Ramblings of an Insomniac

Disclaimer:  I only had 3 hrs of sleep last night so most of this may not make sense to you.

.

I browsed the 2old2play forums for about an hour before I went to bed.  I was reading the blogs, and posting.  I woke up at 12:30am and all I could think about was the 2old2play website and the clan forums. After I laid there for about an hour I finally got out of bed and started playing Billiards on BigOne’s 360.  I even started COD2 and was about to be court marshaled for not following orders.  I couldn’t believe I was getting yelled at in a video game.

While reading the blogs most of you see them as a way to express yourself and get things off your chest.  Well I need to express myself and get this off my chest.

Ever since I returned from the Chicago LAN I have not been myself.  I saw how much fun everyone was having and thought I bonded with a few of you so, I decided I wanted to join in the fun.  But I am not having fun. I am making myself miserable.

On the way to work today I was listening to a comedy channel (Sirius Satellite Radio).  A comedian Brian Regan was making fun of the childhood game Musical Chairs.  The first time you play you don’t know the rules you count the chairs and hey there are not enough chairs how is this suppose to be fun when only one person can be the winner.  (This was very funny. It doesn’t come across that way when you type it).

A few times last week I thought about getting rid of my 360 and forgetting about the whole thing.  I was upsetting myself by comparing blogs, number of comments, who had the best avatar.  Then there’s Xbox Live. The whole point of Xbox live is the live part.  I started getting paranoid if I didn’t get invited to a game or if I did, would I be good enough to play with people without feeling like I was bringing down the room.

A light bulb went off over my head this morning especially after I heard the comedian.  I realized I hated that game (Musical Chairs) because there could be only one winner and if I can’t win I don’t want to play.  I’m very good at trivia games (I have a lot of useless information in my head just begging to come out), so I always enjoyed that type of game.  I knew that I would at least have a decent shot at winning those.   I am/was taking this way to serious.  This is gaming and the main word is GAME.  I felt like I had to be as good as the seasoned gamers in order to play with them.

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.  Hi my name is Librarian 0ne and I’m a sore loser.  The first thing I’m going to do I accept some of the ladies invites and start enjoying myself.  The second thing is to quit reading the blogs and posts before I go to bed.  Just kidding.

Out of the Sci-Fi Closet

Good news,  I recently found out how to access 2old2play and the clan forums while at workBad news is I recently found out.... well you know the rest.  I have a little free time at work right now.  Any whoo,  I'm officially labeled a Sci-Fi geek, nerd or whatever at work.  Yesterday I was having a conversation with a co-worker and the topic of Star Wars came up.  I had to explain the difference between a Sith Lord and a Jedi Master and then proceeded to discuss how I was depressed at the end of the Matrix trilogy because the story was over . She suggested maybe there would be a a prequel.  I spend a little (a lot) of time that afternoon thinking about plots and storylines for the prequel.  Just waiting on the Wachowski brothers to call me.  And to top it off another co-worker was working on a cross word puzzle and called me to find out what Keanu Reeves charater's name in the Matrix was because he just knew if anyone knew the answer it would be me.  So I'm out of the Sci-Fi closet and proud.

Had a Bad Day

Do you ever come into work and the first thing you see just honks you off.  Well that's what happened to me today.  I read my e-mails first thing in the morning and the first one I read upset me, honked me off,  so mad I was crying.  Ok I'm a girl and sometimes you just need to cry.  Well anyway about 2 hours into my day I decided to take a break and read the newest edition of Readers Digest.  Most of this issue was about jokes, comedians and how laughter is the best medicine.  They were right after I read the majority of magazine I felf much better.  Just a few simple jokes and laughing out loud made me realize life is to short to get honked off first thing in the morning and let it ruin the rest of my day.  I should wait and get honked off at the end of the day. I can't take any credit for these jokes they all came from the magazine. Hope they make you smile.

Temporary personality disorders:

Delusuions of Grandes:  Compulsive fantasizing about one's next Starbucks, even while sipping a Frappuccino.

Seasoning Affective Disorder:  Manifesed by the need to "kick things up a notch" even if things taste fine the way they are.

Pillsburty spokesman Pop N Fresh died yesterday at 71.  In attendance at the funeral were Mrs. Butterworth, the California Raisins, Hungry Jack, Betty Crocker and the Hostess Twinkies.  Fresh rose quickly in show business, but his career was filled with many turnovers.  He was not considered a smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes.  Still even as a crusty old man, he was a roll model for millions. Fresh is survived by his second wife.  They have two children and one in the oven.  The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

My first time.

I would like to thank everyone who attended the Chicago LAN. I had a great time. I went with Big0ne (my husband) because I thought it’s better than sitting at home and at the very least I could go shopping. Enough about Chicago,
I really wanted to express how my first few days of exposure to Xbox has been. I wanted to get involved and I thought I might try to play a game, learn how to operate the Xbox (I’m not sure I’ll ever get the hang of that thing) and then start to play live in a few weeks. The minute I mentioned my interest in getting involved with this to my husband started working on getting me signed up with an account, getting me a GT (which he had to tell me what that was) a sig (again no idea) and had me playing live that night. The first thing you should know about me is I’m technologically challenged. I traded in my old cell-phone for a new one that has no features and basically lets me receive and make calls. I’m on a first name basis with the IT department at work (they used to have to ask me where I was in the building but now they don’t even ask, they just shake there heads and try to help me). I write about this because it’s going to take a little while to familiarize myself with all of this and if you are unlucky enough for me to accept an invite from you, please be patient (sorry Tait, my first victim). I’m having Xbox anxiety already. To much information to fast. I’ve only been involved with this for 3 days and so far all I think about is playing and looking at the web site. I’ve left work early 2 days in a row so I can go home and practice before my husband gets home from work. This is also my first blog attempt so I’m not sure how long it should be so I’ll rap it up.
Thanks for all the welcome posts, you like me, you really like me . I’m going to get an Xbox for dummies book and make you proud. Or maybe all of this is just a side effect from the Abs (mmm Absinthe ).
