Tomorrow is the big day!

Well, tomorrow I go back to work. After being laid off since March 23rd, I have been rehired at the same place. With a 20% raise no less. It is really kind of funny looking back and remembering how pissed, worried, and down right scared I was to be unemployed. Not to mention my inability to find a new job during that time. Now I am going back at more money, not loosing any seniority, and the same benefits (which were pretty good). Life really can be funny and cruel all at once!!

A few months ago I bought a new computer, and I decided to go with a mac. My 1st by the way. And I really like it.

Jimmy

I grew up a huge fan of Tool, and am still a huge fan today. Regardless of whether or not you like the band, you have to admit, nothing comes close to matching their unique sound. Not to mention the fact that they have never waivered from what it was they wanted to do in their music. In fact some could say they were even a bit selfish in their musical choices. These guys really don't care what you or I want to hear, or how we want to hear it. They continue to kick out stuff they like, if we like it then great. This isn't to say they don't appreciate their fans, they just figure they produce great sounds, so there is no need to cater to those execs that think they know what it is you and I want to hear. The band is often misunderstood and their music is often shunned and feared by many, but from the first time I heard those haunting guitar tracks, the one-of-a-kind drum beats, and the moving sound of Maynard's very original vocals, I was hooked.

And my absolute favorite song is Jimmy. Enjoy!

I was bored, so I googled my name, you know we have all done it at least once. And I stumbled across something I had written 4 years ago. It was written in response to an article containing an interview where David Arnett gave some pretty straightforward opinions about Iraq and the United States. Apparently Mr. Arnett hit a nerve with me.

Anyway it was just interesting to come across this, and I sort of wondered to myself where all that passion went. I guess 4 years and 2 children later, your passions sort of switch focus.

And here is the response:

Someone explain to me what exactly the "truth" is. What is it exactly we need to know about the conflict with Iraq? What are people looking for? Saddam admiited publicly he has aided, supported, and encouraged terrorist acts against Israel. The "truth" came straight from the mouth of the man himself. His actions also speak volumes. Saddam has given away millions of dollars to the families of Islamic militants. Of course the only thing this money costs families is the life of one of their sons. They then become the proud family of a martyr and hero of the Arab people.

I pose this question: If you were the son of a poor family with a bleak and miserable future and had little opportunity to provide anything better for them, would it bother you? We always say people around the globe are more alike than we would like to admit, so how can we believe this young man would not do everything in his power and range of capabilities to provide a better existence for his family. Still some will say we are trying to inflict our way of life on those who are perfectly happy with what they have now. Well, I for one can not believe a family in the desert with barely enough food or water to survive, little to no medical treatment, and many of life's other essentials would mind one bit American's, or any other country for that matter, providing them with modern availabilities in an effort to help them live a more comfortable existence. So, the son faced with the inevitability his little brother or mother might die of starvation, or some other equally as horrible condition and as easily preventable, hears a man from Baghdad is giving away thousands of dollars to young men's families he immediately becomes interested. He later realizes all he has to do is blow himself up on a bus, on a plane, in a building, church, school, or anyplace where a large group of people have gathered. This all in the name of Allah, or the more worshiped deity in America, the almighty dollar.

The people of Arab nations are no different than those of America; they will do anything to ensure the survival of their families. They will kill you, me, or anyone we love. I submit many of us would too if subjected to the same conditions these people are day after week after month after year as they are. We have no idea what it is like in these countries, and if you think for one minute that our military can do more damage to that country in a few weeks or months than what it has been experiencing since the dawn if time, you are the one who needs to seek the "truth". A few news stories covering the relatively small number of innocent people killed during a war is not the "truth".

A self-proclaimed "newsman", publicly scrutinizing the military and leadership of the very country he has claimed citizenship of for 25 years, is not the "truth". Peter Arnett is a traitor to the American people. His comments, aka the "truth", on Iraqi TV served only to further damage the perception of America in the Middle East, and possibly extend the suffering of the already abused and tortured people of Iraq. The "truth" is that on Iraqi TV there is no mention of the food and water brought by the coalition, the medical treatment given to the very people who have killed and are killing American and British soldiers, and the extremely dangerous and often foolish attempt of the ALLIES to avoid any loss of life by anyone in the conflict. After all, Saddam was given every opportunity to leave, his military was informed of the force it was up against, and they were given and still are given the opportunity to stop fighting now in order to spend their remaining lives in peace and friendship with the US and the rest of the world. The "truth" is not what you want it to be sir. In direct response to your advice to Americans to learn for themselves the realities of the war, I suggest you heed it yourself, because you are only regurgitating the very propaganda you have been force fed by anti-Americans, or should I say anti-everything but Arabs.

Do you really believe our life will be spared by these suicidal Muslims, because you thought and believed they were being wronged? My advice to you sir is to read the list of names of the INNOCENT victims of 9/11. If you do, you will find several Arab names right alongside those of us "EVIL AMERICAN DEVILS". God bless America, and all those who have, are, and will fight to the death for her. That's right, the "truth" is Americans are fanatical about something too, but because we want to be, not because we are told to be.

Back to Work

Looks like I am due back to work on the 16th of July!

Financially this is a big relief, but other concerns develop. The biggest is the new population we will be receiving.

Those of you who know me also know that I work in a private prison. For the past 10 years our population has been Oklahoma inmates. We have become experts on how to manage Oklahoma inmates.

Now we have to learn all about Arizona inmates. We will be new to them just as they will be new to us. This will be a very volatile time.

Anyone one who has ever worked around inmates before understands how they work. They are always testing the staff. I just hope we pass.

I am the prison's designated non-violent crisis prevention intervention instructor, so I believe in non-violent techniques to deescalate potentially violent situations. As you may guess, this is the minority viewpoint in prisons, at least in my experience.

I am certain that the first few months w/ this new population, I will be called on to be the token attempt to calm things down before the "muscle" is sent in to settle things down.

In some ways this is a necessary chain if events, as we will have to show the new population that our tolerance for violations of facility policy as well as Oklahoma and Arizona state laws is very low.

At any rate, the next few months starting in July, should lead to some pretty interesting blog posts. LOL.

Hmmmm.....

I feel kinda bad about showing off the plasma(see below) but not the family. So, here is a quick post to fix that.

The 1st pic shows part of my lovely wife April, my little baby daughter Dru, and a headless portion of my boy Bronsen...LOL. I never claimed to be a photographer.

Next we have a full view of Bronsen, PJs and all.

Today his his Bday party, he will be 5 on the 29th, but in the past we have had the party on the weekend of his actual birth date, but Memorial weekend proves hard on attendance.

Wow how life can change!!

looks like the place that laid me off wants me back, at a higher price no less. Seems to good to be true at this point, so I will reserve jumping up and down in celebration when it all happens.

Also, is it just me, or does my blog always seem to have a WoW advertisement above it. Recently a fellow guild member, one who knows exactly how blizzard pwnt Umbee, pointed that out to me.

Is it just us, or is this the 2o2p site management's sense of humor?

So, I am really confused about this entire process. Blizzard never answered my request for a detailed explanation of why I was banned to begin with. Very strange. So after about 5 days of permanent banishment from Azeroth, I seem to have been forgiven.
