Youth of today

I got this in email today, it made me chuckle.

To The Spoiled UNDER-30 CROWD!!!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning... uphill BOTH ways

yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter, with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and F#*% it all up! We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had Atari! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens; it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died... And you only had 3 chances before you died!!!

When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed!

Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bast#&%'s!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire... imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to pop it in a pot with oil on the stove or use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot.

That's exactly what I'm talking about!
You kids today have got it too easy.
You're spoiled.
You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

So, I've had my 360 for a month now. It's not seeing much action other than a little DOOM and some demo disc, mainly because there are no real games that interest me. But I was thinking of how bland it looks, just sitting there... So I decided to get some help from LunatikZX to try and help her out in the looks department. Here's what he came up with.

Luna has M4d Skillz with Photoshop. It came out awesome. Thanks bro.

The 180 is going to be so jealous (at least until we get her a matching skin )

I read about Googles free 3D modeling program this morning in the paper. Thought I would share. This is a simple drawing program that let's you design whatever you want, seems pretty simple and free is always nice.

Wow, what a weekend...

Saturday:

So, I decided to take a 3-day weekend to catch up on some things around the house. I find out on Friday night, that me, my truck and trailer have been volunteered to help a friend of ours on Saturday morning. She's building a florida room addition where her patio used to be. So, the patio has been busted up, and about 6,000 pounds of broken up concrete need to be moved about 4 blocks away, and deposited on a hillside that is eroding. Oh my aching back... Knocked her out in 5 trailer loads, and about 4.5 hours, spent the rest of the afternoon drinking beer onthe tailgate of the truck.

Sunday:

So, time for me to work on my projects. One of which is detailing my old truck. She came out pretty good, still have some interior stuff to do, but pretty sexy for a 1993 F-150, with 88K mile on her.

Monday:

Finish up with detailing the outside of the truck, time to move on to the next project, my boat. So, I have decided to sell my boat, due to a lack of use. She's only been in the water twice in the last 18 mos. It was never really the kind of boat I wanted, although I have had tons of fun with her. Here are couple of pic taken prior to getting her cleaned up. Hopefully, I'll get her waxed and carpets all pressure washed and clean by next week. I also have to do some minor trailer repairs, but want her to be in good shape for her next owner. Anyone looking for a good entry level bass boat, that runs 65 MPH, let me know via PM.

So, it's Tuesday, and I'm almost gald to be going back to work.

So....

I rolled into matchmaking last night with some clan members, we had 5 so we went into the new Team Carnage playlist. We get Tower of Power on Ascension, and the other team gets the Big Tower on startup. We managed to take the tower, and I get turrent. I ended up getting my first Overkill medal.

Captain�s Blog; Stardate 08-30-06

In honor of DSmooth…

Yeah, he’s an ass most of the time, boots people from chat all day with his Nazi Ops powers, mods in fight chat (just not as well as Jolly), but I gotta say, he’s always there to fix problems with the site, help someone setup trillion or listen to whatever issue, problem or idea you have.

I message DSmooth with problems or things I don’t like all of the time, today it was time/date display issues with the “Must Read News” section, and the general time display of post (I was set to GMT -3 Hours to display the correct times). Petty little bullshit that bothered me, and within a few minutes, he had them straight. If you ever watch the Help forums or the Site Issues forums, He usually addresses problems and answers the questions within a few minutes of the post being put up.

I’m not blogging this for attention or any other reason than to publicly say “Thanks to DSmooth” for his contribution to making this site the awesome site that it is. If you get a chance, jump in to site chat and thank him yourself.
