Spring is here!
Wow, I can't believe it's here. This is one of my favorite seasons. BUT with Spring, you get...tornadoes. We get those Spring time severe Tstorms. I'm sure you all heard what happened in Suffolk Va last Monday. Well, this happened 3 miles from my dads house, about 40 minutes from my house. SE Virginia doesn't get tornadoes so this has hit home and shaken me into reality. It's some scary shit! Since this is local news, I see the damage everyday. Yeah, we get tornado warnings, and before I have just blown them off until now, but I think the last one that hit around here was in 1970's. It's just so hard to imagine that, for me, I get up every morning and continue with my routine. But just 40 minutes away, people are cleaning up their lives, if they can even find belongings! Houses?? What houses? A bunch of them were totaled..just wiped off the foundation and crumbled to pieces. So my thoughts go out to the people of Suffolk Va.And with Spring, you get the baby birds just out of the nest that are stuck in your yard with 2 German Shepherds because they can't fly and the dogs really have to pee so you let them out, then the dogs try to chase them. Or the dogs get yelled at so they go do their business and the momma and poppa birds are swooping down at the dogs while they pee. I can't help but to laugh. On a side note, our male, Kane, had to go to the vet for his annual visit..heart worm check (negative), nails clipped, poop sample and to have his skin looked at. Poor guy has been suffering from the pollen and has licked his paws raw. Turns out he has bacteria on his skin and that's from the pollen, ggggrrrr. So $200.30 later we are out the door with 2 weeks supply of antibiotics. And the only way he will take the PILLS, not tablets, is from a spoonful of peanut butter with pills inside.
Only 27 more school days left!! Woo Hoo. I am not a morning person, never have been, never will be (I don't think). Becca is preparing for her SOL's. yeah I know, Pearly laughed when I told her, too. They are the Standards of Learning Tests. Basically your end of year tests. I get so excited this time of year cause I know it's almost over!
Pearly's visit was very nice. She got here at maybe 4 pm, got Chinese for dinner and just vegged out on the couch and talked for the next 4/5 hours. Love meeting new people! And the dogs really loved her!

just more ramblings
so here I sit, 1 am thinking how great, yet trying, it has been the last month or so. LB's job and him working from home has been AWESOME...when he is home. The first week on the job, he spent it in San Diego, then some other trips, then some more. He is due back Thur night, flies out Sunday, then so on and so on. I get it. I understand all this traveling. it's our 9 YO that doesn't. I married him when he was in the navy, stationed on a ship, I did the Military wife thing. Daddy is her hero and gets upset when he leaves. I have tried explaining to her why he is doing this, she still doesn't get it. Although I think it's getting a little better. So, a couple days before President's Day, LB, Becca and I went to Hooters for dinner. LB has this addiction to their wings (so he says) and I swear I am gonna wake up in the middle of the night to hear him nibbling on his fingers...or mine
Becca saw that gum ball machine that if you get a black gum ball, the wings are free. She must have tried like 5 times! She popped one gum ball in her mouth and out popped a loose tooth. A couple days later I took her to her 6 month dental cleaning. New dental tech, no older than 23. As Becca is in the chair and the DT is getting ready to start on her cleaning, the following conversation started...Becca..watch out, I lost a tooth the other night chewing on a gum ball at Hooters
DT..Who took you to Hooters? (laughing)
Becca..My daddy.
Me..sitting in the chair in corner not sure who to laugh at more...the big eyed DT or what Becca said

Becca will be 10 on April 10th. Ugh! She is growing so fast. We are having her party on April 12th. Finger food plus Hooters wings
Time sure has flown. After one more year in elementary school it's off to MIDDLE school! ACK! I am so not ready for this. She is doing much better this year. I like her teacher and I believe the teacher from last year has resigned. Hmm, imagine that! Becca has made the B honor roll this past semester. We are so proud of her!!Posted by bunky @ 1:09 am EDT | Permalink | 1 Comments

blah blah blah
Hmm, where to start. The fitness forum! All is going well after ending our 2nd week. I'm not telling the weight loss for some, but I will say that I am very proud of my team! GO TEAM CURVY! And I will say that I myself have lost 5 lbs since Jan 2nd
Not too shabby, I think. Feb 1st is our first official forum weigh in. Everyone will weigh in and report to their team leader. All Team Leaders will report that to MJ and he will then post the total loss in his blog, so keep an eye out for it. I am also very proud of everyone that has signed up and participated and has made changes in their lives to make it better for them. I know it's a very difficult thing to do. Keep up the GREAT work!Big changes in LB's and my home life. As you all know, he posted in his blog that he quit his job this week. I am so proud of him for taking such a big leap to make things better. I know he was miserable. So now he will be working from home. Yes, what a dream job! It's gonna be very very different and I will need, no, we will need time to adjust to him being home all day with me. No, I don't work out of the home. It'll be nice that we will not have to spend so much $$ on gas, on his lunches, etc.
Well now that the Holidays are over and everything is all packed up and put away, the house is back to normal, I have started yet again to work on my genealogy. I have done so for the past 5 years off and on. I have seen a shit load of graves in Pa, where my dad grew up and my family is dated WAAAAAY back to that area. I love doing this and it gets very exciting when you find your ancestors. Just think..back in the 1700/1800's having 15 kids was the norm
I mean, can you imagine growing up with 14 sibs? It's interesting to see what they did for a living, where they lived, etc. LB doesn't get it..he laughs at me when I get excited cause I found someone else and their kids, lol. He did install a program for me though. It's called the "Heritage Family Tree". You just put all the info in you have on a person and it tells you that this person is your 5th cousin 10 times removed. It's great. And I have close to 700 names listed! I did find out I am (very distant) related to Louisa May Alcott. I am having a bit of trouble with some names. So if you live in the Jefferson Co of Pa (or surrounding areas) and you know of Doverspike, Daubenspike, Smith, Rugh/Ruch, let me know, I am having a hell of a time finding them.
Well, that's about all I got for now

update on step dad, and something about the fur-kids
well, he went in on the 22nd, had the operation and was over HERE visiting the next day! He was bouncing off the freaking walls! What I learned though, was that the doc took 2 viles of stones out, containing about 200 stones total. Now, isn't it true that the normal person with stones would have a few? Maybe a few more? I learned that he was born with this condition and will more likely have to have this again. Thanks so much for the thoughts and prayers, I really appreciate it all. Now, on to the fur-kids. We have 2 german shepherds, Kane and Allie. Love them both to pieces. We got them both from a local rescue group.
As I am laying in bed last night, Allie is on the floor at the foot of the bed sleeping. She starts growling, twitching and whimpering. What was she dreaming about? Kane, on the other hand has never had any of these dreams. In the almost 2 years we have had him, never once have I heard him do this. It is an almost nightly thing with Allie though. A little background... Allie was beaten. I mean someone actually scared the ever loving shit out of her to the point that when we got her, she would not hang around LB75. She was terrified of him, and to this day (a few years after getting her) we still can not hold her paws. We have to have the vet LAY on her to clip her nails! She loves him now though, but it was a hard road to go down. So, is she dreaming about getting beaten?
Kane was abused as well, but it was more neglected. He wasn't being fed and when we got him, I think he only weighed about 50-60 something pounds. He was so sick looking and we could see his bones. I just want to know why people do this? Why have a dog and not take care of it? Why beat them? Just a stern command from us does the trick with them, and that isn't very often that we have to do that. They are the most sweetest dogs I have ever seen. My mom always tells me that she is gonna steal Allie away from us, lol and people that hear their story are amazed at how well they behave for having the past they have. These two are my companions during the day. Well Kane is more of it, Allie wants to stay in the bedroom most of the day. I didn't really start this blog to get answers. I know that not everyone is a dog kind of person, but DAMN, do they have to beat them? I wasn't a dog person when we got Allie, but her behavior towards me made me change my mind. Since she was afraid of LB, she stayed by me most of the time. Well, the first night she was here she slept in our daughters room. It just makes me so mad when I hear stories like this. If we had the room, I would take more shepherds in
Thanks for reading
