My First At Work Entry...

Only two or three more weeks of this rush, rush, rush crap here at work. You see we are working on some units that will go into the Tire Lube Express centers at Wal-Marts all across the country. For the time being we are on two shifts, my supervisor took the night shift, and that left me with days and in the role of day supervisor. We hired a bunch of temp labor from a local staffing group to help with the work, unfortunately alot of them are as dumb as a bag of hammers, so not only are we rushed, we have to babysit folks as well. I really don't mind the fact that our help isn't as skilled as I would like, but I hate being rushed for anything. Rushing = mistakes. That's something that we never can get through to upper management when they are planning for everything. Oh, well at least it will almost be done by the time Force Unleashed comes out.

My vacation is officially over tomorrow...

Well I did it, I am now employed by the fine folks at Meridian Kiosks, I start tomorrow at 7am. Thanks to all the folks that have read my bitching and moaning about being unemployed, and have left words of kindness and inspiration.

One more step to go...

Got a call this morning while I was taking the two youngest kids to daycare, it was Meridian Kiosks letting me know that my background check came back OK. I went to piss in a cup this morning after I found out, so that is all that is left now. I will get the results in 24-48 hours, and hopefully be able to start by next week at the latest. Finally I get to make some money again.

New job finally?...

I got a call from Meridian Kiosks today, it seems the guy they hired instead of me didn't work out. He was hired over me because he wanted less money, like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Anyway, they want to hire me because I have the experience and drive to do the job. The guy who will be my boss I have worked with before and he knows the work I can and will do for him. He wanted to hire me before, but really didn't have the final say, but now he is going to tell "the man" that I am the one who needs to be in there. I am waiting to hear back from them so I can go for my drug screening today, which will be no problem as I am clean as a whistle. He told me that he wants to get me trained on the CNC machinery that they have and eventually over to the CAD-programming side of things, which I also have experience with, so it seems that this would definitely be the job I would be most "at home" with. I am pretty excited about the whole situation, and hope I can start next week.

Another Interview

I have an interview tomorrow with Kolcraft, you know, the baby accessory folks, I applied to an opening they have as a forklift operator. It's no dream job by any means, the pay is kind of crappy, but I do have plenty of experience though. Most likely I will accept it if they offer it to me because I really need something and soon, but I plan on telling them I can't start until next week so I can give Unilever until the end of the week since I am supposed to hear from them this week. I'm tired of sitting around here waiting for the phone to ring feeling useless.

Still on the hunt for a job, I should be hearing from Unilever sometime this week, so keep your fingers crossed.

Here's a cowboy joke.

A young cowboy walks into a seedy cafe in Western Oklahoma.

staring blankly at a full bowl of chili.

After fifteen minutes of just sitting there staring at it, the young cowboy

I just got off of the phone with the Unilever job recruiter, and I am scheduled for preliminary testing tomorrow morning at 8:00am. There will be four tests to take, and I have 45 minutes to complete each test, and calculators are permitted. I am so going to ace this shit. So everyone wish/pray for me, because we really need this to happen.

Still Jobless, but...

I got a call last night from a job recruiter at Unilever, which if you don't know make alot of the things you and I use everyday from foods to household type products. Anyway, I applied for a few jobs Monday at their Raeford plant which is about 45 minutes away from where I am, and I got a call back almost immediately Monday, and the recruiter after asking me a few questions determined I wasn't the right candidate for the job. That's ok, I still had others to go for. So last night after I got home from picking the kids up and going to Taco Bell for dinner, there was a message on the machine from a recruiter asking if I was still interested in a particular position, of course I am, I called him back, but all I got was his voice mail. I will try again on Monday, and hopefully I will get an interview that will lead to a position with Unilever.

AAARRRRGGGGGG

What the hell is wrong with companies these days? I called my ISP, which is a local company, with a problem. My connection keeps dropping at least once a day while I am either gaming or browsing the Internet. So I called my ISP, which again is a local company, and after 5 minutes of surfing the menus I get someone to help me. And who do I get? Some person from India who can't speak English for shit. I hate asking someone repeatedly what they just said. I also hate explaining to someone a problem, and all they do to help me is read from a fucking script. Just send someone over to fix my damn problem if all you can do is tell me to unplug my modem, after I just told you that I did that, and rebooted my computer. No wonder I can't find a job.

Phone Call

I just got off of the phone with a guy who is in the same Bible study group I am, he is a manager at the local Ace Hardware franchise, and he wants me to come in Monday morning to talk about a job. It's not my dream job, but it sure will ease things until I can get into something else.

Got an email from the VP of Operations at a company that I have applied to, he wants me to call him tomorrow to set up an interview time. Things may be looking up. Wish me luck.

A disturbing trend

I have noticed that some folks here are losing their jobs around the holidays, myself included. The company that I was with has decided to close up shop leaving it's employees screwed this holiday season. This is not good, as I am sure the ones that have lost employment already know. Decent jobs are real hard to come by this time of the year, and mortgage companies, power companies, etc. don't want to hear that you have been laid off. They will tell you that they are sorry for your misfortune, and to an extent I appreciate that, but unfortunately it does not put cash into my checking account. My thoughts and prayers are with all of us that are in the same boat this holiday season. I hope that soon after the new year, if not before we all find something that will suffice, if not exceed our expectations.

5 Day Weekend... WOO HOO

Like the title says, I'm off for the next 5 days, so starting tonight, I plan on gaming quite a bit. Oh, and Punman, get COD4 already, you know you want it. And lastly, happy Thankgiving to my clan mates in Rebel Scum and Aged Assassins, and the rest of the site, even if I don't know you.
