What happened to Ford vs. Chevy??
Does this still exsist? Aside from NASCAR, do people still say things like "round here on a quite night you can hear a Ford rusting"? Does anyone care anymore? This used to be a big deal years ago. Maybe my town is not redneck enough or I am just not paying attention. It's kind of sad.
Remember, "What does Ford stand for?" "Fucking Owner's Really Dumb!!"
We always had Chevy's growing up. My grandfather worked for GM as an assembly line inspector in Norwood Ohio where they built Camaro's. I had a bunch of old Camaros and Corvettes growing up and still drive a Tahoe today. Never owned a Ford and never would. I used to work on plenty of them though back in the day when I worked on that kind of stuff.
I guess today it's all about the rice grinders and putting huge wings on the back of commuter cars that used to get 40mpg and now just have stereos that produce more wattage than the engine horsepower.
Maybe I am just getting old........

Disappointment....
Have you ever been disappointed by people even though you didn't expect anything from them? It's weird, it bothers you but you don't hold it against anyone for actually causing the disappointment.....silly.
It happens to me on occasion. It's the most confusing thing and I try not to let it get in the way of the relationship whether it be personal, business or casual. But there it is, waiting, in the shadows to jump out and take a bite out of my ass........

Fuggin Lupus
This Saturday I will be walking for the fourth year in a walk to raise money to find a cure for Lupus.
Why am I doing this? Good question!
My wife Kim was diagnosed with Lupus about 5 and a half years ago. There is no known cure very few drugs to treat the disease. Most are developed for other issues and cross into use to combat the current symptoms.
Thanks to Robert Johnson (of Johnson and Johnson) for creating the Alliance for Lupus Research, all money raised goes directly toward research for a cure.
Here is a link to her webpage http://walk.lupusresearch.org/site/TR?pg=personal&fr_id=1380&px=1001743

Well.....why not?
I have never had a blog before. Hell I haven't written anything that wasn't an estimate or lunch order in years and it will most likely show. Even though, what the hell. It's not like anyone is being made to read it.
So this is my first entry. I guess some basic info would be a good place to start. My name is Chris. I am 37 and married with two children. I live in Round Hill, Virginia about 65 miles West of Washington DC. It's a small town. You know the type, where everyone knows the Mayor and people meet at the small restaurant in the middle of town. 440 residents and counting. My wife and I moved here about 7 years ago. We wanted to be away from the "city" and all the traffic and people. We lived in McLean in a one bedroom apartment with our dog. It was ridiculous. People yelling, car alarms going off in the middle of the night and the annual rent increases that were so aggressive I thought we were buying the place. After notice of a pending increase I though, "shit we can own a house for that much!". So we started looking and a couple of months later moved into our 120 year old 1300 sq.ft. house on 1/2 acre in Round Hill. Well, seven years and a 2500 sq.ft. addition later the hustle we left in McLean is heading our way.
I did not go to college. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life but I knew college was not a part of it. Lucky for me I had a little sense. I moved to DC at 18 and started working on cars. The only true passion I had at the time that was legal. One thing leads to another and I found myself the European specialist at a busy shop. I narrowed my scope to just Porsche and have not looked back since. Currently I am building and maintaining road racing cars as well as performing routine maintance on street cars.
I own three Porsches although one was recently totaled at Virginia International Raceway due to sudden rapid deceleration. I hit a wall at approx. 70 mph backwards. Yes it hurt but not physically as much as my ego. It was a stupid mistake but at high speed it only takes one to turn things bad in a hurry.
That is a good start and I need another beer.
