Do I really like the Wii?

I read this on bloomberg.com this morning regarding the speculation of an Xbox360 Pricecut: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601205&sid=an_wjSge1RpQ&refer=consumer

For the last two "generations" I have primarily owned Nintendo consoles and later bought a second console deep into the "console cycle" when there were significant price cuts.  And then I just played catch-up on all the great games that I had missed originally.  This is mainly because I generally find it very difficult to part with money (i.e. I'm a cheap bastard) and the thought of buying a $300 Xbox (at the time) and $400 Xbox 360 makes me ill.  I wouldn't even entertain the idea of a PS3.  So I made a conscious decision to buy both a Gamecube ($200) and Wii ($250) at their respective launches.  And I am not even a giant fan of the Nintendo franchises.  Mario is OK.  I love Zelda.  I like Metroid.  Donkey Kong has become a kids franchise.  Pokemon...forget it.  On some level I regret choosing the Gamecube.  There games that I loved, Eternal Darkness, the Resident Evil games, Animal Crossing, Rogue Squadron, but there were far more Xbox games that I loved.  The Gamecube, for me, was so-so.

So the thought of an Xbox360 pricecut...say by $50 or, gasp, $100, makes my mouth water.  Don't get me wrong, I really like the Wii...I think.  I mean, I loved Zelda:TP.  But other than that I haven't been gaga.  Maybe I don't really like the Wii...I'm not sure yet.  I know I like the idea of the Wii...the concept.  But I know that missing out on Halo 3 is going to be painful.

I'm praying for a nice pricecut.

Who is the Papier Boy?

The Papier Boy makes stuff out of old paper and glue and found-materials (junk, really). He lives in Nazareth, PA and works at a chemical plant where he has a nice cubicle with a picture of John Lennon & Paul McCartney and lots of books about chemicals. Artist's Statement: Creating something purely from the mind’s eye is one of the most human things imaginable. Craft is universal. It is the drive of children and the passion of adults.

The Papier Boy plays video games when he gets the chance.

The Papier Boy's art blog is located here: THE PAPIER BOY!
