Lars and the real girl

Lars and the real girl, was an interesting movie of something that didn't expect. From what I knew of this movie I thought that this was a comedy that would make fun of the main character for falling in love with a doll. The reality this movie was not that. It turned out to be a very heartfelt comedy about a guy with delusions, in a small town community that came together to help him. It was rather touching. One of the surprising things about this movie is how this inanimate object actually has personality and how the community embraces the doll to help Lars out. Everyone in the town goes along with Lars, believing that she's a real girl. They go pick her up, take her out, and have her be involved in the community. It's an amusing and a very endearing story. If you haven't seen this one, yet, I highly suggest it.

Indiana Jones/Iron Man

I went to the drive-in with my girl friend last night for a double feature of Indiana Jones and Iron Man for $6. We were excited to see the new Indiana Jones but it turned out Iron Man was the much better movie.

Indiana Jones was a fair move but there was some very unrealistic aspects took away from the film and this one is centered around aliens which I didn't care for. I hope for the sake of the series that they don't make anymore at least not in this fashion.

Iron Man was a much better than I expected. It didn't start until about 11:45 pm and we were both tired. We deceided if it was crappy we would leave in the middle of it. We ended up watching the whole thing and it was a great movie. If you like any of the recent comic book movies then you will like this one too. It was well done with good humor and believable action sequences.

Firefly

I recently watched the first 3 episodes of Firefly. This is one of these shows I heard great things about but never wanted to buy the dvd's without seeing any of it first. Lucky for me I just got netflix as a gift and started watching it. I really like the show so far as, it keeps a decent pace with plenty of action and has my new love. By new love I mean, a girl I will never touch in real-life but is some sweet eye-candy. Her name Jewel Staite, I can't get enough her. Remind me to thank the girlfriend again for my netflixs subscription

My 30th Birthday

This past Saturday I turned 30. I am the young one of my group of friends and by young one I mean they beat me to 30 by a few weeks or months. Not really a big deal but I am the last of my close friends to turn 30. The fact that it was Easter weekend made it even better because my best friends Cranefolder and Raste both came into town for the holiday (visit with their families) and my birthday.

We had a small gathering for dinner at Macaroni grill with wonderful conversation and plenty of laughs as usual. The waitress sang and extravagant rendition of Happy Birthday to me in Italian. Afterward we went back to my place for some Cold Stone Creamery ice cream cake. Ummm chocolate cake with cookies and cream ice cream, O’ so good! Then we proceeded to drink a few beers and play my birthday present to myself, Rockband. Cranefolder got me a second guitar hero guitar so we could have a bass player and so I could now get the GH games without buying myself another guitar. Lucky for me Raste gave me a gift card to gamestop for my gaming pleasure, now the tough choice of GHIII or the orange box or possible wait for something else to be released as I have plenty of things to play currently with lots to do in RB and battlefield beta starting this week. On top of all of that my girlfriend got me a subscription to Netflix, which I am very much looking forward to, and should have movies on the way now. It was fun times had by all at my birthday party.

MS even game me present by asking me to change my gamer tag again, (see previous posts for more details) which for the moment is RattBaastard. I expect another change soon.

Round 3 with MS

This past weekend I purchased Rock Band for as an early birthday present to my self, which is an awesome game. However, that is not the point of this blog. As I was playing I notice my tag was not logged into xbox live. I tried logging on and with not to much surprise at this time I was requested to change my gamertag again. I mentioned in the last blog that the crap flinging microtards were getting faster at making me change my tag, yet this time it took them nearly two months before asking me to change it again. I tried a few different ways again but it seems even more have been blocked now. The best one I could get from my previous RatBaastard2 is XxRatBaastardxX. I am still amazed that it took them over a year ask me to change it. Personally I don't think RatBastard is a name that should offend anyone. For now I will continue to keep RatBaastard in my tag name until they ban my account for a few days.

Update to last blog

It seems the MS monkeys are getting faster. It only took them a few days this time to ask me to change my gamer tag again. This time I tried several different version of RatBastard, using 4 as an A in all 3 places and not available in all of them. Tried a few other spelling and again not available. However adding a simple 2 at the end of RatBaastard worked marvelously. I foresee a game of cat and mouse coming with MS over this matter. I am curious to see how long it will take before I can’t get something to resemble RatBastard or they let one of my ways of writing it go.

RatBaastard is unacceptable by MS

It is confirmed, Xbox live is controlled by butt fucking, crap flinging monkeys that do nothing but push random buttons. At some point this weekend one of these terd tossers push the button that made RatBaastard be no longer available as gamer tag. I had this tag for over a year and never once heard anyone complain about the name. Mostly, I got people saying that they liked gamer-tag. Now it had been changed to RatBaastardd (extra d). Let see if it takes these fuck-tards another year plus to ask me to change it again.

Xbox 360

I finally got a 360 yesterday and of course halo 3 to go with it and Loving it. I was able to find one with HDMI out.The only issue is that with the HDMI port so close to the component cable both can't be plugged in at the same time. My receiver doesn't have HDMI capabilities as it is 7 years old. It does however have optical, which I am using currently and sounds great. This time i am a week and few days behind everyone else joining the halo universe instead of a few years behind. See you online and happy hunting,

Snow just isn't fun anymore

I used to love the snow but now I hate it. When I was younger snow was great. It meant getting out of school, having snow ball fights with my brother and the other kids on the block, sledding down the hills....lots of fun!!! But now snow is nothing more than a big pain in the ass. I no longer get to stay home and play in the snow because the roads are semi-cleared and I am expected to be at work. My car is buried in 4 foot of snow because of snow drifts and my front door is covered by 3 feet of snow. Need less to say I spent an hour clear my car and my door so I could get to work and lucky for me of my neighbors let me borrow their shovel. My 10 minute drive was turned into a 40 min drive with a bunch of macho assholes who think because they have an SUV that they don't need to drive safely and I hope they all end up in a ditch. Anyway, the point of my rant is that snow used to be fun as a kid but now its just annoying.

Newspail

My stepbrother also known as DolbeX in the gaming community has put together a new gaming news website at Newspail.com. Dolbex was a formerly employed with Major League Gaming developing their webpage as well as hosting halo and other gaming tournaments through out the country. Newpail is updated several times a day and contains news related only to the gaming industry on all platforms. They provide an unique design to way stories are laid out and browsed. Each news story has a direct link to the source page and those with multiple articles about the same topic are listed under a single pail. The site has only been active a few weeks so searching for an item that is not recent won't work yet but all articles since the site has gone live are being archived and will be available. I hope you'll check it out.

Saving online Audio/Video files

Are you tired of seeing a video on youtube or other sites and realize you can't save it to your computer? If you have this problem like I do some times than the solution has been found. Go to vixy.net . Once there all you need it the url of audio/video file and determine what of the 5 formats (AVI, MOV, MPG4, 3gp(mobile), MP3) you want to download it as. The site will convert the file for you then allow you to download it from them for FREE! I have done this a few times and though the conversion quality may not be the best it does a decent job and relatively quickly depending on length of the video.

Wowcrack

With the new World of Warcraft expansion coming out today it made me remember my addition and how glad I am to have moved on. My addition to the warcrack began before the game was even released as I had the opportunity to join both the server stress test and the open beta. After playing the game a few nights on the stress test, I was totally hooked to the warcrack. I became a druggy of WoW and I didn’t even know it at the time. I had had my taste and I wanted more. My dealer (the friend who told me about) was also addicted but not as much I had become. I had to know everything about the game and was going through withdraw from open beta time until WoW officially open. Like an addicted I bought the game as soon as I could where my real addiction began.

I played WoW for about 1.5 years and in that time I had advanced two characters to level 60 with several more to various levels. The game its self was a never ending addition where I had to get more and more just to be satisfied. Now it wasn’t enough to just play the game for at least 4 hours a day 7 days a week but I needed to get new items for my characters. I wanted to have the ultimate character, be the ruler of WoW. After a while my addiction started to fade as there was no way to level up and no reasonably way I could obtain the better gear than I had already have obtained with out finding 39 new friends who were bigger addicts than I. Though their addiction was stronger than mine, those people took the “fun” out of playing a game. The so called “endgame” experience was about going into the same instance a billion times killing the same things over and over and over again until you finally get the one item to drop. Now that it dropped you either had to roll against all the other players that wanted it or have been doing these runs longer than anyone else (they keep track and distribute items based on times gone). Needless to say, the drugs affects were wearing off at this point.

So like a good drug distributor they introduced a new pill to fill the void. PVP had moved to the top of things to do. However this was again a giant time sink as you would have to wait at least 20 minutes just to get in a game. Now that you are in the pvp battle with your fellow crack addicts you still needed to win. If you were lucky you went in with your friends talking over teamspeak and had a chance. But then come the mega addicted who do have 39 other friends that spent the hours to get the mega-awesome-superduper-wtfzomg-gear and they destroyed your team. This actually keeps you from spending months pvping to make it to the top of the pvp ranking only to get some more sweet gear. As an average peon in the land of Azeroth you realize its like real life. I spend too much time working for things that only a few have and I don’t have the desire nor drive to achieve what they have. In the end your addiction is no longer there because the game has become a job instead of a game. You look back going wtf was I thinking, wasting not just hours but days and even months of time of your life playing a game and giving up real life experiences. Don’t get me wrong I still play games and enjoy them on generally a daily basis. But now when my friends call me to go out I don’t have to tell them I can’t because I have scheduled time to go on a raid with my virtual friends to get a chance for new uber gear.
