Day 2 Update...

Well I am back from an evening out to update about day 2.

The morning started w/ me venturing to Hall H for the WB panel. I was a little worried that the hall would be filled to capacity, as it did yesterday for Paramounts panel. Schedule for WB's panel was Get Smart, a remake of The Invasion, a supernatural thriller One Missed Call, another thriller Whiteout and an update to Watchmen. Funny how only one of the movies is comic book related. Anyways, as I arrive, the line had wrapped around the building. I was thinking to myself crap, here we go again. As the line was being let in, there was some sky writing w/ a telephone number. I kind of ignored and later would regret that I did, as it was another viral campaign for the Dark Knight movie. If anyone is interested, the number is 1-800-395-9646, It's basically a recording from someone being held by the Joker.

Back to the details of the panel. The first movie was Get Smart. They showed a extended trailer clip and it looks pretty funny. Anne Hattaway is hot as agent 99. Steve Carell is his funny self as Maxwell Smart. The panel included Steve Carrell, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Masi Oka, Nate Torrence and Ken Davitian. Steve and Dwayne are quite entertaining answering the Q&A's from random fans. Which included how much can you bench press? Next up was a clip of The Invasion staring Nicole Kidman, unfortunately she was not there to promote the movie, but we were greeted w/ a special greeting. Not too sure about this as most remakes do not do well. Speaking of remakes, One Missed Call is a remake of a japanese horror. Hollywood has definitely run out of ideas. Shannyn Sossamon and Ed Burns are the stars of the movie. They made an appearance to discuss about the movie. Interesting thing is that after watching the clip, I had no idea what the movie was about. I guess I was not the only one, as someone ask that question during the Q&A. Crazy thing is that to help promote the movie, they were giving away free iphones. Both actors were to give away four phones each. They decided that the best way to do so, was to reward it to those that ask a question. Damn me for not wanting to leave my seat to ask a question! Next preview was for Whiteout. The movie is about a murder th.t occurs in Antarctica and the explorers must find the killer before the sun sets for the next six month. Highlight of this movie is that Kate Beckinsale is in the movie, although she will being wearing a parka, so I am not sure how enjoyable that might be. The panel originally started w/ only the director and producers. WTF? Where's Kate? Apparently she was running last. So they had to delay until she arrived. Once she did... WOW... She is amazing. She took some Q&A and was quite funny w/ her response. One thing I learned is that she is 1/8 Asian, who knew? Finally the last guest was Zack Synder , the director of 300, who will be helming Watchmen. He announce the official casting, which was cheered for by the fans. Unfortunately I cannot remember it off the top of my head. Also to be honest, I have not read the graphic novel, pretty shocking since I am a comic fan. However, he did not go into great detail, as it is still in pre-production. He did stated that he will keep it true to the graphic novel, as movie studio heads thought they should update the storyline to present day. The original story took place in the 80's, He also revealed an exclusive poster that was made for the convention. That was the end of the WB panel.

Well faithful blog readers, the six of you who are subscribers, It's 2:00 and I am a little tired, so I will have to update another day. ( I am really trying to milk the site points ) Till then stay tuned!!!

Day 1 continued...

As stated in my last blog,  I am back to complete the details of my first day at Comic Con.  My next panel was a few hours away, so I decided to walked around the booths some more and took some pictures of various things.  The thing that caught my eye was the Haloclix Scarub figure.  BatmanKM has the details in the Halo 3 forums.  The thing is huge compare to the normal haloclix figures.  It looks awesome but comes at a $250 price tag.  Yikes!!!.  I am trying to get one for Lbsutke, however only 500 are available at the conventions, so we will see.  The last panel I attended was for Fanboys.  The movie is about a group of friends that travel across the country to try to break into Skywalker Ranch and view Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, before it was released.  Being a Star Wars fan myself and all the clips that I have seen, this is definitely a movie to be seen.  Although I have been to the panel before at Star Wars Celebration IV, it still a highlight to see the clips again.  Also it doesn't hurt that Kristen Bell is part of the panel and movie.  I have definitely have a little crush on her.  The last event of the night was the premiere of Superman Doomsday animated movie.  I must say that the movie was good and darker than the normal animated series.  Of course the movie was also PG-13, which explains the darker tone.  At the Q&A, the producers stated that this would be the start of a more mature line of DC animated movies.  Afterwards I made it back to the hotel at 11 and went to sleep to prepare for the next eventful day.  That concludes my first day,  more postings to come!

Comic Con Update - Day 1 Madness

So unfortunately my theory about the crowd was correct.  Normally the first two days of the convention would be relatively care-free and you could wonder around the floors w/ ease.  Well it seems those days are over, as attendance is growing to epic proportions. Yesterday's crowd was more that I have experience on a weekday,  although not up to the craziness that occurs on Saturday but very comparable.

The day started off by getting in line for exclusives.  First off was to Gentle Giant, to get LBplayer75 his requested item, unfortunately they were not prepared and would not sell their exclusives until later in the day.   From previous experience, their company is the worst at handling these situations.  However, they have an awesome product line, so people will take the abuse.  I will post in the Halo 3 forums of the Halo items they had displayed.  So off to Hot wheels for their exclusive of the TV series Batmobile.  At their booth, they had the original car itself, pretty awesome to see, especially if you were a fan of the tv show.  After an hour wait, I was off to roam the rest of the convention.  I will try to take a picture of the mere size of the convention hall but there is a lot to see.  Checked out the various booths and there is a lot to describe but w/ my limited time, I will post a link to my pictures to save the time.  Although I have not uploaded them at this time.  So keep on checking on my blog for the link.

After quickly checking the booths and picking up some free swag, it was off to the panels.  Other than that convention floor, there are various panels and workshops throughout the convention rooms.  Movie companies come to Comic Con to promote their upcoming releases, usually something that would appeal to the mass crowd, however it appears that they have decided to promote what they can.  First off was to Paramount's panel, they were to promote a few movies, which included Iron Man and Indy IV.  As I was waiting in line, w/ less then a hundred people in front of me, they decided to cap the line.  WTF?  I had never had this happen to me in the past four years.  Mind you, I believe the conference room holds at least 9,000+.  So I waiting in line, as the Lionsgate panel was next and Ms. Alba was one of the guest.  Damn is she hot.  She was their to promote her new movie, Good luck Chuck, which is a comedy w/ Dane Cook.  Next movie they promoted was a cowboy movie which stars Russel Crowe and Christian Bale, sadly they were not there.  Ben Foster and Peter Fonda were their to promote the movie.  It looks pretty interesting, especially w/ the cast.  Next was a horror movie from Clive Davis, he was a little out of it and it was hilarious to hear him talk.  It took him almost ten minutes to explain an simple question about the title of his movie.  People started laughing, as he would forget the question.  The cast included Vinnie Jones, Bradley Cooper and the lovely Leslie Bibb.  Last movie of the panel was Saw IV.  The producer, director and actor Tobin Bell were there to promote.  They should a clip of the movie and it appears that it is on par w/ the rest of the series.  Also Saw V is in the works.

Looks like I have to cut this short, as Gaius just text me to let me know that they are letting people in early.  Another sign it is going to be a hectic day.  They usually do not let people in until 10.  Sigh..  I will update more on day 1 later tonight.

Hello Blogging World!!!

Well, I have finally decided to make the jump and start blogging. I wanted to start w/ documenting my trip to this year's Comic Con and have something for Lbsutke to read at work.

So the kick-off started w/ an initial problem. Wednesday morning I had gotten an oil change and was preparing for the 2 hr drive. However, as I was driving home, my check engine light came on. Crap, this is not good. Fortunately I was able to discover the issue and did not have to take my car to the mechanics. After about a four hr delay, I was finally on the road. Sadly, I did not make the preview night but I still have four days to endure the madness that is Comic Con! Hopefully today will not be too hectic and I will able to walk the floor w/o the mad crowds. Tixs for Sat have already been sold out, so it is going to be crazy. I am off to the convention center and will continue w/ my updates.
