Whoo-hoo!

God bless my poor limping XBox, it hung together long enough for me to finish Rainbow 6 Vegas tonight.

And I must say after the incredibly annoying cliffhanger ending of R6V, I'm glad it's coming out in just two more days.

Not my baby! Anything but that...

Well, I finally did it. I logged onto the XBox Online Repair system and  requested a box to ship the poor thing back for repair.

It's taking more and more tries to get the damn thing to run, and I ended up corrupting my profile AGAIN last night. This time I saved it to the flash card I bought (Hey, I found a use for it!). Once it's up and running, it runs like a champ. But it takes a half-hour to get it going, recover my gamertag, and log in.

The worst part will be not having it when Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 comes in. I was hoping to at least hit the ground running at the same time as the rest of the clan. But no, I will be coming late to the party, as usual.

I just need to look at the bright side. Now I can work on Super Mario Galaxy for a while.

Latest from XBox 360 Support

"We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your console. You have mentioned in your email that you see the lower-right quadrant of the Ring of Light flash red on the front of the Xbox 360 console, and give you an error message “System Error” that has the error code "E68". This behavior occurs when the Xbox 360 console experiences a hardware failure.

Please try these troubleshooting steps in order to resolve your problem:

1. Turn off the console.

2. Remove the hard drive.

3. Reattach the hard drive, and then turn on the console.

4. Obtain the latest automatic update for the Xbox 360. You may use a different hard drive or memory unit and a different Xbox Live account.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, your console may require repair."

I guess I could stand on my head and recite passages from Dante's Inferno, as well. It would likely do as much good.
