IT Guru advice needed

I know there's a whole slew of IT Guru types on here, can one of you recommend some good reference/learning books on Active Directory/EMS and Servers?  There's so many different books out there, and IT books are not all created equal.  Thanks in advance!

Days Off

Since I've been working "remf" units for a good long while, I'd forgotten how tiring a good long Army week could be, and how awesome it is to have the weekend off can feel.  Thank you U.S. Army for letting me have my Saturday and Sunday. 

While on the subject of thanks, I'd also like to say thank you to Uncle Sam for the training I go this week, a truly awesome combat multiplying, mission capable system that I am proud to utilize in defense of my fellow soldiers.  It's absolutely unreal what our frontline combat arms soldiers can do with these assets that I get the priviliege of working on and repairing. 

To be absolutely honest folks, you wouldn't believe the stuff I learned how to do and fix this past week.  You think the Master Chiefs radar is cool, you should see what the U.S. Army is using these days, it's not quite to what he has, but I'd say it's better in certain ways, lol.  I'm not kidding either.  If we'd had this capability in WWII or WWI, well, hell if we'd had it in WWI, WWII would've never happened.

Anyways, I may bitch at times about the Army, but at the end of the day, I'm a proud Soldier til the end.

A day in the boots

0445 - Alarm goes off 
0450 - Get out of bed
0451 - Hit home latrine for shave & well...
0500 - Drink Mountain Dew
0505 - Get on PTs, Pack uniform & accessories for day, ensuring nothing vital is forgotten (i.e. boots....)
0525 - Leave for PT
0605-0615 - Arrive at PT field (time varies due to traffic)
0630 - Formation Report
0632 - PT- 10 minutes calinstethics, 20 minutes upper & lower body workout, 4 mile run up & down "flat" fort riley, Kansas
0735 - PT complete
0736 - rush home to shower b/c of forgotten belt & dog tags (both hanging on back of computer chair....grrrr)
0810 - arrive home, secure lost items, shower, dress, grab Mountain Dew
0825 - leave home to get to work by 0900
0857 - Workplace arrival
0900 - 1148 - work - repaired lost connectivity (rj45 plug was not inserted into jack in wall), set up outlook, mapped network drive, installed printer, answered phone constantly
1149 - 1300 - lunch (lolololol)
1300 - 1700 - more work.....guh
1701 - depart for home
1742 - home arrival

This is a fairly standard day, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer, but it's representative of Monday thru Friday.  Good stuff eh?

Almost there

Well, I have a house that I'm leasing for a year.  I bought a new standard TV and already have my 360E with me.  I ordered Broadband from Cox and they said they'll be out next Wednesday.  Of course, for some reason, the internet and cable is already working, which is great!  I'm hoping it's not a fluke and it stays on, but we'll see.  I'm 70% done inprocessing, just have to get my family in the Tricare & dental systems.  I still have to get my kids registered and attending school, that's tomorrow though, so all good on that front.  Finally, I've got my unit and office that'll I'll be working for, and I got a superbly awesome job, far more than I even dared wish for.  I'm going to be the Server/Lan Manager, or something to that effect, which is outstanding and precisely what I was hoping for.  I'm working at the Brigade level, which is far better than being way down buried at Company or Platoon level.

The only thing for me to wait on is my Household goods, which may take up to another month, but you know, with all the luck I've had so far, I'm not going to press my luck and grump about it.  So, all in all, I'm near the finish line of the move and very happy about it.  I'm looking forward to testing my connection on Xbox Live either tonight or tomorrow night on my clan night, and the best part for me is not having to stay up 'til 3 in the morning to play with my clanmates.

I appreciate the support and words of encouragement I've received from all of you during this challenging move from Germany and would just like to say a hearty Thank You to all of you.
