Ironic Statement of the Day
"It really is unbelievable that Mother Nature can create that much devastation. We need your prayers."
- Macon County Mayor Shelvy Linville on the recent tornadoes and storms that devastated his region.

Really is it that unbelievable? Is it unbelievable that 120 mph winds could knock out homes made out of plywood and carton? Or even a trailer made out of cheap ass sheet metal or aluminum?
I just don't understand how building codes in cities that are ravaged by natural disasters such as tornadoes so frequently have some of the flimsiest civil codes around. In cities with seismic activity all building or homes should by standard have Grade 60 rebar. So therefore I think some of these home should at least be built out of concrete and steel?

A volcano can toss a cubic mile of dirt in the air. An ocean wave can split a supertanker in two. It always amazes me when people show their profound ignorance of the natural world.
Mother nature is a bitch, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Well I think the irony might have escaped some, so my question is, if you attribute the devastation to "Mother Nature", then to whom do you pray?
