holy sh*t!!!!!

I usually just post game related stuff on my blog.   But........oh.........my...........god!  I'm sitting here with my 7 year old playing LOTR for the PS2.  I live in a gated lake community on the Texas Oklahoma border so we have a security guard gate.  These two dogs were in our front yard all morning.  They were kinda barking and mean, but whatever.  My wife called the security to come get the dogs and return them.  This old guy, way over 90 years old, folks, comes to the door and says "I'll see what I can do."
I returned to gaming without a thought.  The dude comes back and says they are kinda mean.  If I put 'em down that'll show 'em.  Again, I went back to my game.  2 minutes later..........Kaboom!.............Kaboom!..........Kaboom!  This guy painted the lawn with dog!   Holy Fuck!!!!!  I am from California!  This shit kinda new to me!  He came back and I said I guess that is one way to take care of it.  This dude was acting like it was an everyday event!  He said "I just had open heart surgery so I can't lift anything over 10 pounds.  My buddy is coming to help me hall it off.  Call me if the other dog comes back."  "The dogs collar says it's your neighbors, but they shouldn't of let it out."  My neighbor has like 5 dogs.  I didn't know they were his!!!!!!  And to top it all off, my neighbor isn't home because he's in intensive care because of a motorcycle accident!!  Like can't walk kinda deal.  When he
comes home he is probably gonna wonder where fluffy is.  Don't mess with the home owners association in Texas, man.

mouse and keyboard verdict

Alright, I have been using a mouse and keyboard set up for a week now.  So I thought  I would throw out my my .02 cents.  The overall verdict?  In my opinion I like the controller more.  But, keep in mind I have very little M/K experience in gaming prior to this setup.  I played rainbow six 2 with M/K.  The campaign is pretty fun.  I did good with the M/K.  It takes  a while to get used to it and the keyboard is kind of a nightmare to navigate around.  The keyboard puts a big damper on the whole deal for me.  I type all day with my job.  The last thing I really want to do is bang on a keyboard some more.  It's not that good for the wrist.  The other thing is that I can't really sit at my couch with a M/K.  I got my ass handed to me in R6V2 MP.  There are so many corners in those maps that again, is alot of work for a keyboard.  I will be using the M/K for the campaign for sure though.  The mouse is a dream come true for long distance shots.  Especially with the sensitivity toggle and the DPI toggle.  You can aim in on a guys eye.  COD4 worked out better.  I only used the M/K on the multiplayer.  The maps are more open so I could just sit back and pick people off.  I play alot of domination.  I would say the M/K is superior to the controller with COD4.  When it comes down to it.  my advise would be pretty stale.  If you are doin' good with a controller, stick with what works and save your money.  I you are experienced with a M/K or prefer it or just want something different, sure........give this a whirl!

360/PS3 mouse and Keyboard!

I'll probably catch alot of shit for this. Alot of people consider it cheating. How can it be considered cheating if I am a better player with a controller than a M&K setup? I am super shitty with a mouse. But.........Anyhooo.........here's how to set it up for the 360 and PS3. I took a couple of weeks off from the BT port. I fried two boards. I have it up and running, it's just not purty yet.

Here is the XFPS for the 360. This is basically just a connector from the input machine to the 360. I got it for 60 bucks used on ebay. There are 3 versions. I do believe they all work the same. You don't do any adjustments off of this thing. You can use just this to plug in a M/K but it works much much better with the input machine plugged into it.

Here is the XIM. Xbox input machine. This is the heart of the operation. You can make one yourself or get one off of xim360.com, or ebay. Xim360.com is a great site, it's just hard to get on it sometimes. This plugs into the XFPS with a PS2 plug from a USB from your computer. I just set a laptop at my 360.

Here is what the software looks like running. There is barely any setup even though it looks like a huge process. Everything stays plugged in. Just turn on the PC/360, drop your configuration file ontop of the XIM icon and you are ready to go. The software is free.

You can map all buttons to anywhere you like! Set whatever mouse sensitivity you like. It opens up alot of options. Here is the mouse and keyboard I run. You want a mouse that runs 1800 dpi or above. The Microsoft Sidewinder lets you toggle dpi. (cough,cough..........slow down the reticle for sniping.............cough,cough) the board is a Fang.

That's pretty much it. for the PS3 you don't use a XFPS. You use a $9.99 Yobo converter. Refreshes twice as fast as the XFPS, go figure. I just got the Yobo in the mail today and haven't used it yet. I have to hit the "up arrow" and the "select" short cut key to get it to register. But, WTF is the "select" key?! I don't know.................
Oh...........none of this was my idea at all. It's way out of my league. The guy who runs xim360.com...........it's all his idea.

EDIT      The select key is refering to the controller.  So hit whatever two buttons are mapped to the controller up and the controller select.

Almost done..........still

Alright, here is the BT port with the red buttons added.  Right now I am just trying to get the paint to look good.  I still have a day left to smooth out the paint flaws.  And the a day to put it together and make sure everything works.

As you can see I have a bit of sanding to do.  I gotta make sure those buttons don't bind up from paint build up.

Here it is with the mute button adapter on it.  So any headphone set be it a PC set with padded speakers on both ears or a 360  set will be blue tooth enabled and have the mute button at the thumb.  Eventually, I will try to get the mute button and master volume on the controller itself to make it look close to stock.  I want to try to do it with a rumble controller so the electronics will be pretty packed in there.

port progress

Here is the lastest on the blue tooth port.  It's all up and running.  Now I am just working on the looks of the controller.  I am going with a battle scared theme.  Olive drab with flat primered red buttons, scorch marks, serial numbers, a bullet hole or two...........I am going to try and put a ripped metal piece on it, also.  If it doesn't bother the blue tooth signal.  I am going to match my Trittons to the controller so they look like military cans.  I am a little hesitant to mess with those puppies, though.
