How's your luck with MacBooks been?
More specifically, how has your luck been with MacBook hardware failures? I've had good luck as far as having hardware failures goes. I bought mine in mid January and the optical drive was bad. I've been having minor, non-reproducable problems right along since then. It finally got to the point where it, like my 360, bricked. They tell me at the Apple Store that the logic board and/or the RAM is bad. I'm still under warranty, but it leaves me wondering: do I just have really bad luck, or is Apple hardware not as good as it used to be?
My brother (who just graduated from Newhouse, thereby proving that he is smarter than me) says that he knew about 20 fellow students with MacBooks, and about 10 of them had similar major system failures within the first few months. He also has other beefs with MacBooks, so I'm guessing that he's exaggerating the statistics a bit.
So, good or bad, what has your experience with MacBook hardware been? Have your friends' MacBooks worked well, or have they had major failures? I really want to hear both sides rather than only hear about bad experiences. I'd prefer it if I were a statistical anomaly. Leave comments, please.
