Packing up again....

After only a year and a half my wife and I have decided that Ottawa is just not for us and we are heading back to our home towns. He are both quiting our jobs with nothing lined up back home (...hopefully not a mistake....lol....we will see) This has been in the works for weeks now but it is finally happening and I only have 2 weeks left in this town.

We are just starting to pack up everything once again (didnt I just do this six months ago.....lol). Man what a pain moving is. You live out of boxes for about 3 weeks or 4 weeks by the time everything is said and done. The worst part of it all is this move is only temp as well. Once we get back to and settled into the house we are renting we will begin our search for our first house!! We hope to have purchased and moved into our future home by April which gives us about another 6 months till me move again....i dread it already.......

Finished Lost Planet

Well I finally got the time to finish the PC version of Lost Planet. It is a fun game which is action packed and chaotic at times. The throw back to the old school boss battles is awesome and the mix between running around and using a mech is great. If you guys have a chance to play the PC or 360 version I suggest you do it. You won't be disappointed......unless you try to play the MP. I have a hell of a time connecting to a game. Capcom is aware of the problem and slowly working on the issue. They should have it fixed by the time the game dies away. Oh well, nothing is perfect I guess.

XP or Vista

I am trying to decide whether I should have XP or Vista running on my game system. I have Vista right now but I am wondering if I will get more performance out of XP. With the Vista only games being cracked for XP now as well there is really nothing kepping me with Vista. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?

New Computer System

Well I have finally built my new PC. I work for a computer wholesaler/distributor so I get some crazy deals on computer stuff. Last week I decided I would upgrade to something a little newer. I decided to go with an AMD X2 4600+, 2gb (2 X 1) OCZ Dual Channel RAM, Asus M2A-VM motherboard and an nVidia 8600GT (which I have overclocked to almost the specs of an 8600GTS!) So far it has been great alothough having to reinstall everything again is such a pain.

I am curently playing the following games: Battlefield 2, Prey, Lost Planet, Guild Wars, Counter Strike Source. Send me a message if you want to play some time. I am picking up a copy of Shadow Run tomorrow and then I have a copy of Dirt on its way via mail sometime this week as well.

Back Online!

Well it has been a hell of a week. I finally have finished moving to my new place. What an ordeal it was. We had rented a U-Haul for 7am but we didnt end up getting a truck until after 9am. When we finally get the truck loaded and arrive at the new place the service elevator was out of order and there was only the one elevator in the lobby to we were not allowed to put the elevator on service since other residents would need to use it. It took about 3 hours to unload the first load and then we had to rush back and pick up the last bunch of stuff and get it unloaded in about 1 hour to so we could have the truck back to avoid any extra charges Uhaul. Anyways the whole day was just to stressful (but what move isn't). Today we spent the day unpacking and getting most of the stuff and getting it all set up. I am just so glad it is over!

Playing Guild Wars Again!

Well I started back into Guild Wars this week. It has been about 1 year since I last played so the story is a mystery to me. I an starting to remember how everything works and I am getting some help for the people in the Guild Wars Guru Guild. I have but in about 6 hours this week. I am using the toon i had before which is a Warrior/monk. I was level 10 when I started and in piken square. I think I have finished the last quest there and I am on to a new land when I play tomorrow. It is a great game and I should have given a better chance when I first got it. I just have a short attention span when it comes to games. I am always looking to try something else.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - the uninstal

Well I must say that the game uninstalls much nicer than it installs.....LOL. I was not satisfied with this game at all. The high requirements, the terrible aiming system and boring NPC interaction just creamed uninstall me please!!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Impressions Part 2 - Actually trying the game!

After the dreadful install, I finally got to try the game for about 30min or so. To run it I had to drop to Medium settings and then tweak a few of the options in the advanced menu. The load times are a killer, it took about 5 min to load the level before I could get playing. The intro is pretty, the graphics are just awesome in it. The game seemed to stutter through the intro and the first five mins of the game but then disappeared. The game is pretty cool a nice mix of some FPS with a bit of RPG style thrown in. With my current rig the visuals are not all that impressive but I am sure that on the high end systems the game looks amazing. I have to look and see if there is an option for auto save. You get so used to having ti there that when I died after the first couple quests I actually had to start all over again. So far so good, I will keep you all posted.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Impressions Part 1 - The installation

Ok, I picked up STALKER tonight and I am going to try and get it up and running on my AMD 2500+ with Radeon X700 Pro and 1.5GB of RAM. Set one was the installation and aside from it taking 47min all has gone smooth. Next is the actually playing the game...........

Back to Guild Wars

Since I have sold my 360 I have decided to get back into Guild Wars. I didn't renew my WoW subscription withthe intent to give GW so much needed attention and it is free! I think I am going to start out fresh with a new character since it has been about 1 year since I played last. I am looking for some people to play with and show me the ropes all over again. If you are interested my character is 'Maltric of Skywall' or look me up on Xfire 'CanadianBacon81'.

Sold my 360!

I sold my 360 last week in order to get some cash so I could get a new PC. I sold it for over $1000 with all the games and accessories. I am now working on a new PC configuration and should have it in the upcoming weeks. Since I work for a distributer I will be able to get all the parts I need at dirt cheap prices. I will keep you all posted on the new system.

I purchased Battlefield 2 for the PC this week to play on my current rig. It was only $20 at EB so it was a good deal. I am terrible but slowly getting the hang of it all. If any of you out there play add CanadianBacon81 to Xfire and we can play some time.

Back to World of Warcraft

Well I restarted my subscription with WoW tonight (see what happens when the wife has a week off and decides to go back to her home town for a few days...lol). Anyways, I have scrapped all my old toons and I started a Orc Warrior on Perenolde called DarthOrc. I am currently at lvl 6. If anyone else is on Perenolde feel free to add me to your friends list.

Games to easy these days.....

Ever notice when you were a kid, it would take forever to beat a game. I know there are NES games that I only ever played the same 5 levels or so or and over because I could never get passed a certain point. Games have change though. Now it only takes a couple days or serious playing to complete a game like CoD3, Halo 2 or Gears of War. I guess I just miss the challenge of the old games thats all.
