MLG Dallas (otherwise known as OMGWTFBBQ)

The past weekend was MLG Dallas for those not in the know. Our clan team Profanity decided to pack up thier balls and head down to the Big D and see just how they stacked up against the best teenagers MLG had to offer. Drost and Malice showed up at my place around 10:30 or so Wednesday evening. Xssmoke and Eks were staying at Soupnazzis place in town as well. The team consisted of Drost, Malice, Soupnazi and Eksessiv. Smoke and I were simply along for the ride and to interject our sagely advice as needed.

Here area few pics:

BTW Face, what the hell were you warming up for?

Turn around bitch.

Dont ask about the results of that match.

So a quick re-cap from an observer of MLG.
  • If you think you know how to play Halo and you are reading this, YOU ARE WRONG. There were tactics and playstyles utalized in the tournament that are foreign to the vast majority of 2o2p, ourselves included. If you have a good team and want to try out MLG, go ahead. Just heed this advice, practice FFA like there is no tomorrow. It matters.
  • Never get fixated on a kill in FFA. Plug a few shots and be ready to move on when that rabbit jumps down a hole. If you pursue a kill, its only you who ends up dead.
  • Sign up a coach with your team. You get an extra pair of eyes if you want and they can be a help pointing out global issues in-game that you might miss on you half-screen
  • Teamwork and communication are paramount to being able to do anything in the tournament.
  • Headphones. Get em. Also get an audio splitter so that your split-screen partner can use headphones as well. Turning up the TV all the way works for some people, but headphones are the sure-fire way to go.
  • Did I mention teamwork?
  • Dont underestimate the goofy looking kid with his pants around his knees. When he is done with you, YOU may very well be the one with YOUR pants pulled down...

I hate titles.

The Car (and other assorted stuff)

So the car went into the shop to repair the damage caused by the dumbass who shot up on stupidity.  Long story short, the dumbass let her insurance lapse the monday before she hit me.  Read: insurance gone on Monday, She hits me on Thursday.  So we are filing it under uninsured motorist and the ins. company can get the money from her.  I have a Ford Taurus rental right now.  Its not that bad.  I could get used to something comparable, like a 4-door camry or such.

Halo

Friday night sucked.  Just crappy games with quiters and whiney bitches.  And then the people in Matchmaking were bad too.

Saturday night I logged on to find Drost and a small contingent of peeps online.  It was made clear in that party that everyone was just goofing off that night.  Stories of trying to play hop-scotch during a game were relayed.  So I figured Id kick back and relax.  (Thats code for "break out some alcohol").  Fast forward about 3 hours and a bottle of wine later: Im drunk.

It was probably the most laid back and entertaining night of Halo Ive had in a long time.  Need to do that more often (the Halo, wine, both...)

Throw a rock...

...and you will hit a stupid driver (in Dallas).

So Im on my way to work after dropping the wife off this morning.  Im at a stop light about a mile from my office when in my rear-view mirror I see fast moving headlights -> lowered headlights -> headlights dissappear -> big crunch sound.

Yeah, she hit me.  Then pushed me into the guy in front of me.

Nobody was hurt but my car now needs a new rear bumper and front grill.  I was suprised how little damage there actually was on my car.  I usually drive a Honda Civic but today I was in our other car, a Toyota Solara.  I think that was a good thing because that truck would of messed up that little honda.  THe Toyota actually has some decent bumpers and they took all the impact.

Now I just have to deal with insurance companies.  I hate that.
