Zippers Anyone?
My lazy weekend has been a much needed rest. I went out for some fun in the sun today, but spent most of the time lounging in the backyard with friends. We made Lemonade Zippers! You start to feel warm and relaxed in two sips. Well I do, cause I'm delicate...lol
I finished one book this weekend. For some reason, I keep putting down "Brave New World" to read something else. I like its clever writing style, but for some reason, it's not holding my attention. In order to fully appreciate the novel, I have to remind myself that all of the seemingly trite plot elements were actually quite new for this book. All of it was copied so much over the years, it sounds tired now. Even the more widely read "1984" took a lot fom this earlier work; might have improved many of the concepts, but certainly borrowed heavily. I'm half way through. I just need to 'do it' and finish it up. It's my goal by the end of this week to have it completed.
I made a promise to my 12th grade teacher that I would read it. She'd be happy to know I'm trying.
On the Okami frontline: I love feeding the piggys (aka boars). Maybe it's because I can relate....LOL... oink oink...LOL. I haven't had anything too frustrating with the Wii remote, yet. No problems drawing circles, lines, bombs or anything, yet. The most I had to do is draw something twice. Now, the part I'm not thrilled with is the game is a bit too easy. OK, it's real easy. That said, it's still (at this time) a strong 9. The Wii paint brush is too much fun. I like the music so much, I'm going to order the soundtrack.
Enjoy what's left of the weekend.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a zipper to drink. . .

My Kind Of Weekend...
...no going out, no running errands, no late night outings, no funticions, no cleaning, no working at home, no gardening, no shopping. This weekend, I do what I want. Lay around playing games and eating good food, in between naps. Home Sweet Home!
It's raining out, but somewhere between the ginormous pillows scattered across the floor and soft fluffy quilts, I lay. Still in PJs, fuzzies on my feet. TV remote, coffee and drenched in maple syrup, frozen waffles await.
Okami, the seductive thing she is, lures me into a state of calm but assertive play.
The room fills with majestically haunting scores. I am one with the wolf.
This game is so charming and calming to look at, it brings beauty to my screen. Now I have an urge to turn my room into an eclectic, vaugely Oriental look. To say this game is stunning, is a weak statement. It's video game art at it's best.
I can't believe Nintendo Magz. gave this game a 7.5. I haven't played the whole game yet, but, thus far, it's a strong 9.
I debated over the PS2 and Wii versions (thanks to PAgent for helping me decide), but went with the Wii Okami. The remote (so far) is not a problem or frustrating (as some reviews said it was). And the girly-girl in me loves feeding the critters, seeing pink hearts dancing around their heads. It only took two years for me to get, but Okami has come home.

There are only two emotions in a plane: boredom and terror. ~Orson Welles
You know you fly too much when you recognize the stains on the seats.
Airline woes:
Airlines are charging $15 bucks to check your luggage and some are charging $2 for a in-flight coke. I never check my luggage, I always do carry-on. I don't like waiting at Baggage pickup, while I wonder if my luggage will be intact, or there at all.
I'm trying to change with current times and the Airlines new rules, but I'm still getting use to the fact they don't feed you anymore. I know airline food sucks, but when you didn't have time to grab a quick meal you could always eat the in-flight meal...better than nothing. Or, me standing in my socks, while having some strange man go through my luggage with looks of suspicion. Yeah, cause I look like a criminal and those panties are dangerous.....
Today....
I'm sitting here waiting to board my flight. I'm not in the mood to read anything, bored, tired, hoping for no more delays. I was thirsty as well. I turned my back on that clear blue bottle of Aquafina. I started thinking of my last flight and the lesson I learned. I look at my water bottle with misgiving. I dispose of it in my bag. I tell myself "dehydration is the best way to go"
Finely! I see the plane pull up to the gate.
Two days before, on a different flight.......
Before boarding my flight, the very sweet sounding reservationist says " Flight blu blu bla will not be allowing carry on beverages, please dispose of all beverages before boarding....blu....blu....yada....bla I say "no problem, I'll drink like a fish before they broad the flight." So I down a 48 oz bottle of water. Ha Ha Ha, I'm well quenched. The rest of the poor suckers will have to go thirsty.....but not me!
After boarding, finding my seat, happy as all get out, that the guy sitting next to me is not over flowing in his seat, and in fact is very nice looking. I settle in for what is supposed to be a short flight. Captain speaks... "Welcome aboard flight bla bal bal.....yada yda yda"...................."Wait," I say, "what did he just say?"....Guy next to me says, "something about facilities not working perfectly" So, I'm thinking, no problem, I should be able to hold it til we land, no problem what so ever. But wait....what did the Captain just say this time?..... "This is your Captain. Due to weather conditions we have some delays....we'll be sittin' here till the 20 or so northbound Boeing's in front of us take off. So sit tight and we'll give you an update as soon as we hear somethin'. (Have you ever wondered why pilots all talk with a Southern drawl?....Chuck Yeager knows.)
So immediately people start jumping up from their seats to "move around the cabin" Me thinking to myself "OH NO," as I watch people line up for the restrooms that ain't working perfectly. After sitting for some time on the tarmack, I realize I shouldn't have drank like a fish, 'cause now I have to..........like a horse (as they say)
Whose cocky now?!?....Well I can till you it ain't me.
I watch the long restroom line slowly move, inch by S L O W inch. Some time goes by. What's this? What's this?...... only a few people in line now....I see my chance.....I'm going for it! Relief is at hand! As I start crawling over the two guys sitting next to me I hear...... "This is your Captain...please take your seats, we are next in line for take off. Flight attendants prepare for takeoff" Me: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I start turning blue trying to hold it, hoping the cute guy sitting next to me doesn't see me explode. God, I love flying. Come fly with me, come fly with Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I did make it to the restroom, but only after fighting with a very unhappy fight attendant. She backed off when I gave her the obvious ultimatum.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a flight to catch...

Yahoooooo!!!!
The fourth of July was filled with screams, food, ahhhhs, and a few bruises.
I couldn't eat another rib, baked beans, cole slaw, or peach cobbler again...Oooooo Cobbler!
I'm happy to report, that not only did I buy that Slip 'N Slide, but played on it! My neighbors kids and a few friends came to play. We had so much fun that we didn't stop till the fireworks started. We screamed, laughed and I got a few bruises....lol Yes I even got grass in my toes...wooohooo!
Slip 'N Slide + Hill + Dishsoap = flew off the end of that darn thing.....Yahoooo!!!....and my tush paid the price....lol Let the discoloration begin.
Then we (and the mosquitoes) watched the sky light up with color.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to find that COBBLER!...

Slip N Slide!!!
My black car was sitting in the sun all day. I was out in the sun most of the day. I was as overheated as my car. It was so hot my a/c (that usually works great) was struggling to cool me off. All I could think of was getting home, and heading to the pool.
As I got closer to home, I saw all my neighbors' houses with the sprinkler systems on. I stared out my window at the green grass with dew drops glistening in the sun, the fine mist was floating in the air. I could smell its cool refreshing liquid.
I was wishing I could tear off my clothes, right down to my skivvies. Then run and frolic in the sprinklers...like when I was a wee one... Then I remembered my Slip N Slide! I LOVED that thing! My grandpa extended my slide for me and put a little pool at the bottom. And, if that wasn't perfect enough, my mom added some Joy dish soap. I was in slip n slide heaven. I was having so much fun, my mom joined me. I had grass in my teeth, toes, and hair. I slept like a cool baby that night.
If I wasn't such a wuss, and worried what the neighbor's might think, I would stop at my local Toys R' Us and buy one of those babies.
Until I get the nerve up, this will have to do.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to head to Toys R' Us....
