Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06

Picked this up for the PC the other day, best 20 bucks Ive spent in a long time.  I had the 360 version, which was pretty, but stripped down.  The PC version has the gameplay all over the 360.  Hope the 360 version of 07 is as good as the PC version of 06, because Id rather play golf on my 52" HDTV than on my 17" LCD monitor.

Back to the Grind

Well, I enjoyed my Monday off.  My wife suggested that we catch a matinee and drop my 10 1/2 month old son off at my mother-in-laws for the afternoon.  A movie and no child responsibilities for a few hours?  Im sold.  We check the showtimes and find that Pirates of the Carribbean:  Dead Mans Chest is playing at the "fancy" theater in Voorhees.  No kids allowed without parents, they sell coffee and pastries in the lobby instead of candy and the seats are cushy and not right on top of each other.  Nice experience compared to being crammed into a tiny theater with 300 kids watching Superman Returns on opening weekend.  Im a HUGE movie buff and was looking forward to PotC: DMC.  It didnt dissappoint, but without spoiling anything, did end rather abruptly.  I realize that theyre currently working on part 3 and that its supposed to be out next summer, but they did leave it hanging.  It would be like lopping Lukes arm off in Jedi and just fading to credits as he fell to the waiting Millenium Falcon.  Anyway, the effects were great, the story was pretty decent, and Johnny Depp plays a freak like nobodys business.

Back to work in the morning.  Not really looking forward to that, Ill probably have my desk covered in crap since I dared to miss a Monday.  heheh.

Played a little Call of Duty 2 on my 360 tonight.  Still working on the single player mission, Im about halfway through the Great Britian portion of the game, probably pretty close to the end, if the pacing keeps up.  Nice game, a little uneven at times, but overall I like it.  Definately a different pace from playing F.E.A.R or Half Life 2, but a welcome change.

Looking forward to getting to play with some "elderly" folks on Live, just getting my feet wet on the console online gaming thing.

Reminds me of the fist online game I ever played.  Dark Forces 2:  Jedi Knight for the PC.  Loved the saber battles on there, one on one, just swing till someone drops.  Also ran into my first "cheater" on there as well.  A guy had re-skinned his character as a couch.  I was running through a hallway, chasing someone down when the couch swung a lightsaber and cut him down.  I laughed so hard I thought Id fall out of my chair.  Sadly it was more than just a skin hack, the guy had some god mode cheat active and kinda ruined the fun.  Was kinda cool watching a couch kick butt though.

Well enough of my rambling.

Gotta Love Getting Monday Off

Usually Im in bed by midnight on Sunday nights, normally have to be in the office by 6 AM on Mondays.   But since I had to work Saturday, I get Monday off.  My boss apparently wasnt listening when I told him I was taking off Monday, because he simply agreed and asked me to close his office door on my way out.  Gotta love asking questions when the head honcho is distracted.

The fact that today was my first day away from the plant in 10 straight days (4th of July included, those bastards) apparently did nothing to dissuade the weekend supervisor from calling me at 7 AM and asking me to solve  a problem with a plant scale/PLC issue.  Its like someone shaking you from a deep sleep and saying "Quick, solve this differential equation while I beat on your head with a rabid squirrell."  After dealing with yet another crisis at the plant via the telephone, I got back in bed and tried to catch some more sleep, but Im afflicted with a brain that doesnt like to "shut down" once its been kicked into action.

I got up, helped my wife get my son ready for church, we actually left on time and got there before the service started.  Maybe my job should intrude on my weekends more often?  Its like the worlds most irritating alarm clock!

Enough bitching.  Im kind of in a gaming lull right now.  Believe it or not, I just put Halo 2 in my 360 for the first time.  I got my rig back in January, and I havent played Halo since last year on my old Xbox.  Im insanely rusty.  I could use a refresher course on Live if anyone would like to offer any suggestions, Id be totally up for them.

Im patiently awaiting NCAA 2007 and looking forward to playing a decent Next-Gen football game.  Madden 2006 was a travesty on the 360.  I think I had it 2 weeks before I traded it in.

Ive been playing Guitar Hero lately, trying to get through on the highest difficulty.  That game ROCKS.  If you havent played it yet, go out and buy it now.  The sequels supposed to be coming out in the fall, and I cant wait for it.  Saw a review of a wireless guitar peripheral on IGN today..

http://gear.ign.com/articles/717/717394p1.html

Check it out if youve got 50 bucks to drop on it.  Ill stick with the one that came with it, until the sequel comes out, its supposed to have dual guitar multiplayer, two tracks at once from what Ive heard.  Should be fun.

Ok, enough of my ranting.  Im off to play.

Its Now Official

I officially now have too many games.  I was cleaning out my desk, found a box for the Sims 2, empty mind you, no DVD case, no software.  I distinctly remember playing the Sims 2, but for the life of me I cannot find the actual program.  I cant remember if I sold it, traded it in for something else, or just lost the sucker.  Oh well, itll turn up eventually.  I didnt even really want to play it, but now Im beating my head in trying to figure out what I did with it.

This is why I asked my wife to handle the bill paying when we got married.

Wow.  How sad am I?

On a brighter note, its Friday night and my boss is only screwing me for 1/2 of the weekend by making me work Saturday.  Lucky me!  Ahh, enough of my whining.

Another Day in Paradise

Well, yet another day is over.  Im one step closer to worm food.  Bring it on, annelid scum!

Fun day at the office today.  Im a R&D Manager for the worlds largest industrial chocolate manufacturing company.  Im Willy Wonka without the dwarven help.  I do have lickable wallpaper, but it tastes remarkably like wallpaper.  Except one spot near my whiteboard, which seems to taste a bit like cheese.  My job normally consists of helping customers use our products in their products (cocoa powder, cocoa butter, chocolate liquor, chocolate, compound, ice cream coatings, inclusions, chocolate chips, chunks, etc.) which they then mark up dramatically and sell to their resepective customers.  Capitalism at its best.

Our Maintenance Manager took a header off of a 30 foot I-beam and broke his arm in 4 places back in February.  Since then Ive been doing his job as well as mine.  This consists of managing 20 mechanics, ordering spare parts and replacement parts for equipment in the plant and dealing with vendors and salespeople.  I HATE this part of the job.  I hate it with a purple passion and the blazing heat of 1,247 suns.  This shmuck isnt going to be back to work until sometime after October.  I pray daily that I fall and break my leg and get 9 months of paid vacation.  At least then Id be able to catch up on some of these games.

Currently Im in various stages of completion on the following:

  1. Oblivion - 60+ hours in, and I think Im only halfway through it
  2. Rise of Legends - on the third campaign
  3. Stubbs the Zombie - PC version
  4. NBA 2k6 - 10 season of a franchise I believe
  5. Half Life 2:  Episode One
  6. Black and White 2
  7. Playing through Freedom Force vs the 3rd Reich again too.

Please, break my leg.  Ill sit on my tail and game till I ruin my cerebral cortex and my wife finds me drooling on my cast.

Well, enough for today.

Sheesh
