This is a northern view of Immigrant Mountain in Oregon. It is 7 or 8 pictures I put together with the new windows photo program. Cool pic huh?

okay then..

Ok, so I have two Xbox's, one elite and one regular...last week when my bud HateSaw was over the pro got RROD, then today my elite got RROD. It fucking sucks!! Damnit!!!

oh, well. Shit happens.

Greetings!

Hello to everyone in the cyberhood this morning! I was just sitting here listening to some random playing of Lyle Lovett songs and thought I would check in and share some random keyboard meanderings.

How the job going? Great and thanks for asking. It is interesting to say the least. We have the regular, paying with silver coins, riding a bicycle 5 miles to get there guys. And the upper crust of society who don't even blink when the cost of the two bottles of wine is 75 plus tax. All in all, I enjoy it. I don't particularly enjoy the behind the scenes re-stocking and cleaning the toilet crap, but I guess it goes with the territory. Oh, and did I mention I get a discount? I really do not drink much, always seems to make me ill. But it was nice to treat myself to a bottle of Yukon Jack and some cranberry and orange juice. Northern lights it is called. My breakfast treat this morning. Tastes like grapefruit juice, but warms the belly.

Snowing here this morning, but not sticking naturally. But it is cool to see especially because it is rare to see it before January. When I was young we used to have some awesome snowfalls. They seem to have tapered off though and I really miss it.

M has been really ill this past week and I have been working so much I haven't had much time for them. But I am going to visit later. Burned some Cd's for M. Some Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash. He is really into that old country/cowboy lifestyle. I think he is a reincarnated cowboy. He watches all those old western series from the 60s and 70s. A real retro kind of guy. Someday I will post some pics of him.

Louie the Beagle has been a bit under the weather. Ear infection. He has always had the problem with is ears off on the last couple of years. He has seizures also when it gets bad. Freaky thing to see, a dog having a seizure. But he will be fine. I went to the vet and got meds for him.

Lotion sales have been down, but I am ever the salesperson with my co-workers. I mostly give it away to let them demo it, got to invest some money to launch an item, right?

Played Fable 2. I really enjoyed it. I only rented it though. I bought the new COD, naturally. I like playing shoot 'em up. So, hope to see some people on line playing sometime, when I find some time to get on. The part time job is picking up in hours. Usually I am off Sunday through Tuesday. But Monday I am working at a different store so my uncle can be off. My uncle is my dad's brother. Not that I really know my dad, he and my mother split when I was young and I never met him till I was 14. I never got past feeling awkward around him. Then later I was told he really isn't my father. Now isn't that even more awkward? Anyway.

More hours equals more money, now there is an equation I can solve. I will leave you with a picture. Another butterfly. Same type, but I took this pic in St. Louis at the zoo. There is an awesome zoo in St. Louie, KC has a good one maybe even better that St Louis. Have a great Sunday everyone. I working on it myself!!

Deer Season

Deer season is here. I took this pic a few weeks back on a protected place that all the deer run to just before season opens. I bet I saw about 20 plus that day. This was one of two I was able to get to stand still and pose for me.

Christmas idea..

Another peaceful place

There's nothing like..

..starting a new job. I started my job yesterday afternoon. I guess I haven't really decided if I intend to stay too long. Being in Arkansas, liquor stores are closed on Sundays so having that day off is a given. However, I will have to work all holidays, including my personal fav Thanksgiving. It is also throwing my plan on taking M to the museum in Bartlesville into temporary limbo. Which given his condition is not a good thing. Plus it only pays 8.50 an hour and frankly it is a lot of work. Not that I am too good for it, but I never realized how many people go to the liquor store (or how many times in one time the same people got to the liquor store). Only 28 hours in my schedule which that is okay and I get off on Monday and Tuesday also. So maybe I will hang out for a while. I saw one of my former employees there...I was glad and she made feel great when she said they still miss me and talk about me everyday. That's why I have this burning sensation in my ears.

A little humor ..

A little wildlife..I chased the butterfly around the my yard one summer day waiting for him/it to open his wings and finally got some great shots. Not a quality shot because it hasn't been digitalized and I only have it on film. But someday. I hope everyone has a great week end and hope to cya in the cyberhood.

Birds Part One

Momma bird on her nest...

Momma and baby bird out for lunch and a stroll...

Good morning fellow gamers. I hope everyone is well on this Thursday, my favorite day of the week. The bird pics above took me about three months to get. I worked at a place that was located close to a creek and woods. It was on about ten acres. The grounds keeper knew I was a wildlife photographer, so every time he saw an interesting critter he would come up to my office and tell me to get me and my camera outside now. Thanks to him I have this pic and the black squirrel plus some others. He was a cool old guy retired from the Coast guard. This Momma bird had her nest in some white gravel (as you can see I guess). Dude saw her and pointed her out to me so everyday I checked on her. Finally her eggs hatched and voilà! She had three babies but when I walked up, (I have a telephoto so I was a ways away from her when I took the pic) she made a peep peep sound and two of them disappeared into the grass. Still I got a good shot that paid off for me. I have lots of pics so I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I enjoy sharing them.

I watched an interesting movie yesterday called "Clay Pigeons". Vince Vaughn, Joaquin Phoenix and others. Good story with a little of humor and some shocking moments. It kept my interest.

Does any one watch that new show, "Life On Mars"? If you are into retro 70s stuff and police drama then this is the show for you. It's a cool show, a little humor, a little drama and a little hint of sci-fi all woven together to tell a story that leaves you going hmmm what's going to happen next?

Time for me to go, the dog-beast is stirring which means when he figures out I am awake he will come and stare at me until I take him for his morning walk. And who can resist beagle eyes for very long?

Cya in the cyberhood everyone.

Picture test 2

Fall on Beaver Lake....I did it I did it!! Thanks to Char!! You rock!!! And thanks to Caesar...great video tips on posting pics!!! You rock too!!

Testing...

Okay, so has anyone ever seen a black squirrel? They are kinda rare around here, but I got this pic. Seconds after taking this pic, the other squirrel attacked the black one. Darn, wish I could of got that shot..

Not much..

..new here. My turntable appears to have crapped out on me. It will not come on. I guess its time to drag out the solder iron and the Ohm/volt meter and see what f is going on with it.

I've spent the last fews days hanging out around the house waiting on the phone call. "The" phone call concerns a job at a local liquor store (within walking distance). I am really bored with sitting around the house and it seems like a job will help fill the time. It has been a little over a year since I had a job (one where someone else pays me). I am self employed, I make and bottle my own brand of lotions.

I will be buying the COD this week. I was fortunate to get to play the beta, so I am excited to play the "real" game. I may try Fable 2 also. Still trying to escape from GH. I borrowed the new one last week and enjoyed it, but I have to say the songs just get kind of old listening to them over and over and over...(on both games) But it is nice to hear some of the old ones and some new ones I haven't heard before.

M is doing okay, not great but I think feeling great is far behind him now. Last Friday the three of us went flea market shopping. I love looking at the "junk" and I sometimes buy and re-sell on that auction site. It was a good time and M found some knives to add to his collection. They bought me lunch and are planning on feeding me Thanksgiving dinner also. I am an orphan(and a hermit) so they think they have to take care of me. I kind of thought I was the one watching out for them.

Could someone please explain the posting pictures here thing for me? In simple terms please cos I have tried and it just doesn't work for me. I know I need to upload them to an on line site, right? And make a link?

I haven't seen any cool stuff on my walks. I did find a ten dollar bill. Who says walking doesn't pay? And I saw a coyote a week or so back. There is a 10-15 acre fenced area(belongs to some people who have horses) on the north side of my property, right where they put a new street through. I had heard it at night and had seen it run across the road toward the golf course one evening. But on this particular morning I saw it laying in the fenced area I mentioned. Just laying in the sun about a hundred feet or s away from us(me and Louie). Kind of strange to see one in the middle of town knowing that it must live here. I live right smack between these two cities which are so connected that the only way you know when you leave one and enter the other is seeing the city limit sign. There is lots of wildlife close. I think it may have to do with the city "lake" that is about a half mile away from me.

Well enough about me..

Importing

Todays vinyl imports include: Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison, Johnny cash and Friends, Blue Oyster Cult: On Your Feet Or On Your Knees (and on and on...)

There are plenty more to do, but it sure takes forever. Some of these albums are like new. I even picked up a copy of Neil Diamnond's The Jazz Singer still completely untouched with the original shrink wrap on it. Paid 2 bucks at a flea market. I have a couple hundred vinyls left to import to my pc. (heavy sigh) It will be great to finish. Next I will start on my cassette tape collection. The company I got the turntable from also makes a dual cassette that is also has USB connections to allow importing of tapes. WOOHOOO. I know that most of these titles are available on CD but why buy again when I have this option? Plus it makes for a nice walk down memory lane..i.e. blasting my stereo really loud and annoying my grandpa. Ah those were the days.

Got to go...I hear Johnny winding down. Have a nice day everyone.

It's a beautifull thing...

...When our country has come to the point that a person of color is elected President!

...to be so lucky to have this nice place to come and write my troubles away. (not really away, but they do become invisible temporarily)

Thanks to all who read my silly writings. I hope I leave you with a smile.

So, I found the cup. A wonderful cup that is silver in color but is made from aluminum. It collapses and has a lid with a pattern of sailboats imprinted on it. I feel a great relief that it was not misplaced or lost as I had thought. It holds memories of my Grandpa.I remember when he got the cup. I spent almost every weekend with him and my Grandma, or Granny as I called her. Granny and Grandpa had recently made a purchase from Fingerhut. Fingerhut is a mail order company that you purchase various products from. You can acquire things such as dishes, sheets, bathroom shelving, and a variety of other household items all for “one low monthly payment”. This wonderful silver cup was a “free” gift to thank my grandparents for their recent purchase. My Grandpa showed me how it stretched to become a tall cup for drinking out of, and then how it fit back together to be small and compact. I asked my Grandpa if I could have it but he said, “No, that’s my traveling cup.” And he took it out to the car and placed it in the glove box.

I remember Grandpa and me in the living room of a house I called home. There I am sitting on the floor crossed-legged with a map of Arkansas in front of me. A pencil is in my hand. The pencil is a red one, the kind teachers use to grade papers with. On this particular day I was getting on his nerves. I was always asking questions and sometimes I would drive my Grandpa crazy with them. He decided that day to teach me how to read a map. He explained directions to me and saying that if I ever got lost or confused that I should face the setting sun. This is how I would know I was facing west. Then he said I should know that north would be on my right, south on my left, and east would be behind me. After the lecture on directions he sat me down and told me to find my way from Little Rock, AR to Joplin, MO. This kept me too busy to talk and it allowed him to finish reading the newspaper.

We were always going places on the weekends. When I was about ten years old, they took me to a place which was to become one of my favorite places. We went to Woolaroc, which is south of Bartlesville, OK. Woolaroc means woods, lakes, and rocks. It is a wonderful museum and wildlife refuge with 3600 acres of green grass and wild animals roaming about. The entrance is a couple of miles away from the museum. Upon arrival at the gate we paid the price of admission (2 dollars a carload) and then drove through the wildlife refuge to get to the museum. There were buffalo, elk and deer roaming around. I also saw ostriches, emus, and peacocks all in fenced pens to keep them safe from predators.

This was the first museum I had ever been to and this is where I learned the real story of cowboys and Indians. On the outside was a beautiful entranceway that curved inward in a half circle. There was a mosaic of an American Indian in full headdress and costume. The background was made up of turquoise blue tiles and every other color of the rainbow making up the rest. It was the first mosaic I had ever seen. The museum was full of paintings, sculptures, Indian blankets, covered wagons, and many other American West artifacts. We spent hours going through room after room. On every wall I saw incredible paintings and sculptures depicting American Indians and the day-to-day lives of cowboys in the western frontier by famous artists Charles Russell and Frederic Remington. In one room there were saddles and tack from famous cowboys like Roy Rogers and Tom Mix. My Grandpa’s favorite cowboy was Tom Mix. I had not known this until that day. We saw a Japanese room complete with Samurai swords and a room with a huge dinosaur egg in it. One of my favorite rooms had a complete collection of Colt pistols. There was even an airplane hanging from the ceiling. It was painted a dark orange and had the words Woolaroc painted on one side and Phillips 66 on the other side.

Later that day the three of us had a picnic. It was a wonderful picnic area with tables, huge oak trees, and a view of the lake. There were statues of Indians on their horses, and also a statue of a cowboy sitting on a horse with a rain slicker on and his hat bent as if to keep rain from his eyes. The statues appeared to be made of tarnished bronze but I half expected them to take off at gallop. I also saw a pond with orange, white, and black goldfish in it. That was the first time I had ever seen goldfish so big and I had never seen any outdoors. There were huge rocks sitting around. One of them was shaped like the head of an Indian. I remember being so excited that I could’t sit still long enough to eat.

We completed our day by taking a tour of the home of Frank Phillips who was the founder of Phillips Petroleum. He is the one who built the museum and the wildlife refuge. It was originally a private ranch that he had retired to. His home was on the grounds of this magnificent estate. It was a large log home with an open floor plan and a fireplace on the southwest side of the room. There were bearskin rugs on the floor and a collection of animal heads mounted on the wall. I could imagine Mr. Phillips there with his hunting buddies talking about the one that got away.

It was a great day, one I have never forgotten. I continue to return there just to see what I missed the last time. My Grandpa taught me lots of things, but teaching me to read maps, to get me “where I want to go” was the greatest gift of all. Since I knew how to read a map I was able to get to Woolaroc all by myself. Grandpa gave me the knowledge to do it alone. He also left me the cup. Now it’s my traveling cup.

I always look forward to this time of year. The days are cooler, I can sleep with the windows open (upstairs at least). This year though is harder. M is winding down also. Having lived a month longer than predicted, the bad days are getting closer to the good and I expect soon the bad days will completely cover up all the good ones and smother them so there are no more good days. Between taking the pain meds and staying drunk (yes, he still drinks all day every day in spite of what has happened to his liver) he is losing his mind to dementia. I do all I can to keep him supplied with other meds that help him be able to eat more and take his mind off the pain that is not controlled no matter how many pills he takes. What an awful end to a short life. He is 48.

Anyway. It is a great day here in NW Arkansas. Sunny and warm. Maybe I need to walk the dog again to get my mind on something else. It seemed like this might help, coming here to write.

I have a road trip planned for us later this month. We are going to travel to a museum I know of in Oklahoma that is full of Cowboy and Native American stuff. M is so looking forward to this. He wanted to be an Archaeologist but became an alcoholic instead. (I don't mean that as harsh as it might seem.) Life is full of choices, and I believe we are entitled to make the choice to do whatever ever we want, without judgment. We may not always approve of others choices but it is important to respect them. As long as it does not harm others then what does it matter?

As you can see, I am totally preoccupied with M. And his wife. She is 14 years older than him and I worry for her too.

I should finish here now. I will hopefully have something more entertaining to write later .(manhole covers?) No...
