The Long Wait

Ever since I came home from work on Monday, October 1st I've hoping, dreaming, wishing upon a star that time would somehow disintegrate until that most glorious of days: 11/6/2007.

I tried the Halo thing. It's just not my cup. I mean, the jumping around, the ridiculous number of shots it takes to down an enemy and the timmies... oh dear Heavenly Father, the friggin timmies! I had heard about the timmy factor long before I decided to give H3 a go. I figured it couldn't be any worse than what I had experienced with Vegas or the COD4 Beta. Jeez was I wrong. These kids all hopped up on Mountain Dew and PopRocks telling me how they pwn me and mother seven ways from Sunday... crap a duck. But I jumped off that ship quickly. Some will say I didn't give it enough time. I had never played Halo before... ever. I gave it a week of playing it almost exclusively. Normally if I'm really into a game, it won't leave my tray for a while. With Halo 3 I found myself waiting to see if Lux, Lee, Mocha, ninja_dawg, CAPS or anyone else from my clan (shout out to PAR and 2Old4BS, what! what!) would be jumping on to throw in Rainbow or COD2 (hell even Aegis Wing would have done) to save me.

I think I saw enough to know that it wasn't a game I was going to stick with. Normally I'll buy a game I'm not even all that interested in if my clan will be playing it. Half my clan was playing Halo 3, the rest of us were digging in the crates for anything else. Is COD4 the end all-be all? Not sure, but in the words of one journalist "you'd be a fool not to own this game."

But I digress... Halo has its audience and that's cool. COD4 has its audience as well. I guess in the end it's the differences that make this world go 'round. If I want to watch porn and look at nipples then so be it. And if you don't share my views on porn and the like, then piss off and go fishing (another shout out to my brothers)!

Tales of a Virgin Blogger

So I'm educated. I've got my handy little marketing degree from Ball State University (which helps in no way on a daily basis in the insurance industry) right here in my back pocket. I've been gaming since I was 7 when Santa was a nice enough fella to put that NES with Mario Bros and Duck Hunt under my tree so many years ago. Me and Donkey Kong go way back. I've also got journalism experience in the gaming industry. So why in hell do I not have a blog?

I'm not afraid to admit that I had no idea really what a blog even was up until about a year ago. Huh, you mean people just write what they're feeling or whatever the hell they want to talk about and publish it for the world to see? It's presumptious, pompous and ridiculous I thought. Now, my mom has a blog for chrissakes. So in the end, I figured "what the hell?" Call me a sheep. A Lemming. If my friends all blogged off a bridge would I do it? You bet your ass because that's what friends do.

I can't really say where this blog will go as time passes. I'm sure it will be random at times. Other entries more poignant bordering on purposeful even. I'll hope to get better as time goes by (I'm not really sure why). But I will give it a shot at least making it somewhat interesting. If I get some readers... great! If not, at least I can tell my mom I tried.
