No Gears 2 for me yet :(

My sisters best friend works for MS and she has ordered me a copy through the company store..$35 delivered to my front door..I just have to wait a couple days...its worth it to save $30 right?  sure it is...It really is worth it...Its really worth it...Its really worth it...nope...not buying it yet...

I guess Ill have to keep repeating it till I believe it...

Life in a Battleground State

I've been home from work for less than 5 hours and I've had 3 people from Obama's campaign knock on my door.  Thankfully, no calls....yet....today.....

This sort of thing has been going on for quite awhile now.

My friends mom lives in Utah and is getting the same treatment from McCains folks.  She's is getting really pissed because she donated to McCain and now feels they have spent more money than she donated papering the front door of a vote thats already in the bag.

Nevada and Utah are measly 5 vote states.  God help you guys living in important 20+ vote states.

Pulled the trigger.

I put my order in to move my 401k back into the market after about 5 months in bonds.  I think this is close enough to the bottom.  Time will tell I guess.

Midwesterners...

So I spent the week tooling around the mid west and had the pleasure of not one but three lectures on how the airlines were ruining the country by luring our young females out of the maternity ward and giving them flight attendant jobs (I assume one man was mostly upset because they were white and thereby contributing to "our" losing our hold on the ethnic majority).  Of course when I stared at them dumbfoundedly, this was not taken as my inabiliby to believe what I was hearing, but my wholehearted aggreement with their ideas.  What makes these people think I want to have this conversation to begin with, let alone while Im in uniform and essentially in my workplace?  You midwesteners may want to think twice the next time you take pot shots at how "weird" they are in places like California..  On the plus side, nobody told me that the world was ending (this time).  I prefer my religious nuts big city style...standing on a milk crate talking to everyone and no one, not dressed in business suits pretending to be normal folks.

Cell Phone Rant

I want a fully customizable cell phone!

I want the things I use to work exactly as I prefer them to work not as the company thinks I should want them.

I want to be able to delete every application on a phone that I dont want.

Although my phone apparently has a gps in it but I cant use it in any way.

Amazingly, most of my cell phone usage revolves around actually talking to someone. (Mostly the same 5-10 people)

I use my alarm clock several times a week.

I send a few texts a month.

I take maybe 5 pictures a year. (I could definitely do without a camera phone)

I would use wifi capability for a very few web services.  I dont need a laptop in my pocket...but I will give this up easily if it slows the boot up time too much.

Thats about it.

I never need to look at how long my last call was for 10 fucking seconds before being able to dial another number.

I will not ever buy a cellphone game/ringtone/wallpaper ever.

I will not pay extra for any type of web service or data plan.  I make the phone company disable this feature so my kids cant accidentaly run my bill up.

I will never subscribe to a joke of the day text service.

This new frequency band that got auctioned off supposedly came with the restriction that the winning company has to allow access to any phone.

Hopefully that will usher in an era of much more choice about what features a phone has and doesnt have.

I cant wait.

Every time I go in for a new phone, the sales guy is trying to show me all the cool ringtones and whatnot and Im grilling him on how the alarm works or how the call history is displayed.

I cant be the only one.
