great pictures of the kids playing Red Rover. But I realized how great of a parent my wife and I would be. We are standing guard over the cake…since it’s a party of 5 year olds, you have to protect the cake….when my little cousin (the birthday girl) walks up to the table and picks up a HUGE knife that they were going to use to cut the cake…two thoughts run through my mind…first thought was this would be a rather humorous picture…the second thought….someone should do something…I later confirmed with my wife that she was doing the same thing…yup…great parenting skills….and the worst part is I DIDN’T GET THE PICTURE!! (oh, and I guess I should mention that someone eventually did take the knife away from her)

After the pack of small troll-like people(some keep claiming they were children…but I saw how they swarmed and took down that piñata like a pack of wild dogs, shreading it and leaving bits of it scattered to the 4 corners of the yard.) we made a trip to Carlisle to a little bar called Blondie’s to see the wife’s co-worker’s band play (they are called MLC….Mid Live Crisis), that was a ton of fun and we had one of the best waitresses I have had since we went to the DC Fogo De Chao. She was rather short…around 24, and had this beautiful seascape tattoo from her wrist, up her arm and across her neck back and chest. She was the ONLY waitress in the whole place, and a few people were giving her a hard time, but she kept this wonderful smile the whole time. And the food was good too (I love bar food, the dirtier the place the better the food) (this place was quite clean, but it had the feeling that it had been there for a long time)

Sunday we curled up with Silent hill, then with Viva Pinata, mix in a few of our DVRed TV shows and that was the whole day! (I love days like that)
On another note, I have a fun job coming up, I received a call that one of the man made lakes in the area (about 1.4 acres in size) has sprung a leak in the dam and they have asked me to inspect and fix it. now I am not exactly an engineer, but I know my way around a dam pretty well, and since this is a relatively small job there is no regulations for patching a hole. I am jumping at the chance to get under the water again. it’s been too long... the last time I dove was a small scale salvage mission….someone (at the same lake) dropped their favorite fishing rod. But that was the warm water season…this time of the year the water will be below 50 degrees.
On yet another note, our (I mean my wife’s) new red controller arrived Saturday. There is nothing like the feel of a new, crisp controller...at least that’s what I hear, she won’t let me use it…but that’s fair, after all I did get it for her since she is planning to be more active with the clan.

Darn it, I forgot(again) to call to get the elite fixed…I miss the elite…how quite it was, and fast…*sniff sniff* why does god let bad things happen to good game systems?

Amazing / Football / Other

Well after consideration I think I might have to get Pure if it ever goes down in price.  Do I like racing games?  NO.  Then your asking your self why this game if he hates racing games?  Not sure why I like this game, but I do like it to a point.  The one that is getting me frustrated is the Freestyle because I am not that good.  Gain the most points to win is just hard for me.  Maybe with other members who play this it would be good.  Maybe I need to spend more time with this, but at the moment it is just being rented and will go back to racing the world again.  I gotta go back and pick up some point on the last round to get 64 out of 64 on each.  You know those points will come in handy later down the road.

The Texans lost in the last three minutes and Sage will not live this one down.  I actually thought he should have been the head QB over the Schaub and the other guy who went to carolina.  So tonight is Vikings vsSaints.  For me to be 5-0 in one of two fantasy leagues I need Adrian peterson to get me 8 points.  Would love a bunch more, but 8 for a win will do just fine for me.  The other league I am in, well lets just no go there since I am the bottom of the pack.

Two people gave me helpful tools to use down the road.  One from this site gave me tools to help me career wise adn the one off site gave me help hobby wise.  I do not metion any names cause this is just tween us and my way of saying thank you for your help.  Also I got into the top 25 bloggers on this site of all time.  So thank you everyone for all your help in at least clicking on my blog.  Tomorrow is the Audit so you will not see me on and post like normal.  Have a good day.

~Cheers

Crappy week forecast...

So far this week is not looking good at all.  Taking the dog to the vet on Tuesday.  He has a tumor on his left hind leg that has eaten away most of the bone and the vet was sure moved into his other systems.  We found this out a few weeks ago much to out dismay.  So the tumor has done nothing but grow and though he still has a healthy appetite...still has the strength to get up and move around...we can tell he is sliding down faster and faster.  The tumor has gotten huge...it looks like someone took a softball and shoved it under his skin...and its strating to discolor and grow little welts or something which is what we were warned of...so its time...I think they are most likely going to put him down.  11 years...almost 12...he's had a good life I think...he's been a good dog, but it still sucks....there just isn't anything we can do.  Another kick to the shin is that as some of you are aware I help take care of my grandparents.  Well my grandfather is being scheduled for another day a week at dialysis.  I'm basically the only one in my family who can make the time to get him to and from and then stay the afternoon there when he gets off to keep an eye on him.  We've already setup a home office over there, but I still don't seem to be able to get my full work day in on these days...I'm really not sure I can take basically losing another day of work a week.  Don't get me wrong...he's family and I love my grandparents dearly...in my rulebook...family always comes first...just got to find a way to get a little relief in here somewhere.  Well, the first part of the week is looking crappy as hell...I can only hope it clears up into some sunnier times towards the end.

Peace.
