TGIF
Wow, what a crappy week at work. I was told on Monday that I was going to have to move into another cube down the aisle from me to make room for an Admin. Nothing against Admins but my goodness, WTF. I get rewarded for 5 years of hard work by getting doubled up in a cube barely big enough for one. I want bore you will all the details but work sucks right now. I really love what I do though so I will stick it out at least a little longer even if the company I work for is FUBAR.Its finally the weekend! Yeah!
My youngest girls has been taking three or four steps at a time for about a month now but all of a sudden over the last couple of days, she just trots off and walks across the room. She can stand in one place indefinitely. They grow up quick.
Lastly, I was messing around and came up with a new blog banner. I will probably change it in a couple of weeks the way I am.
Have a great weekend!

Fly me to the moon
Ok, today I took my family to Red Bull's Flugtag event. I was so pissed off when I found out they were having the event here in Nashville, not because I didn't like the event but because it was too late to enter the event. I have been wanting to do this event ever since I saw it on a High Def channel a couple of years ago. The weather was very hot, there were thousands and I mean thousands of people there and I had a difficult time parking anywhere close. That being said, it was a lot of fun and really makes me want to enter the event. I guess I will probably have to travel because they tend to do it in new cities each year. The North American Record was set right before my eyes. The guy flew 155 feet. How cool was that? Also, a group of skydivers came sweeping out of the sky and landed on the launch platform. It was pretty amazing to see them doing a corkscrew maneuver that looked like they were flying out of control and at the last minute, stopping and hitting the target with a seemingly effortless motion. They also have a SoapBox event that I will be watching to see if one comes anywhere close to here.Posted by Spidey @ 7:42 pm EDT | Permalink | 9 Comments

If I had a Million dollars?
What would you do with a million dollars?I would like to think I would help a lot of people out but that isn't that much money anymore. If the million is pre tax, you can bet Uncle Sam will take about $400,000 which only leaves you with $600,000. For most people that kind of money is life changing but you would most likely still have to work and you would have to be careful with the way you managed it. Having said that, I would love to win or make a Million dollars! So what would I do?
1. Pay off the house but probably wouldn't move.
2. Buy a new family car but keep on of our current cars for me. I don't care to be flashy.
3. Probably would start my own business. I would still have to work hard, I just would have a little capital to work with.
4. Put money away for the kids college funds.
5. I would like to say help out my friends but I think at this point, the money is pretty much gone so sorry! If I won 5 Million, now that's a different story.
We recently got a lottery in our state and I have been seeing commercials for it. One shows an average looking guy knocking on the door of an old couple. He tells them he appreciated them letting him borrow their truck when he was young and he is bringing them a long overdue replacement. Another one shows a guy talking to his brother on a boat dock and his brother is admiring one of the boats. He says to his brother, you helped me out over the years and you deserve that boat so that is why it is yours. I am pretty sure the point they are trying to make is that if you win the lottery, you will be able to do nice things for your friends. The way I see it, do nice things for your friends now and if they win the lottery, they will buy you something cool.
So, back to the question, what would you do with a million dollars?

Monsters in the dark
Sorry I blog about my kids but they are pretty much my life right now.Why in the heck do all kids cartoons feel the need to try and make kids not afraid of the dark and Monsters that might be lurking around? The way I see, they are actually creating the fear by telling them not to be afraid. My oldest daughter was never told about monsters and certainly wasn't afraid of them until she started watching cartoons. They all seem to have an episode that addresses Monsters in the dark. Why?! She was fine before they told her not to be afraid and now she keeps asking if a monster is going to get her and eat her. I have to remind her that if a monster was going to eat anyone in the house, it would be me because I have a lot more meat on my bones than she does. She would just be a snack and most monsters are too hungry for just a snack.
A similar thing to the whole monsters issue is Restaurants. I am constantly asked, do you take your kids to Chuck E. Cheese or McDonald's in which I respond, Hell no. They don't know what they are missing and I am not about to expose them to that. They are perfectly content eating at the places I like to eat so why screw that up. I am already screwed when I take Katie out to Target with me. As soon as we get in the parking lot she says, "Daddy, I am thirsty and not for water". Translation, "I want an Icee!" When my sister takes her kids out and they get anywhere close to Chuck E. Cheese her kids start screaming, "We want to go to Chucky Cheese!". I can drive Katie into the parking lot of Chucky Cheese and she won't say a word because she doesn't know what the heck it is. I am going to keep it that way for as long as I can so if you are planning a Birthday Party for you rug-rat at Chuck E. Cheese, don't invite us!

My kids have no chance.
Do you ever wonder what you are teaching your kids just from them watching you? My kids don't have a chance on being normal. My wife and I are complete smart alecs and it is starting to show up in our oldest daughter Katie. She is almost 4 and its hilarious the things she says. The other day we had some friends over and their baby was in one of our bedrooms sleeping. The mother was getting up and said "I better check on the baby" when Katie jumped to her feet, ran up to her and said, "Maybe the Dingo ate your baby?" We all busted out laughing.Katie also has many imaginary friends. More than is normal probably but my Wife and I don't care, in fact we encourage her to a degree. Her two main ones are Anne and Bobby. The crazy thing is, Anne also has an imaginary pet monster. Her imaginary friends have imaginary friends. They are now just part of the family and we include them in our conversations all the time. Its hilarious to be at the grocery store and Katie says, "Hold on, we have to wait on Anne" and we look at a blank space behind the cart and say "Hurry up Anny, we don't have all day!" People look at us like we are nuts. Maybe we are but I wouldn't have it any other way!
