Playing Halo 3 in the wee hours...

Yup. My brother is coming over tonight and we will be playing some Halo 3, co-op style. Here are the 10 things I know to be true about tonight's (and tomorrow night's) festivities.

10. We will respawn many, many times whether we decide to play on Heroic or Legendary.
9. We will stop mid-play and say, "Ooooh, isn't that pretty!?"
8. We will fight over who is playing as Master Chief.
7. I will test the pistol out, screaming in the midst of a fire-fight, "Where's the f$*#ing scope?"
6. I will throw a grenade and say, "They changed it from -BLANK-! (fill in with Halo, Halo 2, or Halo 3 Beta).
5. I will say, "I'm driving! BIT-C-H!"
4. We will drink some Halo 3 Game Fuel. Although, we will lay off the Halo-3-Beer, the Halo-3-weed, the Halo-3-meth, and the Halo-3-crack. I'm just not the same player when I do all that other stuff.
3. My brother will, not that there's anything wrong with this, WHORE the sniper.
2. We will FINISH THE FIGHT.
1. We absolutely, positively will teamkill each other too many times to count, cause we share that kinda love.

Soccer Game

We had a soccer game this morning (I coach my daughter's team).  There are 9 girls on the team, and the team plays at the U-9 level.  After the first few minutes of the game I thought we were in trouble, as the other team had some pretty speedy girls.  We have a couple of speedy girls, also.. so that helps.  As I was substituting during the game, I told them that this team was really fast and we needed to hustle extra hard.  And they did!  They were all breathing hard each time they would come out for substitutions.  Our keepers did a great job letting only 3 goals in, with at least 10 more shots being taken that were stopped.  Our girls managed to score 4 against a team that, had we played them last year, would have mopped the floor with us.  They are coming along very well.  After the game, they were all excited that we won and then juice and snacks were handed out and I think the game was largely forgotten.  Ya gotta love youth soccer.  It makes me smile.

Playing some Halo

So I've been playing some Halo 2 online the past week or so. I quit a long time ago because, well, it just wasn't fun any more. I'm not sure if it was the Timmies or whether I was just burnt out on Halo in general. You see, I played TONS of Halo multiplayer on xbconnect before Halo 2 ever came out, and then Halo 2 came out and I played a lot of that. I never got into Halo 2 as much as I did the original. I never learned any of the little BXR type glitches in Halo 2 like I did with Halo... and hell, I've forgotten most of those now, too.

However, I have had a lot of FUN playing online this past week. I've been trying to shake off the rust before Halo 3 hits the streets so I don't noob it up. Some games I absolutely blow and some I do pretty well. My sniping skills have not come back yet; maybe I'm too old now... but I used to be a decent sniper.

In other news, we had soccer practice today (I coach my daughter's team). I love how you can work on something all practice and then during the last 15 minutes we'll have a scrimmage and they will seemingly forget everything we were working on during practice. They're U-9 and we've been working on basic offensive tactics... they do it for a while and then sort of revert to the beehive. I love coaching them, they all hustle and try so hard and they have fun... and they have made a lot of progress during the past 4 weeks we've had practice. We're 1 - 1 on the season so far, but this past weekend we lost 6-5 to a team that beat us 12-0 last year. They have come a LONG way. I'm very proud of them if I do say so myself.

Halo Trick Video

I found this at HighImpactHalo. There are some insane tricks in this video. This is from the original Halo, on the level Halo. Most of the tricks involve getting a warthog and/or the player up onto the top of the towers on that level.  It's about 30 minutes, but well worth the time.
