first mod

Cool Posts. Are these mods ones that you came up with? Are the pics yours?

The adapter is 100% my baby from start to finish.  Replacing the 360 sticks?  I think lots and lots of people have done this.  I got the idea off a project of Ben Heck the( kinda?)
famous modder.  He stuffed a whole PS3 controller into a 360 controller case.  Ya, the pics are mine.    I like to document with pics.  The one picture of the modified torx driver is Ben Hecks picture.  It was just such a clear picture, I used it.  I don't have a great camera.

The adapter that is posted below is actually my 4th or 5th attempt since November.  All that I know about this stuff is what I learned from trial and error since Novermber, basically.
Here is my first attempt.  It's really really bad.  Not really something you want to go outside wearing!  My 2nd attempt I still use, actually.  It's just a blue tooth with a mute button inline.  I have to take my hand off the controller to push the button by my ear.   I like the mute button on the controller way better.

The metal thing is just a clip.  It doesn't really go on your head.  I told you it was bad!

Why my wife didn't see me for 2 days..........

Alright, this one is for PS3 guys and gals.  It's an adapter so you you can use any headset you please.  Yes...........even the Tritton 5.1 phones!!!!!!  Now you don't have to run an extra USB line to the PS3!  Which by the way cost about 50 bucks.  This adapter will be only a couple of inches wide when finished.  And yes.......puts a mute switch and master volume at your fingertips.  also,  my next step is to put a line jack in so you can plug your PSP into your chat.  I just got Traxxpad so I can compose music and have a buddy at the other end listen to it clearly.  Or, if there is a band you like and want someone to listen to.  Just plug it in.  Or......play the Bee Gees during COD4 so everyone on your team will hate you?  Keep in mind that this isn't finished, please.  All that perf board  (the brown board) will not be there.  It's just easy to work on.  I have a good idea of what the finished product will look like.  And it's actually almost done.  Remember......this is the extremely rough prototype.

I use a port off of a 360 because I will generally use a 360 headset.  But, anything will plug into that center jack.  You could go to walmart and pick up your preference of PC headsets.

This blue tooth board will be in a nice small case that will attach to the PS3 controller.  Here I have an adapter attached that adds a mute and master volume.  Then I plug my 360 headset into it.  I know it's friggin big and ugly right now.  but, all of this will be compacted and I will fit it just under the sticks.

Here is the reason I started this project.  To make it so I don't have to run a USB cord from my Trittons to the PS3.  And I don't have to mess with the audio accessory settings everytime I want to game.  Just flip it on and go.  Plus,  Two big complaints that Tritton owners have are the thumb mute switch and a master volume instead of 3 dials to mess with on the headset.

Lastly......the PSP jack......because traxxpad rules!!!!!  Seriously.......you gotta check that software out!

new nubs

Here is a picture of the 360 controller I use at the moment. I took the sticks off and put on PS3 sticks. For me the PS3 sticks work way better. I tend to overshoot my targets alot. This set up tends to cut that down for me. Plus, I switch back and forth between the 360 and the PS3. This way both systems have the same feel to the controls.

Here is how you can do it.  It's very easy.
1.  The controller has screws w/ pins in them.  you can order a special screwdriver or make your own.  Just take a star driver and notch it with a dremel with a cut off disk attachment.  Watch your fingers!  Remove the screws.

2. Take the controller apart.  Don't worry, it's not difficult to put back together.  Dremel the "hood"off the PS3 sticks.  If you don't you won't get the full motion of the stick range and it will rub in spots.  At this point without the case on it seems like the L3/R3 tack switch won't engage.  It will once the case is back on.

3.  Re-assemble the case and your set!

I believe PS2 sticks will work in the same manner.  I am totally not sure of that, though.  A pawn shop is a good place to pick up an old beat up controller.

Here is a really outstanding band.  They are Bloc Party from England. These cats know how to play their instruments!  The drummer is one of the best in my opinion.

What am I going to do with my HD DVD player!!

I got this email today......................

We're Going Blu-ray

Dear Benjamin,

You're receiving this email because you have asked to receive high-definition movies in the HD DVD format. As you may have heard, most of the major movie studios have recently decided to release their high-definition movies exclusively in the Blu-ray format. In order to provide the best selection of high-definition titles for our members, we have decided to go exclusively with Blu-ray as well.

While we will continue to make our current selection of HD DVD titles available to you for the next several months, we will not be adding additional HD DVD titles or reordering replacements.

Toward the end of February, HD DVDs in your Saved Queue will automatically be changed to standard definition DVDs. Then toward the end of this year, all HD DVDs in your Queue will be changed to standard definition DVDs. Don't worry, we will contact you before this happens.

We're sorry for any inconvenience. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please call us at 1 (88 638-3549.
