Top Ten Albums Of All Time

I have been listening to alot of music at work on my mp3 player, and I have decided to list my top 10 albums of all time.

10. Swervedriver - Mezcal Head : The last great "shoegaze" band from England, this album just flows so well from start to finish. It's great to listen to it when you just want to mellow out somewhat.

9. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Mothers Milk : This is the first album that I ever heard from these guys, and IMO the best that have ever released. The music and lyrics matured alot from their earlier stuff.

8. Metallica - ...And Justice For All : Their most ambitious album ever, period. Bordering progressive, it's unfortunate that this band will never release a record of this caliber again.

7. Quicksand - Manic Compression : Next to Helmet, these guys are the post-hardcore kings. This second, and sadly their last release, was not quite as good as their first, but it still made the top ten.

6. Quicksand - Slip : The brilliant first album from NYHC alums. Crushing riffs, great off-time drums, and intellegent lyrics make this a must own. It's a shame there aren't many bands like this anymore.

5. Helmet - Betty : Helmet's third release is hailed by many as their worst, but I beg to differ. True it was a tad more experimental in areas, but the songs are a bit "groovier" and laid back. Plus, Paige Hamilton calms down a bit and actually sings instead of barking lyrics like a drill instructor.

4. Bad Brains - I Against I : Hailed by most as their absolute best. Close but not quite. This CD shows another side of the Brains, their jazz / fusion background definitely shines here.

3. Suicidal Tendencies - How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I can't Even Smile Today : An awesome CD to listen to if things are getting a little rough. Mike Muir always knows just what to say to make me feel better.

2. Bad Brains - Quickness : This is their most accomplished album to date. The entire band was on top of their game.

1. Big Drill Car - CD/Album/Tape Type Thing : I can't say enough about this band, it's just a shame that they didn't get the recognition they deserve. If you like bands like the Descendents, ALL, or Dag Nasty, then you should check ebay, and get one of their albums, as they are way OOP. This CD has helped me through many rough times.

Labor Day

My 2 year old has the right idea for Labor Day. Geishagirl has to work, so that means I get to do housework and watch kids today. YAY.

Last Night

Last night my two older sons ganged up on the two year old and somehow caused him to fall on his face and puncture his lip pretty badly.  We still don't know exactly what happened, the oldest told me that he told the middle child to throw the two year old off of the bed.  So needless to say we spent a few hours in the ER last night.  The physician on duty said that since most small children tend to pull out or just simply eat the stitches out of their lips there was no point in putting any in unless we absolutely wanted to.  My wife and I agreed that we didn't want the stitches, and he seems to be doing pretty well today.  Every once in a while he will point at his lip and say ouch or something to that effect, but other than that he seems ok.  At least I got a day off from work because of it, although I will be hating the fact next payday.

WTF?

Sometimes I really wonder what the hell people are thinking.  I work for a company that manufactures casino furniture, for you guessed it... casinos.  Well, the owner, who also doubles as the salesman, because he is too damn tight to hire a competent one, goes out this past spring and gets contracts to make the chairs for most of the casinos in Mississippi that were damaged or just plain wiped out by hurricane Katrina.  I suppose he didn't realize just how many chairs this was going to be, because ever since we have been behind and struggling to get these damn things out of the door.  Every day goes by, and other employees in my department (metal fabrication) are wanting to stay late and work on these orders, and of course earn a little overtime, they are told no.  I can't work over in the afternoons due to having to pick up the kids from daycare (Geishagirl doesn't get off in time to do it).  So Friday afternoon, just five minutes before time to call it a day, we are told that if we want we can work Saturday.  Well since I don't make near what I am worth, hell who does for that matter?  I figure this would be a good time to earn some extra money, and since we get off at 3:30pm, still have a decent amount of my Saturday left.  So Friday evening I stop playing Halo 2 early (had a blast with no modifier, and a few people from Division XX, good people they are) so I could get plenty of rest to bust ass and get some chairs out the door.  I get up Saturday drive over to my job, and WTF?  No one is there, I wait for a few minutes, and no one ever shows.  So I go home and have a normal Saturday, play a few games of Halo 2 and Battlefront 2 with the wife and kids, blah, blah, blah.  Well, 8:30 Sunday morning rolls around and I hear the phone ringing, I figure it's one of the kids as they spent the night elsewhere, or Geisha's mom, as she sometimes calls early on Sundays because she wants to do breakfast.  Being how I just knew it wasn't for me, I let Geisha answer the phone.  I hear her ask in her "You just woke me up at 8 fucking 30 on a Sunday morning" voice "Who may I ask is calling?"  Then I get handed the phone, with a "You better cuss his ass out" said under her breath.  Guess who it is, the owners son wondering if I can come in for a couple of hours because he is in a bind and needs to get out 400 chairs by tomorrow.  Oh well, I think to myself as I tell him no.  I know that a couple of hours with his lazy ass will turn in to an all day thing, and Geisha isn't having that.  I hate my job.
