The "NEW" NHL?

So my question is this: Will the referees in the new NHL allow the teams to actually play, or will the playoff games be subject to the ticky-tack bullshit calls that have plagued the NHL this year? I am an old-school hockey fan. I truly love the old saying that I went to a fight, and a hockey game broke out. I understand that the big-wigs up stairs wanted to appeal to a broader audience, but they really screwed the pooch in my opinion. You want to attract new viewers, but you cant get a contract done, and we lose hockey for 1 year. HMMMMmmm. Lost some there. Then you re-negotiate your TV contract and put a vast majority of your games on some fledgling cable channel that NOONE has. Hmmmmmm lost some there. Then you re-schedule your all-star game to some wonky day and time, and put it on that same channel that NOONE has. Hmmmmm lost some more there.

Spread within all that negativity, I do like some of the changes that were made. I like the touch up offsides, I like the new icing procedures, dont care too much for the goalie trapezoid, but dont hate it either, and I love the elimination of the 2 line pass. The interference and hooking calls need to be a little less stringent. If my stick just happens to knick your elbow, and you stutter just a step, HOOKING 2 minutes. Saw way toooo many games this year be decided by some bullshit penalty resulting in a powerplay goal.

Not a huge fan of the shootout either. But it appears as if that is going to be staying.

Hockey Fans Unite!!

As anyone familiar with the NHL can tell, I am a Red Wings Fan!! (yes, a Red Wings Fan, and a hockey fan in Florida). Looking for others to cheer on their favorite team, and tell me who you think will win Lord Stanleys Cup. THE HARDEST WON TROPHY IN PROFESSIONAL SPORTS.

I personally feel that Detroit has a great chance to go to the finals. IF Nashville can be taken down early, or Detroit can eventually get thru them, a Cup Run looks good. No real powerhouses in the Eastern IMO. Carolina is a whimper, the Devils are always trouble. Islanders will choke like they have done the last few years. I definately think that the Cup will reside in the West when all is said and done.

xbox tech support sux

Didnt want to take up too much space in a forum for this, so here is a perfect spot. XBOX TECH SUPPORT SUCKS DONKEY DICK!!!!! Here is the setup. Houses in Florida are not made for networking. Solid concrete walls and no basements make for a hard time at running cables. So you have to go wireless if you want any kind of freedom. So I went out (2 years ago mind you) and got the setup. Came home, followed the instructions, and it didnt work. Damn! Called the router people, they set things up. Called Xbox Tech Support, and after 3 people, finally got everything working. I used that setup on my original Xbox for over 1 year with no issues. Then the 360 came along. After an initial hurdle with connecting my devices to it, it was smooth sailing for almost 10 months. Many here on the website can attest to that. I never had any issues with large rooms, or heavy lag. Then all of a sudden, one day, about 2 months ago, my wireless connection stopped working. Played Gears of War online one night, came home from work the next day.......... NO CONNECTON!! Nothing changed, nothing hit the port. Hell, the dust bunnies were still in the same spot. WTF!!??!!  Only way I could get online was if I connected my xbox directly to my modem. That required dismantling my entire network, and carrying the shit all the way across the house to the other room. Not to mention the complaints I got from my better half that she couldnt get online since the connection was no longer "shared". So I battled it out for 2 months till I could get some cash to get a new port. I figured it had to have just broke. What other reason could there be? So I get some cash, I run out and get the same gaming port that I had before. The cheat in me figured I could box up the broken one and return it for a refund!! ( Dont give me that look, you'd do it too!) I get home and hook it up expecting gaming bliss, and It doesnt work either. GRRRRRR. So I call xbox. They tell me to call the Router and Port manufacturer. The port manufacturer tells me that the xbox wont assign the correct IP address. Im no programmer. I'm an environmental consultant. Talk trees and plants, Im good. Computers... I'm lost. The Port guy tells me to call xbox. AFTER 4 HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH XBOX, THE GUY HAS THE NERVE TO TELL ME THAT THE SAME PORT I USED FOR 2.5 YEARS WAS ONLY A BRIDGE, SHOULD HAVE NEVER WORKED, AND THE ONLY WAY I COULD CONNECT WAS TO USE THE "360 WIRELESS ADAPTER"! WTF? Why the hell did this one work before then. He wouldnt answer me. So in a last ditch effort at 1am, I called the Port Maufacturer back. Lo and behold, I get a gentleman with a very heavy Indian accent that was able to fix the problem in 30 mins. In 4 hours on the phone with Xbox, all I got to hear was some really great "on hold" music. ANd their response was "Go out and buy OUR shit! We guarantee it will work!!'" Every time I have called Xbox support, it sounds like some really big party going on in the background. It almost seems like they just get a bunch of college kids who are home on break to answer the phone, and tel you to buy more Microsoft shit. I love my 360, but the support for this unit is severly lacking. So after 5 hours of excrutiating pain, my network is functioning without Xbox's Gaming adapter. The same old stuff I was using before is working fine. The old one will be returned tomorrow for a full refund. And I will be back to dishing out headshots with the Clannies!!! Watch out Boys!!

at it again

In an attempt to drum up some interest, in what I feel is an amazing game, I will add another entry to this blog. I also fully intend on submitting my review for the site. The game that I will discuss here is called Guild Wars: Nightfall. First let me say that I am the Guild Leader for the official Guild Wars site Clan. We are know as the Guild Wars Gurus. This is my second attempt at running a GW clan, and I must say that it has become a wonderful home to myself, and many members. It is always discussed in our clan how Guild Wars is never given any credit, especially since we seem to be stuck in the shadow of World of Warcraft. There always seems to be alot of fanboy type zeal between the players of each respective game. I have come to decide that you either love one or the other, and dont care for the other. I will say that I personally feel that WoW is given more attention, and even a preferential treatment here on the site. We have a rather large Guild Wars clan, and we dont have anything near to what the WoW players have. Christ, give us our own Guild Page. (I know, clan pages are coming!!) The recent front page article regarding Guild Wars is a perfect example of the type of discussion that seems to permeate every time sometime tries to compare the two. Hell, here is an article giving Guild Wars its due respect for hitting 3 million gamers, and someone has to bring up WoW. WE KNOW ITS NOT WoW!! Yes, we know WoW players like to craft weapons, and have a cooking skill. We understand that. We are not trying to change your mind. We are simply trying to get people to understand that there is a game out there that offers you a solid gaming experience, in a MMO type game, that doesnt require a monthly fee!!! Hell, I know gamers that will rush out and buy a console title on release day. Play it straight for 2 weeks, and then trade it in on another release title, only to repeat the process. If you spent the necessary 50 clams to buy Guild Wars, and played it for 2 months, you'd have gotten more than your moneys worth. Especially considering the new releases that Anet has issued. The Factions expansion introduced a bunch of new gameplay upgrades, and the Nightfall expansion has increased the content even more. They havent added some of the features that the WoW players like to brag about. But this is not WoW. Again, I'm only trying to inform people that may be looking for a different gaming experience. If your cruising thru your local game store, and happen to see Guild Wars on the shelf, maybe pick it up. Its an excellent game. An added bonus, there is a great 2old Guild Wars clan that is always looking for new people to have a great time with. Think about it!!!

EB Games sux

OK, let me first apologize to any unfortunate souls that earn their living working for EB Games. This is not directed towards individual persons. Just the company as a whole. Let me explain. I have had nothing but bad luck with EB. First the entire debacle with the 360s. Then I pre-ordered Oblivion. My good friends in Detroit were able to order, and pick-up the game a full day before the "release". Now me here in Flori-duh, not able too. Not only was I not able to get it the day early, I wasnt ale to get it on the release day.I FUCKING PRE-ORDERED IT!!  Now to the Coup de Tat. I pre- ordered a collectors edition of the new Guild Wars Factions. For anyone who is not familiar with Guild Wars, it is an MMORPG. The developers allowed anyone who pre-ordered the game to access the content 24 hours early. In this 24 hour period, you were able to participate in special events, and have access to items that were only avail to pre-order players. I have since found out, that when you pre-ordered the game, you were supposed to receive a disk that would allow you to access the content. EB Games was listed on the Guild Wars website as an official retailer. Lo and Behold, noone at 4 EB Games locations knew what the hell I was talking about. I showed up on the 27th to get the game for the early access, (not knowing you needed this disk, I thought you could pick-up the game early) and was told I could pick my PRE-ORDER up tomorrow. Noone knew anything about the preview event, or even the necessary disk. After repeated calls to EB Games stores, and even a few strategically placed calls to their corporate number, I was able to get an access key to participate in the event. I was able to get the key at 930pm, and the event went until 1200 am. A WHOPPING 2 1/2 HOURS. WOO WEE!!!!! And the story get meatier from here. I wait till the next day to go in and pick up my PRE-ORDERED game (The all caps on PRE-ORDER will now be explained). The gentleman behind the counter informs me that my PRE-ORDERED Limited edition version of the game is not in. This was after he tried to pass off the regular edition as a limited. I being the savvy consumer noted this mistake. Here is where the venom comes from. What is the point of taking a customers money in advance for a product, when your inventory system does not select and ship the appropriate pre-ordered items to the specified location? How is this my (the customer) problem? If I order something, pay for it, I should get it when its promised. This is simply not good business. My customers would string me up if I pulled that shiot. I dont think Im being totally unreasonable. Everyone makes a mistake. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. My only recourse is to not gived EB my business. There are plenty of other retailers in my area that I can procure my items from. I started to use EB simply because of the variety of inventory they offered. Instead of 3 stores, I get what I needed at one. Not anymore. I will not continue to be inconvienced simple because EB does not take the time to filter information down to its retail locations. Other retailers dont have this issue. And why the difference from state to state as to when someone gets their product. I can actually send my buddy in Detroit money, and he can purchase and ship me a game before I could go into my local store in Flori-DUh and buy it. Something is really fucking wrong there. So in closing......

FUCK EB GAMES!!!!!
